Back to the Cat's... how do I tell if it has been de-catted? Would it just be the same width i.e just a pipe no chamber?

 

I had a look and there is still 2 chambers on the Y pipe... God I sound like an idiot trying to describe myself!

 

Edit - What I am trying to say is it looks like they are both still there!

your y pipe looks like this one:

 

 

the two chambers or in it are simply flex joints, to allow the exhaust to move around a bit. They arent the cats.

 

Standard nissan cats look like this (attached to a standard y pipe):

That bottom picture is exactly what I have, sorry to confuse things again, didn't mean to say on the Y pipe! I meant to say there is a chamber coming from the Y piece past the flex joint.
