Ive also looked at these and come to the conclusion I'd still rather have my own. On the costs, then yes it looks that over a 12 month period I will have spent perhaps a fair bit more owning mine than I would have had I just had one of these club memberships for a year. However - If I decide that Im going to take mine out this weekend, and then it decides to rain, I can leave it in the garage and do something else and take it out next weekend instead. I dont have to worry about making sure I use it on pre-selected days and I dont have to worry if I decide to go a bit further than I planned that weekend/evening either and paying for excess mileage. If I get home one evening after work and I just fancy a quick blast out just for the hell of it, I can. If I want to spend an afternoon on a lazy sunday giving it a wash and wax then I can. You've had a gallardo before, and I bet it felt great just having it sat there when you got home. You could decide to go out for a blast whenever you wanted, it was yours. Sure there is the extra worry about the insurance and the maintanence etc, but so what - having it at your disposal whenever you want it to be makes up for all that. I bought mine because its something Ive always wanted. One of my bucket list items if you will. It will probably depreciate by about £40k in the next 3 years maybe. If it does, so what. Will I look back on my life when Im on my deathbed and wish I hadn't wasted as much on a ridiculous flash depreciating assett? I doubt it. The same could be said about "wasting" money on being in a car club for a year - will you regret it 50 years from now? Not a jot. So if its something you fancy doing and you wont miss the £12k - do it, and dont forget to review the cars as you go along! The daily rate on the above is about £480. Daily rate on owning is say £15k in depreciation, insurance and running, but you can have say 20 weekends a year, plus evenings whenever you like - say 50 full days driving minimum - £300 daily rate.

Maserati Gran Tourismo.... Thoughts?
Chesterfield replied to Zedrush's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Is it not?! I assumed that as it had the Ferrari lump it they'd have kept that part of the design, looks like a numpty mistake on my part then No they only stick the flat plane in the Fezzas, so thats why the 430 has what some say is an "agricultural" noise on tickover . The GT sounds fantastic. Haven't heard an LP640 in the flesh so will reserve judgement, but the GT across the road from me puts both the 430 and the neighbours lp560 to shame. -

Im fairly certain that both the 4.3 and 4.7 V8's in these are chain driven, so I reckon someone's having his pants down if they have advised cambelt change. -

My brother has been hanging his nose over the exact same car Jay. White with the black wheels. They depreciate RIDICULOUSLY fast, so save yourself the deposit on another house and get a 12 month old. The sound of the 4.7 in those is just phenomenal, Ive heard nothing that betters it, ever. -
Good job you slipped middle aged into that list eh bud.

We paid about £450 for our photographer and it was about another £100 for the DVD and letter confirming our rights to the photos and the ability to reproduce them. From a business perspective that photographer is an absolute moron for now turning down your business on the basis of you asking about pricing of the DVD or possibly a discount to have it included. What does she think the recommendation will be like from yourself now. Get to a wedding fair or ask some other newlyweds who they used and you may be surprised at what you can get for the money. In my opinion £2k for photos is quite excessive, though I do know people who have paid it. For me the photos taken on the disposables we put on each table have given us more laughs and memories. The quality of a £500 photographer compared to £2000 one may or may not be noticeable, but it's the memories those pictures provoke that will be remembered forever, and not whether the composition is perfect.

Separate folder for "Colours" In "Photo's" Section
Chesterfield replied to Jak's topic in Site Suggestions & Feedback
Have made a slight re-org, grouping the colour stickies together, but unless people post their pics in those individual colour sticky threads then they could be scattered in the main photo section anyway, unless we restrict people to using only the coloured stickies or not having any grouping at all then its going to be difficult to sort the photo section out. People will always want to show off their latest pic, so will probably just post up in the general section of the forum to get most views before we have to move it anyway. Will see how it goes for now. -
You will need to remove the plates by placing them on retention or transfering to your new vehicle prior to the sale of the car. If you sign over the V5 for the car with the private plate shown on it, then the buyer becomes the new owner of the private registration mark. You will need to complete a V317 which is for retaining or transferring a mark. You will need to do this for both your cherished plates prior to selling the car. The Jaguar - more ways to tell me it's crap.
Chesterfield replied to Chesterfield's topic in Other Cars
Thats what I keep getting told, however my brothers experience is about the same, and he got the next but one of the production line If you can make it pop and need an AA visit and reset by plugging an Ipod in then the alarm bells should be ringing. -

