srobrien Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Just requoted myself from bell.co.uk, last year I paid £900, this year I was quoted £800 so I fiddled with my info slightly, nothing bad just changed garaged to kept on street, reduced my milage, upped my excess slightly...revised figure £650! Group 20, 27 years old and 2 yrs NCB...not too shabby! Quote
shire350Z Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 It's got to be cheaper in a garage try like for like just changing garage and street parking and see what happens Quote

flyboy Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Street always the cheapest Followed by drive Then garage. Seems being seen nicking it or not is the deciding factor in this, not how secure it is. Quote
shire350Z Posted March 3, 2011 Author Posted March 3, 2011 All insurance companies I spoke with so it's always cheaper in the garage Quote
flyboy Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 must be a postcode thing or something . Anyway my garage is now a utility and office since the missus had her way Quote

DoogyRev Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 My Mrs has been looking at insurance today and 3 different firms have all said that renewals have gone up because collectively they were£1.6 billion off last years profit. So they just sting us lot to make up for it. Quote
Pimm Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Amending my policy to say the car is kept on the drive and not the garage increases it by £10 Quote

So they just sting us lot to make up for it. Indeed. While the rest of the country fights recession, the insurance companies live in a lovely bubble of a world where customers are legally required to have a product from a private firm. Isn't it interesting that by law you must have car insurance, and by law the government has no jurisdiction over how much profit a private company is allowed to make. That is the sole reason why insurance costs go up every single year, and nothing else. Quote

Cheapest quote ive had is £750 and thats with 18 years NCB. All the "specialist" insurerer who claim to offer forum / owners club discounts all came in at around the £1300 mark!!!! Quote

royal bengal Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Well Im suffering from a "blace ice" incident in december 2010 hit the central reservation and the garage chris knott used charged them £5000 to repair front end, strut damage and a new set of alloys and tyres...........my mate in the trade was gobsmacked how much they charged to repair it! My insurance renewal is now £850 from £450 even though I had protected no claims, I personally think that is outrageous! Thoughts people? Admiral have qouted me £650, so has Elephant, waiting on a sky insurance callback. Quote
