Sounds like its just come to the end of its life like you have stated. To be honest at 64k it may be on the second clutch in the cars life already, they don’t last as long as other vehicles but thats just a blanket statement, obviously tons of variables involved. I am on my 4th clutch in 20k miles but thats with lots of track abuse. Lots of traders on here can sell/fit or both for you a new clutch disc, flywheel, slave either separate or full kits.

0nyx99 started following Issue: Clutch slipping during acceleration and clutch deterioration
-
I understand this is a well-discussed issue, but I wish to dive a bit deeper in case anyone has come across this issue in particular. I picked up a pretty good 2005 DE GT 6 months ago. It had its fair share of wear but pretty good all round for 64k miles, it seems like the previous owner has done quite a lot of work restoring it to OEM+ and replaced a few things that were in need of replacement. This brings me to my current issue - Since purchase the clutch began slipping in 6th gear when accelerating, increasing revs with no influence on speed, then the revs drop back down and level out in accordance to acceleration. Despite this early warning sign I continued driving the car. Over the months it slowly got worse, slipping in lower and lower gears to less and less effect, unfortunately I had to drive the car and was away from my usual base of operations. The previous owner has stated that he replaced the clutch slave cylinder and replaced the lines with HEL braided lines. This leads me to believe there was an issue before he sold it to me. Early on during these warning signs, I checked the pedal adjustment, which seemed to have already been adjusted (another red flag) and the dead zone had plenty of space, so I was able to rule that out pretty quickly. Next I decided to replace the clutch fluid, thinking there may be some moisture or air in the lines meaning the clutch wasn't fully disengaging, but this also failed to produce results and the old fluid was pretty fresh. Obviously now I've let it degrade this far it's going to be a significantly more expensive fix. But that's not what I'm hugely worried about... The fact that this issue degraded at a significant rate 64k miles in with other signs pointing towards the idea this issue was present before I purchased the car, I need to figure out what the issue is before I go ahead and ruin a new clutch. Unless I'm being paranoid and its simply come to the end of its life meaning a replacement kit will solve the issue. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Many thanks.

It's always sad when they go. I have been back in Zeds 4 times now. They're such great cars. So what's next then?
-
The end of an era. Yesterday the new owner came and bought the Z, it's weird how cars can hold so much emotional value and this almost feels like losing a friend. I've given the new owner the link to this thread, if he'd like to keep it up to date that's up to him - I wish him all the best and I know that he'll have an amazing time owning this absolute gem. Farewell my fairlady...
-
Haven't updated a thread in a long time as the car had no problems to fix and was in a state I was happy with mod-wise, so here's a few of my favourite pictures of the last 6 months:

Hi has anyone got any information on fixing the interior mirror to a polycarbonate windscreen. I'm wondering if standard mirror adhesive would cause damage to the plastic.

Don't use it, synchromesh needs friction to function. You only need to use OE spec gearbox fluid.

Hello, Looking for a CD09 Gearbox please. No unwanted noises. Let me know what you got!

Oh, almost forgot! It looks like the brake calipers were installed the wrong way around - the left one was on the right, and the right one was on the left. It took us a while to figure out what was wrong, but then we noticed the bleeding valves were at the bottom. Nobody touched the brakes in the UK, so I’m assuming this was done in Japan