Ive had this happen before - sounds like a "pop", the screen resets, vents close and re-open etc - like the car goes through a "reboot" every now and then. I've learnt to live with it. -
Had both and I'd have another convertible again any day, but I dont think I could have one as my luxury/fun car permanently though. The main point for me is exactly how Clarkson described the issue when reffering to the debate. Although I disagree with plenty he says, for me what he said made sense to me when it came to the choice of convertible or coupe for the 430 - and it applied to me in the 350 too. When referring to the 430 he said....If you look like Jose Mourinio, then the convertible is fine, if you look more like Jose Pasquale, then its the coupe. I simply would not suit a 430 convertible and would look a chuff, so coupe it was. If I ever get round to losing maybe 4 or 5 stone, then I may think again. Having said that, who gives a toss. Open top motoring is immense fun in the summer, and the roofs on most modern convertibles aren't an issue for leaks etc. I know Martin has had issues with his 350 roof, but Ill bet driving round in the summer with that top down makes up for it. Ive been trying to get the missus to have another MX5, and having recently been with a mate to a car supermarket to get his first run around, I hung my nose over a couple of MX5's and an Alfa Spyder - the fact I havent yet had the garages built yet was probably one of the only things stopping me getting one

Id put her in a shopping center and send her to buy some bikini bottoms that fit for a start. Ive seen snugger fitting nappies. Amateur, bloody amateur.

Bearing in mind the "80's grandad list" were cars I was driving only 10 years ago I only got the Golf in 2002. Some of the other lists are far more impressive, the variety of cars is really something else. Ive always kept my cars for a decent length of time so I havent had as many changes. Indeed I only changed the older ones on that list when they either broke, or I broke them.

What is even more annoying is that the figure BT have for the number of telephone lines connected to our exchange exceeds the actual census population by about 25% never mind the number of properties, so the broadband uptake will always be quite a low percentage
-
Getting 100K out of our community would be a blood from a stone venture in itself. Id happily pay £2/3k to get my own individual line done if BT offered the option, but we will be stuck with the up to 8mb service for a few years yet. What amazes me is BT will only put in FTTC if the ISPs can guarantee a minimum 10% take up in the area, and thats 10% of lines, not broadband consumers. Whereas the takeup on the much cheaper to install ADSL2+ would be well into the 50%+ area I would assume. You will love gaming on the projector

In this case would spread betting be a viable option? Just calculate your overall risk to be the same value as you would actually wish to invest if the option to purchase was available. Though I guess the reason for getting aproval is to ensure they cannot be accused of providing insider information - so perhaps they apply the same rules to spread betting and the overall "value" of the risk.

Internet gaming is a lot more about the latency and the upload than anything else. 0.8mb up and a ping of 20ms will suit me just fine for now. 100mb down would be great for the likes of streaming hd etc. Which is another point which BT need to address, but seem to have missed completely, is that with the advent of more and more streaming media, including TV these faster technology may become more of a necessity. Rupert Murdoch is hardly going to miss that trick. How long before sky on demand in HD is available (for a price)? If this technology is only available to a minority - how long before OFCOM allows people who actually want to roll out their own FTTC to use the underground trunks to lay their own fibre back to their LLU equipment. Whats more, its the villages and towns which have a higher demographic of stay at home mums etc that lap up new tv services (which areas were the first to be plastered with sky dishes for example?). If there is a large commercial gain for the likes of Sky and Virgin to lay their own fibre and beat BT to the punch, then they could lose out in a huge way. They could theoretically bypass the BT capacity based charging too, especially if they host such content on directly on the Network rather than using the BT backbones.

And let me guess where they will put the masts first.
