Last time I got a serious surprise was when I was 8/9 and got a Mega Drive for Christmas.

 

Although I did get a nice scarf last year as a side present that I didn't know I was getting.

 

To be honest I'd much rather know what I'm getting or get something I need/want than get something the opposite.

 

Unfortunate I suppose but in reality it's the best way to go I reckon.
