DB9 is in for a service next Monday ... hope they don't find anything too expensive :surrender:

Are you expecting them not to find that it needs oil and an oil filter then? Thats probably a grand on its own ;)

My dads mate has a vanquish. In his first year of ownership (about 2k miles) it cost him about £4k in maintenance I'm sure. The Vanquish is altogether a different beast though.

This is the quote I got from Derby Motor Services

Hello sir and thank you for your enquiry, the 5th year service for a DB9 inclusive of Genuine parts, Labour and the vat is £552.77, if you have any queries please let me know

Not too bad I thought, I've saved twice that using the Arosa for work instead of the Zed over the last 6 months

Yep you gotta get them serviced yearly no matter how many miles you do so it's a bit expensive if you don't get the use .... a bit like the costs for a boat if you don't live near the sea or a lake lol

Thats a quality price.

I had my old Merc serviced at Mercedes once - special offer for the bigger of the 2 services £350..........not bad I thought.

10.30 I get a call - ok Mr Rice, we've looked at the car and it needs the spark plugs and air filter changing as well so that will be £600. You also need a new boot on some joint or another and the power steering reservoir is leaking so in total its £950 :scare: ]

.......errrm. How about feck off - was the response they received. The bloody car was only worth 4k! My own fault for going to Merc though I guess.

I've already had the car checked over and MOTd at the garage I always used for the Zed .... that's why I'm hopeful ..... oh and mine's worth a bit more than 4K hopefully lol

I do miss the Zed though but I'm glad I sold it; it was way down on oil pressure and was using 1 ltr per 800 miles at the end .... that's why I traded it for the Polo instead of handing it over to someone on here

Does that price include all parts they need for the 5th year service though? I ask as Porsche are a bit sneaky with their pricing, as a 2nd service (4th year) in only £500 but doesn't include the spark plugs which must also be changed to keep the warranty going, which is another £300 on top, along with the brake fluid change which is also necessary and not included... The list goes on, and that's why premium cars are not always the bargain they first look when you look at servicing costs. Doesn't bother me as I've budgeted for it, but I bet it catches a lot of people unaware.

Have you considered doing the service yourselves Chesterfield and ATTAK Z?

I know time is an issue when you are working and you may need some specialist parts, but what you save on servicing soon pays for these. You also know the service has been done properly  . Once the car is out of warranty makes no difference on the residual value either. I like getting my hands dirty so not a problem for me. I know some people hate doing it.

Big problem for me .... I'm an Engineer not a mechanic lol .... I designed and built my own house (all the trades except plastering) but I wouldn't be able to service a car .... I'm using an AM specialist (rather than my trusted local non specialist) just to keep the service history in order .... I'll be letting the car go next year so it's important that I do it this way

Are you glad you bought it or would you go for something else now?

Oh yes I'm glad I've got it and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, especially the 'volante' bit .... the wife doesn't like having the roof down though ... maybe she'll come round when the sun really comes out

The only other thing I would have swapped the Zed for would have been a better 350

The thing is with the fezza you can extend the warranty each year for up to 7 or 8 years, and although I dont expect that to be cheap either, I suspect it would be cheaper than a repair bill. Im currently requesting pricing info from the dealers on servicing & extending the warranty, Im also wanting to book it in for a couple of bits under warranty, one of which they said would be covered which is some peeling protective film under the luggage compartment and in the door jams, and also a spot of condensation in each headlight. Dont know if they will cover the latter, but worth a try.

They will usually come and collect and return it on a covered trailer too - which again is convenient.
