sidekickdmr Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hey, just put a deposit on a temper orange 350z 313bhp. I'm 23, 24 on Friday and the best quote I have so far is £1,300 from admiral! I'm fairly happy with this but can you recommend any other companies to try that were cheap for you? Thanks Quote
un1eash Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Thats cheap and i doult you'll get it much cheaper. Most specialist club insurers will only insure you when your 25. My renewal for the year was just over £1000, i'm 27 with 2 years NCD but i do have 3 points and 2 claims. Quote
UNABASHED Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 that's pretty much best you will get I think, as said above most specialist (maybe ALL specialist) insurers will only look at people over 25 to keep the cost down for the older drivers Quote
Ruddles Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 That's quite high considering you are the same age as me. The year of the Zed surely doesn't affect your premium by such an amount. For example myself; 23 y/o, 3 yrs NCB, 53 plate, roughly £950. Quote
AMT Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Thats not bad, I'm soon to be 27, 3points (well there off but still needing to declare for another 2 yr ) and also a crash in the last 5 year. 2 yrs NCB. £1060. So yours is not bad at all, especially for a 24 year old. Admiral have done me good, my old car the price kept tumbling at renewal Quote
Jay Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 That's expensive as I was paying about 800 when I was 24, only last year. Oh and that was with admiral Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Had quotes on HR engines and DE engines. Big difference between the two. Quote
Gudzy Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 With admiral try adding named drivers which are more experienced and have a clean driving history. Also, if you park it on the road it's cheaper than being on a drive or garage with admiral. Those 2 tips took a couple of hundred pounds off my quote. Quote
L4V15 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I had my previous zed when I was 23. It was a pre facelift however I was paying around £700 with Bell Insurance. They're ideal for young drivers with high insurance group cars. I'm not 25 with a facelift zed paying slightly less. I also recommend adding a second driver who is a sensible female driver with lots of years experience. Maybe your mum or something. Whether she drives it or not Let me know how it goes. Steve Quote
370Ad Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 £450 and i am 23 with Admiral, obviously you need to take into account much more than age... Try this: Go through confused.com and put the policy start date 30 days in advance, i imagine Admiral will come up top, you can then go directly through to Admirals website from confused and you have to enter a few final details before you pay, one of these is the policy start date. At this point the quote is produced so changing the date to the actual one doesn't change the price. Last year this saved me £78.... Quote
AMT Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) I changed my car there and paid like £20 up until the 13th of this month when it renews but I was able to pay the full year too. when I checked the new prices online the quote they gave me over the phone was even better... £200+ cheaper! Surprised I was... lol Whatever you do... pay it in full if you can...some companies charge up to £400 more for DDEB! Edited November 4, 2012 by AMT250 Quote
ThriftyFifty Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) 23 years old, no no claims bonus and I pay £800 with admiral. 06 plate JDM Edited November 4, 2012 by ThriftyFifty Quote
Whazza22 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I'm 23 and pay £600 with Bell insurance for fully comp with 3years no claims Quote
ddcboyle Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Things you can look into which helped me, adding parents on as secondary drivers (if they have high no claims, no points or low points etc), Once you get a quote you think is reasonable, phone them up and see if you can get lower. I managed to get elephant, from 700 to 540 by doing 10months insurance but get a year NCB for it. And spoke about paying 540 over 2 months instead of paying 800 over the whole year in monthly installments. Quote
yumyum Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Have a look at sky insurance and adrian flux, I'm about 780 with a million mods declared, living in London Quote
Bobbyheinz Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I'm 21 and my renewal from Admiral has just come in for my 350 and my Fiat Bravo on a multi car policy for 1211. That's me only driving 2 years and with 1 years NCB. You could put a female on as a named driver to bring the costs down Quote
MrsNiki Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 i'm a 27yr old female, 56 plate 350z, 8yrs no claims and i pay just over £500 a year, but have added my mum and my boyfriend to the policy to bring down costs, which helped loads!! I use diamond at the moment (part of the admiral group) but next time i'll renew through compare the market so i can get a meerkat toy.... 1 Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I really wanted a meerkat toy, but none of their quotes were as good as one I found elsewhere. 1 Quote
Drayvn Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 We're slightly different where i live but i am 28yo and only 1 ncb but have traffic and due care conviction and i only pay £800 Quote
skyinsurance Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 from 700 to 540 by doing 10months insurance but get a year NCB for it. Be careful with that, an awful lot of insurers will not recognise the '10 month NCB' . Ollie Sky Insurance http://www.skyinsurance.co.uk/car-club-insurance.html Quote
