Ive put myself in the position to be able to buy a GTR or similar by ensuring that I do not shaft my customers. If I did, I would not get repeat business. Which is why Nissan wont be getting mine. I also fail to see how the "product" is being protected. Afterall, its not as if the importers are selling subaru Imprexas with GTR body shells on. They are selling a Nisan product, which has originally been sourced from a Nissan factory/dealer allbeit in Japan. Again, I would suggest it is the pottentially excessive UK profits that are being protected rather than the product. Not something I agree with, and certainly something which makes me feel that I made the right decision not to stump up the deposit some months ago.

One step ahead on that front Already looking into the options for next spring (dont worry Ill not be going anywhere Ill still keep the Z)
-
Could be a wearing clutch. Mine is in the top quarter now, getting very close to a needing a new one - but as car is now only doing about 1-2k a year it may last a while.
-
Up for a clutch fitting to the Z around the 21st then Phil? I also have withheld on the GTR front as I want to see how the ownership pans out. The way that this is a "new" venture for Nissan and the creating of the High Perfromance Centres etc gives me enough reason to wait, although Im still considering a couple of other cars instead. Im guessing there are compulsory Nissan services and other items which need to be adhered to in order to keep the warranty alive. Will be very interesting to see these charges published too. If the current actions that we seem to be seeing regarding the importers of these are anything to go by - I wont hold my breath for Nissan not shafting the UK owners again once they have received the cars.

How many incidents do we have to see where the Ferrari "green light" system rather than the standard lollipop causes dangerous exits and injured engineers before they get a desrving penalty? IMHO the system that Ferrari use should be banned outright, as we have yet another example of the driver being given the green light by this system and a dangerous exit. Not only did the hose get ripped off and take down a mechanic, but he was yet again released directly into the path of another car. My guess is that yet again as is always the case with the red cars, that it will be a financial penalty (tiny) yet again. This is an absolute joke.

Almost fell off my chair when I saw postage costs from mynismo. Will be waiting until Kev can supply I think.

So surely by that logic, there should be no second hand cars sold, ever. I wonder what Levis motives were to stop Tesco selling £20 jeans in the UK - was it to protect the "brand" or was it to ensure they could keep retailing them at £50 and milking the UK public? GTRs in the US sat in showrooms at the equivalent of £40,000, imports of right hand drive cars available to the UK earlier and cheaper than the UK retail price... Smells like protecting a gravy train to me.

75 - 300 lens will be great for Safari. I have an 18-200, the extra on the 300 will probably serve you well on occasion. Be sure to get a monopole though, at 300mm you will need all the steadying you can get unless its got an incredibly low F stop on the lens (though this would have been a pretty penny). You may struggle for portrait shots with the 75mm though, and not be able to do the normal "at table" shots. For those, you may want to take the standard camera you had before. You should have a fantastic time in Kenya - are you going to any particular locations?

Yes the horizon needed doing too - oops This is a good site that I have used before for basic tips etc. It also has a gallery section where you can see photos that were taken using the same camera as you own. http://www.kenrockwell.com/index.htm The links for canon and Nikon at the bottom will take you to the sections specific to those models.

Where does one purchase these shiney bolt kits from... and would one be able to source them in yellow?

I find this attitude from Nissan truly bizzare if true. The only reasons for these cars being imported are all of Nissans making in my opinion. A, the car is available in right hand drive in Japan - but they choose to make us wait over a year to have it in this country. B, it is priced higher in this country for reasons completely unknown. If these two main issues did not exist, then I dont believe there would be as larger import demand for the car.

