Boot pop up (again)

Gas struts make no difference to pop - only to staying open when it's up. The angle is just far too severe for them to help with pop.

Sticky pads for the bottom of the springs work, though getting them to bond long term to the rubber is a PITA

Yep good point, that is true. ;)

for the initial 'pop' you need either the penny trick (about 3p per side cured mine) or buy some new springs (expensive)

for the lift and staying up, the struts definitely don't work as well when its cold out - in summer they're fine, but in winter the boot constantly tries to eat me. I'll be removing the bootlid weight this weekend, hopefully removing a kilo of weight from the very back of the boot will help!

Took the weight out of my Nismo boot. Worked for a day. Suppose next step is to get the springs replaced under warranty.

Which is exactly what I am doing - suppose to be a fault - but the bloke at nissan also said that the month long wait for these poppers are because it's Nismo related.... Yep.
