Ekona Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Really quick question guys, but is it possible to fit 2x rear Rays with tyres in the empty boot of a Zed coupe? I'm hoping the answer is yes... Quote
ARphotographs Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 not sure in the boot, but i know you can fit spare wheels in the passenger side of an elise so i'm guessing you could do it that way in a zed as well! Quote
yokomo Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 my best guess would be one yes , 2 get your tape measure out. i got my fujitsubo back box in but couldnt get the oem one in (although my sub box may have been the reason)! Quote
MITZ@CougarStore Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Its not possible, Dan, however, here’s another approach as demonstrated by forum member Rob… Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 i got 4 tyres in the zed, 2 in the front (the rears) and 2 in the boot (fronts) if that helps rear tyres wont fit in the boot, they are just that bit too wide. Quote
givememorepower Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Its not possible, Dan, however, here’s another approach as demonstrated by forum member Rob… Lets hope you don't suffer a side impact and end up with a wheel for a face Hire a van for the day. Quote
nixy Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I had to put rear tyres on my front seat like in CS' pic a few weeks ago, no chance of even one in the boot. Quote
Ekona Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Bugger, much as I suspected. Ah well, I'll have to wrap them up well and chuck them in the front seat of mine then, thanks for that guys. Quote
Maccaman Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I couldn't even get my 19's in and that was without tyres. Admittedly they were in the boxes and had to travel 2 at a time on the passenger side. Got my Rays delivered back to me by the tyre fitters Quote
Ekona Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Roadster maybe different.... No chance, barely got a single naked Ray in the back! Quote
srobrien Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 If you let the air out you may be able to squuze them in. R Quote
Husky Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I couldn't even get my 19's in and that was without tyres. Admittedly they were in the boxes and had to travel 2 at a time on the passenger side. Got my Rays delivered back to me by the tyre fitters hah i got my 4 19's in there in boxes. but tbh it was far from safe and not an enjoable 2 hour journey next time, delivery or van. Quote
nixy Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 yeah but sitting on the boxes while driving is not recommended! Quote
yeti Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I fit a front tire in the boot, just! its a squeeze though Quote
Ekona Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Just a thought (and I'll have a play later), but I reckon if I take the spare out of the roadster's boot and all the extra crap that's in there then I can possibly fit one wheel down there and then pop another behind the pax seat... It's going to be tight in the boot, but the wheel won't have to sit flat in there so that's in my favour at least. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 you don't have to contend with the rear strut brace in a roadster do you? if so you might get 1 tyre in the boot. and if you only need to carry 1 more, i'd ride it on the seat, they are so wide, i don't think it will fit behind the chair even if its pulled right forward. and if it is it will be in the way of your gear changing. Quote
Ekona Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 Strut brace is still there, it just forms part of the firewall between roof mechanism and boot. I've had a wheel behind the seat before and it was fine, had loads of room to pull the seat back to hold it in place. Didn't get a chance to try my amazing disappearing-wheel-in-boot trick tonight as it got dark too quickly, but it can go on my to-do list. Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 how far do they have to go? why not use your pickup? or are you on to somewhere else with the missus afterwards? Quote
Greekman Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Darren does it somehow! one in front of the strut brace and one behind it....uses all sorts of covers and manages to fit a jack and tools in the boot as well!!! Quote
ersen.o Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 i cant even get my 9.5j 275 rim in the boot alone :x Quote
Greekman Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 i cant even get my 9.5j 275 rim in the boot alone :x Darren's were the standard 18 inch rays... Quote
ersen.o Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Yea, so... some of us with wider wheels are pretty much screwed if we get a puncture cuz we cant even get the wheel home :x Quote
Ekona Posted November 25, 2009 Author Posted November 25, 2009 how far do they have to go? why not use your pickup? or are you on to somewhere else with the missus afterwards? Bedford trackday Got a couple of PS2s that need finishing off so am going to take them with me and swap over to my decent pair afterwards. I'd rather pop them in Bean's Zed if I can, but if not then they can travel with me. I'm just trying to be awkward as usual Quote
