Window problem, or is someone targeting my car?

If this is just the standard window motor issue then I apologise for creating this thread.

A few days ago I noticed that the passenger side window on my 2005 350z was fully down even though the car hadn't been used for a day or so. The window was up when I left the house, and down when I returned a few hours later. I checked with everyone in the house and nobody used the car for anything, or had put the window down. I assumed it was just the window motor problem, but when I started the car up the window worked perfectly fine. Just as a precaution, I switched the car around so it was facing the other way (the passenger side normally faces the road), so if it happened again it wouldn't be so easily noticeable for any passer by who fancied messing with my car. I haven't driven the car since because I was worried that the window might open again when parked in a public place.

I've been checking the windows every day since and they've both been perfectly fine. Then yesterday I had another issue. I left the house in my other car and the windows were both up and seemed to be fully sealed, I returned about 2 hours later and noticed that the driver side window (the side now facing the road) was out of the seal. It was as though the door had been opened and closed again but the window hadn't dropped a bit to get past the frame. Once again, I checked with my folks and they hadn't touched the keys. Both of these incidents occurred in the daytime.

Is it possible that both of my window motors are being a bit funky? Has anybody else had similar experiences before? If it's not the window motors, then would it be a stretch to assume that someone is messing with my car?

Does not sound too good, although I do not personally have experience of a window problem to be able to advise further.

Do your folks by chance have camera's on the house you can face to view your car.

As another precaution you could buy a crock lock. I know they are easily broken but work well as another deterrent.

Surely an electric window cant be forced down without popping it from the rails = buggered or forcing so hard it breaks the ratchet / mechanism = buggered , our cars need the key to be turned to ignition on for the motors to operate, so more likely someone in your residence is either a sitting in it and operating the windows or b driving it and the same, either way remove the keys from your residence ie keep them on your person at all times and if the incidence then stops you have your answer though that then opens a whole new can of worms about trust issues.

It's u likely to be a problem with the window motor since both have been affected. Just a guess a battery issue can cause some weird and wonderful symptoms. I'm not an expert tho. Setup the iPad to record for a few hours n see if it picks anything up?

May have to do this.

I had the battery replaced last year when I was getting it serviced (would go flat in the cold if I didn't drive it every single day), but I'll get the battery checked again just to make sure. I will be hiding the keys as well. Not too worried about the car getting nicked, I don't have anything valuable in it and it's blocked in by another car anyway. So if someone does manage to steal it, then fair play to them, they must have really wanted it!

I kind of hope that it's just someone at my house sitting in my car like a bit of a wally as opposed to anything else though. That'll be easily fixed with some stern words as opposed to £££.

Why did you get your battery changed and what had it been changed too. The zed takes a large battery, you could have been given an underpowered or duff one. It could also be an issue with alternator not charging your battery.

I'd start by trying to rule out the current battery by checking the current charge.

Quick update, everything seems to be ok since I've blatantly blocked the car in when I'm not using it. Triple checked with everyone in the house, and somebody owned up to accidentally leaving the passenger side window open. No idea what happened with the driver side window a few days after that, but nothing has happened since then. I'll post an update if anything else happens, hopefully it's all good now.
