haha not me  and im not talking about just your comments, but I can guess who most people on here have had dealings with

To quote Paul Simon...All along along, there were incidents and accidents, there were hints and allegations :boxing:

It's all a mystery to me

How often one may need just one Genuine Brembo caliper? 1 in 10.000?

There is always ebay for breakers, I found some really good deals on there and you can also negotiate, make offers, etc. Very flexible sellers like:

A1 JAP SPARES - http://stores.ebay.c.../A1JAPSPARESLTD

Emperor Turning - http://stores.ebay.c.../Emperor-Tuning

SAS PARTS - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/sas-parts

REDCARPARTS - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/REDCARPARTS

and many many others

I completely agree with you. But some traders on here have gone way out of their way to help me. Some won't reply because I asked them if they stocked something that wasn't in their catalogue as such. TBH none of this bothers me, the people who bum some traders to the max used to annoy me but whatever makes them happy.

I think its great that as a forum we have so many traders, in that respect members have a lot of options and almost every avenue is covered. A lot of the traders also offer a lot of free help and advice you wouldn't get maybe in a shop, and the fact that some reply at all kind of hours and at such speed; is also great for members and the forum. But like a reverse silver lining in order to get this kind of setup sometimes the forum has sacrificed being member centric and turned trader centric. My biggest concern is that people see lots of positives, but only very occasionally do people speak out about bad service. And the sad fact is the mod team if there is a genuine issue are pretty good at terminating trade contracts if members are put at risk. There has been at least 5 companies I know of that have been given the boot. I thinknlike coldel said if your going to feedback it should be what I call zed shed feedback. These guys give up their time and garage for free to help members out at short notice and all for the cost of some donuts. And these guys aren't even traders. Yes speedy service is important. But feedback threads are not an accurate gauge of real service.

The worst is when you have a small problem and everyone tells you its your fault. I'm not one of these people who needs to pm anyone for anything really. I don't ask the traders for advice much as I know it will be bias towards their service and parts. Not always but it can be. But when I said a certain person didn't want my business people said it was my fault and i shouldn't of pestered them? I didn't but whatever. Then I got a pm telling me how busy etc etc they where. If you don't want my business just be a man and say so and do one. Them being busy and trying to make out it my fault, yeah thats how it works in the real world.

Most won't remember as its before there time, but there used to be a trader on here of envious reputation in the performance parts market. I knew of someone in their shop order parts. Right in front of the guy they got the catalogue out for the American company, looked up the part, then doubled the price. I miss the good old days of big Phil

Lol, it's quite interesting reading some of the comments on this thread, thankfully as me and Rich are friends I know that the original post wasn't about me.

I don't mind being the first trader to chip in with a comment though, I'm not one to ask for feedback nor do I ever not put prices up.

Having spent 9 months out of my life looking at pricing I can tell you it's difficult, you can never be the cheapest on every single item you sell, it's just impossible you have to work on margins, competitors and risk.

I can only comment on my own business, I've been doing it for nearly three years now, I only wanted a few extra quid to pay for car stuff and for the vast majority of time I worked one or at times two other jobs while not ever taking a wage from Tarmac Sportz. I'm quite proud that I started with nothing ( literally 5 sets of bonnet lifters ) and reinvested every penny back into the business, I still have nothing lol but I do have a business that should grow from strength to strength fingers crossed.

Rich personally knows the hours upon hours I have put into this business, I haven't managed a lads night in about two years, I research as best I can and I price most things cheaper than buying direct from the US, it won't always be the case obviously.

What I would say being in the position I'm in is try it. It doesn't cost much to be a member trader £25 a year. If your successful you may even get a subforum ;) .

I know of at least one trader that requests positive feedback when you purchase something from them - I refused to massage they're ego & I got blacklisted and could no longer buy parts from them - I know that RTBiscuit is talking about this particular trader & I'd hazard a guess that they are one of Octets 3 as well  and maybe even dblock from the description

Proper genuine parts don't tend to have issues in my experience, bought tones of parts from US, never had a problem, either brand new or fairly used. So, to me, warranty was never a problem with stuff bought abroad, by the contrary, had problems with stuff purchased from traders here.

Buying from traders on this forum or in fact any trader in UK, shouldn't be "taking a chance", as they should all offer warranty as the law requires:

http://ec.europa.eu/...07_EN_final.pdf

http://www.thisismon...nty-EU-law.html

http://www.youandyou....co.uk/news/218

"A two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU. In some countries, this may be more, and some manufacturers also choose to offer a longer warranty period."