There are no tigers in Kenya The best advice I can give, having done exactly the same thing (bough my SLR before going to Kenya) is as follows: Set your camera to take shots in "raw" mode if it can, rather than JPG. These take up more memory, so you will get less on a memory card. The reason I say this is that shooting in raw mode captures more data than a simple JPG image. Which means that when you get back, you can learn how to use photoshop and other software to make your photos look truly amazing. If you take the shots in JPG, there is little you can do - but with RAW, you can alter exposure, shadows, hilights etc etc. As they take up more space, you may need to buy more memory cards. I took about 5GB of photos on a two week safari. What camera is it? There may be a site that gives you some tips on how to use it. Also, practice, practice and practice. Adjust the settings in various modes and see what difference they make, so you can get used to what does what. To give an example of what I mean about RAW... Here is a photo I took using my SLR - if it had been in JPG it would have stayed very much like this: But because I shot in RAW mode, I was able to recreate how the place actually looked, and tweak the colours to really show off the location: Ive also been able to tweak many of my safari pictures many months after Ive taken them. I didnt take them all in RAW, but I wish I had now.

Bloody ell - when did you do all that? Last time I looked it was a lot of window shopping and no fitting! Got the modding bug now have you? :tteth:

Racing Hart RS721s - 19" Wheels for sales with Tyres
Chesterfield replied to Jacko's topic in For Sale
Yeah yeah... Ive only just got the GT4 rims looking nice against the arches, so sadly anything with different offsets etc now is not for me. At some point I will no doubt justify the dropping of the spacers and fitting of different wheels, but I have only driven the car round the block since fitting the spacers a month or so ago If I get rid of them without using them I give the wife "ammunition" to continue buying handbags and shoes! -

Having seen these in the flesh a few times, I can say that they are excellent. The effort that Mark went to researching the offsets and tyre sizes for these was also no simple matter. The end result is that these sit about as perfect as you can get with the arches, and look the nuts too -
Am I missing something, if its the same caliper, just moved further out to accomodate the larger disk, wont the contact area between the disc and pad still remain the same? Will moving that contact area further away from the centre point of the wheel (and taking advantage of the lower torque at that point) really make that much of a difference? I may well be talking complete nonsense and will be prepared to be educated on this point

I think there should be a front page announcement and fanfare for the first modification

Saw the full episode on Motorway Cops or similar on BBC 3 last night, absolutely bizzare. They must have been off their face on PCP or something. They both got hit by cars in the outside lane, made it to the other side where they were being detained - then both broke free, one getting smashed by a truck, and the other getting hit by a fiesta or focus. The one that got hit by the truck was out of ot for a while and was taken to hospital and was in there for 7 weeks. The other one was incredible - she smashed the windscreen of the fiesta/focus thing, and creased the roof in by about a foot - this was a massive impact. When you see her fighting the wpc and then crossing the other carriageway, this is AFTER she has been smacked by one ca in the fast lane, and then got hit again by the fiesta/focus thing when she followed her friend (who got smacked by the truck). Took about 6 people to restrain her, and that was after she got hit by TWO cars on the motorway! Out of hospital after being given the all clear in a few hours. That was also the same show where there wa one guy arrested for drink driving, driving without a license, no insurance and no tax. He got a ban and £800 fine. I thought - hang on, he is driving illegally anyway, so a ban is rather pointless, and the £800 fine is about £1000 less than it costs me to tax and insure both my cars for the year, so what exactly is the deterent to prevent me doing the same thing apart from my conscience?

Its a shame this is the first of the Wales runs you will be missing Jacko, the passing of an era. Though its a credit to you buddy

Makes me feel so much better about my tax bill.

Come on then who's having the last set!!!
-
Yes - Ill leave the rubber outside the arches for the "Euro Dub" club.. Someone else will be enjoying the bargain soon Im sure. Dorian - the spacers would have shoved the wheels further out on the rear and made the tyres protrude outside the arches (illegal). On the front, the spacers require a hollow for the head of the spacer lugs to fit inside. (hubcentric spacers that bolt onto the hub rather than using longer studs). Could just take the spacers off and go for the wheels on their own, but after having only bought them recently, Ill stick with just the GT4 rims for now.
-
Well let your concience start wrestling again Jim... Ive just had to back out, as they wont work with the spacers I have. So you can cheer up Dave, you will still be the only UY at Wales with GT4 rims. room for someone else now. Sorry Phil

Let the "which tyres for the LMGT4 19s" thread begin...
