waynehardy Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Is anyone having any problems with opening the boot on their 370? when i first got the car it took a single press to release the boot no problem. However each time i now i go to open the boot (after pressing the release once) it opens part way then seems to get stuck and wont relase completely until ive pressed the button again....its starting to annoy me now and wonder if this is a common issue? stanski Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Sounds like the issue with the 350 - i,e you need to prop the boot release up with pennies! Some things dont change - if its in warranty get the stealers to fix it for you Quote
cmck13 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I assume its the same issue that we get on 350z, if so they lose their spring memory see this link for info, it has already been in many topics before. viewtopic.php?f=35&t=37034&hilit=penny+trick Quote
martinmac Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 It sounds like there was a tsb out in the states for it. http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-warr ... trunk.html Quote
waynehardy Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 ahhhh im glad im not alone! sounds like i better ring Nissan....excuse my ignorance but whats TSB? Quote
chippy Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Technical Service Bulletin. Let us know how it goes! Quote
R35LEE Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Thought they would have sorted this for the 370's. Easy fix though Quote
Ebized Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Like the 350's the hatch on the 370's will not always open without a helping hand - here is the US TSB - and like other documents Nissan use 350 images Quote
clarkie34 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Can't believe this is still a problem.Nissan can't even get the basics right. Quote
Chris`I Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I think you can get new springs in the UK also. Speak to your dealer Quote
philb1965 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Same on my car, even worse now it's freezing cold, I get a nice creaking noise when it opens! Quote
Rob Gaskin Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Yes this is the same on my 370. I had the similar problem on the 350 and overcame that by removing the 'weight' fitted to the hatch lid! Is there one in a 370? Quote
cmck13 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Can't believe this is still a problem.Nissan can't even get the basics right. My quote from July this year on the same issue:- Got the same problem, just cannot believe we can send a man to the moon and here we are 40 years later sticking pennies in a boot to make it open? I used to put pennies in a door to go to the loo in a public toilet (cleaned that one up for you). Heath Robinson or what, the daft thing is that Nissan dealers are well aware of these issues and have left them abandoned. Quote
wab172uk Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 MIne has never opened by itself. Always have to open it by hand after pressing the button. Quote
oxfordlad Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I've had my springs supposedly replaced, things where okay for a while but now back to having to have two presses to release the boot.... Quote
waynehardy Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 my car is booked in with Nissan for Wednesday...apparently they have Nissan 'technical' down to the showroom then who may have a look at it... Quote
wab172uk Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Had mine in for a service last week. It's in again this saturday for new parts on the Boot. Quote
Rob Gaskin Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Well West Way Coventry fitted new 'lifter' springs at the recent service and it's work fine since (2 weeks). Quote
Pr1ngle Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Took mine in for a service last week and asked them to look at the boot release. They confirmed it was faulty. Repaired under warrenty. Boot opening on a single press of the button Checked it today, and still opening (5 days later) Quote
ioneabee Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 had mine done last week as well - no problems so far ...... Quote
DoogyRev Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Can you not get the struts re-gassed at a higher pressure? ......... just not so much to take your chin off when you press the release Quote
cmck13 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Can you not get the struts re-gassed at a higher pressure? ......... just not so much to take your chin off when you press the release I would be interested in doing this I know you can get them re-gassed but who does a slightly higher pressure?
