doctor austin Posted October 10, 2012 Share Posted October 10, 2012 wont be battery as the way it works is the fob is waiting for a signal from the transmitter in the car when this happens it turns the signal into power to run a circuit in the fob to give a handshake...The fob can have problems if its near a mobile phone or some stray signal. I've seen the interference problem a few times with other cars; the most common culprit was wireless doorbell systems !!! (As far as I know it is only possible with Consult 3). This fault usually caused by faulty key or antenna (rarely receiver ECU or interference with other radio signals (try to get a same fault at different place to rule out interference)). Than it's possible you have an internal fault of the I-Key ECU have it checked by a specialist or Nissan Dealer if you are brave enough Should come under Nissan Warranty I guess it's only a 10 plate with 7 k on the clock. Zugara Posted October 11, 2012 Author Share Posted October 11, 2012 Ok.... Been doing some Internet searching from across the pond, this problem seems mainly to affect 2009/2010 370z. Loads of issues in USA. There was mentions of hearing the wheel lock whir in and out when the cars ignition is turned off/ on, but when switched off it won't fire until the door is opened. Anyway, I never got the whirring noise, so it must have been jammed in the unlock position fortunately. I turned the wheel with the ignition off and door closed to its full turning circle both ways, in one direction I heard a positive clunk and the wheel was locked, pressed the start button and heard the whir of the locking pin being pulled out, wheel now free to turn, so I am hoping that was the issue..........
