Wish I had internet like that.

:console:

Had to rely on 3G for a couple of weeks when away, certainly put it in perspective

My internet used to be great. With BE/o2. But now at peak times it slows down and you can't do everything you want to do.

Will we who live in small villages ever get a faster connection to the internet ?

Mine's 2.5/07 Mb/s

Same as mine, I can't really see a massive improvement any time soon. I think the most I'd ever get would be around 4mb. Personally I'm not too bothered, I'd much rather live out in the wilds with a slow connection than on a housing estate with superfast broadband , but that's just me.

Very true, When I lived in the sticks I missed the big city

Horses for course as they say at Tesco....

I would like to remain out in the wilds AND have a decent Internet connection though. I am pinning my hopes on 4G because I can't see anything else ever coming out here since we have no gas or even mains drainage. My friend recently returned from a third world country and was getting a far better signal than we get at home, even when he was away from the towns.

Do you have good 3G service because if yiu don't then don't pin your hopes on 4G as it will almost certainly use the same tech...

4G has longer range though? My problem is distance from the exchange.

And that will always be my problem. I'm 7km's away, in fact I'm the last house on the line. My nearest neighbours about half a mile away are on a different exchange, not that they fare any better as they are 11km's from their exchange and get half a meg I believe.

Major problem, speed has dropped to next to nothing and bombs out every few minutes. Suspect a fault on the line, probably where the wire passes through some trees.

I hear you, I remember as a youth trying to pause VHS on Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, then you end up with shaky image of Dirty Doug or the fat guy from Jurassic Park licking his lips and sweating.

Typical woman, always wants longer...

And men don't? Jeez I'd love to double my length!

I'm fine, if I doubled my length I would keep tripping over it :teeth:

We had a break in internet service last night  but back to 300mb+ this morning :yahoo:

Back on line today. Much as I expected there was a break in the line where it passes through a clump of trees, in fact they found a couple more areas where the cable was damaged and replaced a whole section of line. According to the B.T engineer once the green box at the top of our lane is upgraded (whenever that'll be) I should get anything from 16-30mb :) .

BTW, I don't know why my speed was being reported as a TalkTalk connection. I left them about 4 years ago.
