Roscoe Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Evening all, not sure if this is the correct section to post this. Basically I've brought a private reg for my car sent all the bits off the the DVLA, have now got the log book (v5c) back with my new reg no. on. Question is when can I apply the plates to the car as I have not yet received the new mot certificate or a replacement tax disc. The dvla have not included any other instructions with the log book. New to all this so not too sure on what the deal is. Thanks in advance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
ragtopzed1 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I have also gone down the private plate route. Did it at my local licensing centre in Bournemouth, they supplied everything at the same time as well as giving me authority for new plates to be made up. I should get onto them as you have paid the fee for all this to be done and it all needs to be there not just the log book. Best of luck, would'nt change to your new plates just yet till the other paperwork turns up. Quote
davedutch Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Just done mine, basically the letter of authority to make plates should come with new tax disc and MOT, once you have the letter you can legitimately have plates made and fitted & put replacement tax disc on display. Quote
ZEUS Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 When I did mine you needed to wait until all your paperwork is back (new mot and tax disc) not worth getting done for. Quote
Roscoe Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Thanks for the reply's i will wait for the other bits to arrive just want them on now haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Ekona Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Have you got the letter from them giving you permission to get the new plates made up yet? If you've got that and the V5, I'd swap them over. Quote

WhackyWill Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Just go to FancyPlates.com and get your plates made while your waiting for the DVLA to catch up. Quote
Ricey Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Surprising that really. The V5 normally takes a lot longer than the MOT and tax disc. Quote
Crb Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Don't forget to change your insurance policy also 😠1 Quote
maddog1982 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 my V5 turned up two days before the paper work. I actually fitted as soon as the V5 arrived as I wasnt aware I was waiting for paper work! Quote
Roscoe Posted December 18, 2013 Author Posted December 18, 2013 Hopefully the other bits will be at home when I get in from work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Richie-B Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Just swapped mine over, v5 came then I got the plates made, a couple of days later the tax disk came. That's when you can fit the plates and tell the insurance. I am sure I read there was a few weeks grace change over period though Quote
Roscoe Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Other bits turned up today. Plates are now on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
