Ridz Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Fellow Zeders, I've have my Zed a year now and whilst the engine bay looks reasonable,I want t get it to a good standard. However, I am rather wary about mixing water and electrics! Should I use cling film or aluminium foil to mask off electrics? Any advice on process to follow or technique? Also any advice on degreasers and dressing would be most welcome! Ridz Quote
ioneabee Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013  so a flexible waterproof covering or a piece of metalic electrical conducting covering.................hmmm let me think Quote
GMballistic Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Plastic bags and electrical tape all good for keeping electrics dry. Plenty of products available to use. Last time I did this to an engine bay I used Gunk engine degreaser and also Autoglym intensive tar remover. The intensive tar remover is great for wiping over stickers and making them look like brand new again. Quote

WhackyWill Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I found a garage with a proper high pressure steam cleaner, and for £20 my engine bay was immaculate.. Quote
downhuman Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Plastic bags over electrics (not that I usually bother tbh, but better safe than sorry). Douse engine bay in Autobrite Jaffa Clean http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index.php/autobrite-jaffa-clean-degreaser-cleaner-protectant.html Then dry off or leave to dry naturally with engine warmth Job done, cheaply and easily Quote
GMballistic Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 GM, Thank you for your constructive advice No problem. Quote
HAMLNJ Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 There are ways to make it look brand new without pressure washing. But I'm on my third beer now .....pm me? Haha Quote
Richf Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I'm very reluctant to put high pressure water anywhere near a modern cars engine bay , a decent degreaser and a water can will often do the job well without any risk Quote
Dave-350 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Grimereaper by chemical guys is another one Quote
