Nor me.

Me too - dont know how long for - as little as possible would be nice. Then I can go round all the relatives, deliver the presents, visit Grandad in hospital, then come home and crack open the wine

They look like some pretty tasty discounts! I wonder if there are any other manufacturers who have, or are about to issue similar schemes... Though I could quite fancy a Murano at that price.
-
I should imagine shifting new £30k 370z's is not going to be the easiest of tasks in 2009 either

Nixy, if it makes you feel any better, Ive driven into our garage with BOTH Z's we have owned, and Ive also done exactly the same thing as you with our Altea when putting that in the garage. Scraped the rear arch of that and its made a bit of a mess of it. Did you get that same pondering sensation after the crunch - will it be worse if I keep on going, or reversbe back out of the situation. I chose to keep on going.

For me witht he imminent release of yet another xfactor winner drivel which seems to have become the standard for Christmas Number 1's, I thought the following parody was hilarious.. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrf2GOKAIVc

Just to echo the sentiments of above Andrew, ESR will certainly be missed amongst the community. Phils health and your availability during his continued steady recovery are the priority though. As above, if there is anything we can do to help during this time let us know.

Ive read some of the comments on that site, why does this one not surprise me... Only in America could someone come up with this excuse.
-
Excellent news Andrew, really chuffed to hear the progress contnues

Echo the above Andrew, the best news all week! So very pleased to hear this for you and your family.
-
common sense prevails for once! Im sure it wont take them long to come up with some other blatant tax instead though.

Yes its a bit of a bugger, so far Ive broke my lights, skirts, fluid tanks, bonnet stay, discs, pads, exhaust, air intake, and Ive had to cover a couple of scars on the front with a lip and the same on the back. Terribly unreliable.

Hi - I'm new to this so be gentle..
Chesterfield replied to pcw1982's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Hi (and welcome ), If you click the FAQ link in the menu at the top of the page, there are answers to many questions in that list - but if you cant find the specific answer feel free to post up. There is also a testing section which you can use to "test" different posts etc without worrying whether you are getting it right or not. Hope that helps, and you have fun here -

JAE2009 date change clash with Zedfest2009
Chesterfield replied to Steve Burns's topic in Meets, Shows and Events
Zedfest for me. I was hoping that the relocation of JAE in 2008 would have resulted in it becoming more central (especially when that was quoted as one of the primary criterea when choosing the new location), when it moved even further South East than before, it killed it for me I'm afraid. -
As long as you are displaying the legal font with characters 79mm high, then there is absolutely no legal reason why you cannot have an import style front plate ona UK car. The Import front plates can have 64mm size letters if there is a functional reason for this (Import sized space in bumpers). If your plate is import style with the standard sized font, then I think you have been given this ticket unfairly. As the rules are so wooly on number plates, its hardly surprising that the coppers get it wrong too.

Really chuffed to read the latest update on Phils progress Andrew. Heres to a continued steady and positive recovery.
-
Great news Andrew! Again, Im sure everyone here is more concerned with Phils health right now than the lead time on any parts etc. Family will and always should come first All these steps are in the right direction, great to hear.

Just caught up with this thread Andrew, and I honestly cant believe what I've read. Mine and Tracys thoughts are with you and we are hoping for a swift recovery for Phil. I dont think anyone expects any sort of service from ESR at this time given the circumstances so there is absolutely no need to apologise, I doubt if anyone would expect you to be concentrating on anything other than the health of your dad and the support of your family. If there is anything any one of us can do, or you need help with anything at all, just ask - thats what all us friends are for.

Sounds like a bargain for anyone wanting the Yellow. As above the Z gets noticed anyway - drive a yellow one and you had better not be the shy type!

This pre budget has done naff all of any use. 15% VAT - well, I assume that they "intend" for retailers to pass this on. Of course we know this wont happen. The margins will just increase on products to keep the price points on items. i.e. the retailer will still sell something for X.99 whether its got 15% VAT or 17.5%, the profit margins will shift to leave the ticket prices unchanged. In the process he has created a massive headache for small businesses on invoicing and accounting, which will only be repeated in Dec 2009 when it goes back again. Oh and the duty increase that has been put in to ofset the VAT reduction on alcohol, tobacco and fuel will remain in place when the VAT level returns back to 17.5% in a years time, sneaky way of getting more duty in under the radar. The national insurance increases will effectively tax every worker and business, instantly adding 0.5% to the entire wage bill, and taking another 0.5% of the employee too. Top earners on £150k+ to be taxed at 45%. Well only if those earners take that money as salary, those who are able to take it as dividends will be able to circumnavigate that pitfall, until of course Mr Darling dicks about with the dividend tax rates - which you can just see is coming next. This is nothing more than a few headline grabbing measures pupose built for the sun readers "tax up for the super rich" and "2.5% price cut", (when actually its 2.13 but anyway), just so they get voted in for another term and try to jiggle it again, or if they dont - the tax bomb will go off under a new administration. Im starting to think a chipanzee with a calculator could outsmart this clown we have at the helm.

Liam has a point, with an uncertain future on car prices, going for one that has lost most of its money now and holding for a year is probably the best bet. Hows about 56 plate Astons, £45k or less. DB9's for only about 5k more, and a 54plate or slightly newer DB9 can be had for around £50k. 360's (early ones at least) will have lost most of their money, and 04/54/05 Gallardos have lost a fair proportion of theirs now too. What about having a cheap 350z for a year, and putting £40k into a repo'd house from an auction, sit on that for a couple of years and see if the market takes an upturn. My brother and I are visiting a property auction on Wednesday to get a feel for the volume/prices of repo's and fire sale houses around here. Have a cheaper "fun car" that wont lose as much money, while sitting on an investment that has the pottential to go up in value, which will assist fund the dream car in a year or two..

They will never start banning people in that larger numbers. A banned motorist cant be milked over and over. This government has a fixation that speed kills - which it doesnt. As others have posted, speed may be listed as a contributing factor. And thats speed in excess for the conditions, which is not the same as speed in excess of the limits. 25mph in a 30 zone in the snow for example may cause an accident whereby excess speed would be counted as a contributory factor. Regardless that its within the limit. If the vehicle had been going slower, the accident wouldnt have happened. Which taken to the n'th degree is applicable for almost every accident. Ill pretty much guarantee I wont have an accident in my Z tonight, as its not moving. The government then choose to use these "excess speed" figures to justify measures against speeding motorists. Which is a massive twisting of the figures to suit a great revenue scheme. Also - if it is for safety reasons alone, why are all new cameras such as specs, forward facing - which do not "catch" motorcyclists, who are most likely to die in "speed related" incidents. Surprisingly this fact that a higher percentage of bikers die is ignored in favoutr of the largest number of "speeders" or should that be the safety of bikers is ignored in favour of the larger revenue stream... Plus - if people are banned, there appears to be no deterent for banned drivers other than another ban, so all we will see is an increase in drivers without licences, insurance tax etc. The costs for the genuine motorist will go through the roof, driving many off the road (handily acheiving the emissions cut along the way for Mr Brown), and Britain will be left with the highest number of illegal road users per capita in Europe. Sounds like another plan thought through by a government "think tank"whom don't appear to have a cerebrum between them.
