Chris Knott Insurance No Longer Covering 350Zs for under 25s
Chesterfield replied to HampshireRob's topic in Insurance
So could it be said that the blacklist is not car specific for everyone, but only car specific for under 25's? If so, we'll change the thread title for clarification. -
Glad to hear that you managed to save the paintwork, and fingers crossed a machine polish will clear it alltogether. Still doesnt excuse the fact that as Dave says, these morons want knee capping. Even though Z's now can be bought for less than the price of a new focus or other car, they are still somehow seen as "flash". Nice in some respects, but it obviously brings out the not so nice side too.

Its an annoyance introduced by an export using one character set and the import into the new databse using another character set.

attachments should be fixed now... appologies

I know you're all joking!

yeah it was lack of trialling one particular addition that screwed it up. Now tha we have this working fine here though, we are taking the time to get the look and feel of the new software to look (and work) right. It will be in very much the same style as this, but slightly updated and with a few more functions for users to make things a little more user friendly.
-
They will be coming soon I promise, I ran in to some difficulties last night at about 3am when doing the changes, so reverted back to the old version as I thought it important to get the place up and running again as soon as possible. Im now working back on the new software version and once its stable, another 30 minutes downtime at some point in the future is all thats needed to get the site to th new version (frantically looking for wood to touch)
-
Well thats it - here e are on the new server. It may take a little time for people to get directed to the new servers IP address but hopefully it shouldnt be too long. Wheres the new look you ask? Well, there's a story behind that, but the short version is, that about 3 hours into the move, it became apparent that one of the add ons to the new software had not installed properly, and had caused the platform to work incorrectly. Rather than trying to fix it then and proceed with the transfer to new software at the same time as the move, Plan B was activated - just switch the old version back on and perform repair work to th new version in the background. At least tha way people dont get to miss out on the forum for too long. : Further updates about the new version shortly.
-
Oh we have some great new moderation and admin tools to play with on the new server, Im fairly certain the users will get a few new gadgets to play with too
-
UPDATE: The move will be taking place today. The downtime is scheduled to take place later on this evening, with the move being completed by late tonight. During the move the forum will be closed and you will be unable to make any further posts. As the move will mean a change of IP address for the server, it may be some time before you are directed to the new site, though we are looking at ways to automatically redirect you to the new server whilst this change populates. We may be able to reopen these boards for viewing only later on this evening, while the change takes place, you may still be able to read the existing posts here - though this is not guaranteed. Dont worry, we wont be gone long....

Depends on quality of each to be honest. I have a pioneer plasma which is miles better than one of the LCDs I own, but I have another LCD which almost matches it, but only when in HD - the pioneer displays a much better picture when in SD mode than the LCD. A good quality plasma will spank a moderate LCD, but conversley a good quality LCD will outshine a mediocre plasma. To be honest my pioneer plasma cost a fortune when I bought it, and its still got a beter picture quality than most of the new ones, I suppose you get what you pay for.

Dont switch to an AV channel, switch it to standard analogue aerial.. You are looking for this Liam:

All, 350z-uk.com is undertaking a move to another server shortly. During this process you may experience a slow response from the web site. Please accept our apologies for any disruption this may cause. The move to a new host will also incorporate a move to an updated software version too, so expect a new look. We will of course try to ensure that the current look and feel is maintained as much as possible, though if there are any issues with the new software we would gladly welcome any feedback in the suggestions section. Once we have more definite times scheduled for the actual change over these will be posted. Regards, 350z-uk.com team.

I had this too, but mine was due to a video game being played on it a little too much. As others have said, get some noise on it (ie an untuned tv reception with the black and white snow/speckles), just switch it to analogue tv and pull the aeriel out. Wack up the brightness and contrast while its on that, and leave it overnight. Most newer plasmas dont suffer from this as much, but they all will suffer to some degree. Its very often not "burn" either, rather image retention, which is non permanent. Noise overnight with the brightness and contrast wacked up should probably do the trick.

GTR34 as above would be undriveable for normal conditions. R35 GTR - £65k? Err nope. New Aston Martin at £75k? Although we dont buy cars as an investment, thats just going to bleed money in depreciation. 2/3 yr old DB9 for me please. Whether its an "older" persons car or not. -

Just caught up with this Liam - conratulations All the best for you and your family for the future! -
Usual Disclaimer - this is guide and follows the practises set out by 350z-uk.com. Just a very quick guide on removing the front bumper. If you have headlight washers you will need to disconnect the piping on removal. 1) Jack up the front of the car and support on two axle stands, remove the two front wheels; 2) Underneither the front bumper begin to remove the 10mm screws holding the splash guard to the front bumper and also the ones holding the inner arch splash guard, (4 on each inner arch and about 6 along the front of the bumper) 3) Next move into the wheel well and remove the body fixing clips (pop the middle out with a flat screwdrive) 4) One all clips are removed, remove the inner arches, these are hooked into the inner wing lip, a bit of movement free's them up nicely. Once removed set aside 5) Open the bonnet and look at the top of the bumper, in my case I have the carbon air division panel, this needs to be removed by removing the 6 body work clips (again use a flat bladed screwdriver to remove the centre of the clip. Before After 6) back down to the arch, where the bumper meets the wings there should be 2 10mm bolts on each side, you may want a little extention bar on the rachet to avoid the headlight mounts. The 2nd photograph below it taken from the ground facing up and you can clearly see the two bolts, the first one is just for positional referance. 7) Once these are out on both sides, the bumper will side out towards from the front of the car. It sits on two metal bracket just under the light and if you feel any resistance just check its not cause on these brackets. And this will be your finished result 8) Obviously refitting is just a reversal of removal. Please feel free to add or delete steps Dan Credit to dcash5 for this guide - post reinstated so as to be helpful to others.

Ultra Yellow Bumper Respay *UPDATED PICS*
Chesterfield replied to Beavis's topic in Paint & Protection
Mine was a headache Dave. The bodyshop that did mine had to make 27, yes twenty seven sample cards before they were happy with the match. Looks like you got a good one there too! -
As with others Andrew, there is little that can be added that has not already been written. You and your dad have always been and continue to be very valued members of this community and great friends to many. Our thoughts remain with you and we all continue to wish for a positive progression for Phil, let us hope this is just a temporary set back along the road to a recovery we all hope for.

The ONLY way to be certain that none of your old files can be recovered by anyone from your old hard drive, is to destroy it. The least messy route would be to take the hard drive apart, get the actual platters of the disk, and destroy them. Sticking it in a vice and drilling numerous holes through it would do the trick too.

Dealers are telling me there isnt a recession
Chesterfield replied to martinmac's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Strange, I visited a car showroom yesterday for a decent marque and they were all too aware of the recession. The models priced in their show room were "only" about 7-8% higher than those on autotrader etc, which are certainly priced to sell. I was told by a BMW dealer a couple of months ago that "we dont do deals on the new cars as we dont need to". Hmm, I wonder if thats still true ?
