I sat there for an hour with a pin cleaning an old phone port, gently pushing the "tongue" back into place, worked for s year after that. My S5 started being a dick not long ago so I sorted it early this time, a few mins with a pin cleaning it out and it was fine again.

I've got an S2 and an S3 sat at home useless cos the charger port failed. S5 now and this one's on the way out.

Have to wiggle the micro usb cable a bit to get it to charge. Then it's on and off. Only a matter of time now until it stops charging all together.

Thats mad. Ive had 2 S2`s, 1 S3 and now had an S5 for the last 2 years and never had any problems at all with the charging ports. What do you do to them?!!

As a side, have you thought of using wireless charging? I cant remember if the s5 has it built in, but i set my s3 up for wireless charging for peanuts. Just lay it on the charging pad and off it goes.

One Plus 3 looks promising, June release......Having not ventured out of Apple's product range since forever it's pretty amazing what good for value phones are out there :) . The 5 will keep going till end of summer if needed, but looking fowards to trying something different.

S series Samsungs. Had them since s2.

Don't touch. I should learn my lesson.

Most annoying thing is charger port always fails.

Same with the Note's, I think it's a general Samsung problem. However, problem solved, QI charging, the future is already here, now. Iv'e have my QI in my Note 3 since I got it and only use the charger port for transferring through my laptop. I can't believe how QI isn't the industry standard already, it's so simple, easy and just a game-changer. :teeth::lol:

Just a note - iPhone SE is great value. Flagship spec for £359! I've upgraded from my iPhone 5 to one, I don't like the new breed of massive phones. Using my full phone screen with 1 hand is a luxury I won't be without!

Personally i am an android guy and always have been ... I love the Google Nexus devices if only because they run stock, vanilla android with none of the bloat and overlays from the providers. A cool alternative that is more privacy focussed would be the Wileyfox Storm ... Awesome value for money and running Cyanogenmod for added goodness ... Google it ...

Why the edge though? The mrs has one only because she wanted a green back to it (sigh). It looks terrible imo, the edge is really distracting.

Just got an S6 edge. Very good phone but feels totally unergonomic in the hand.

Smashed it after 6 days. Unbreakable gorilla glass my knob

Check out Otterbox cases, other than an awesome name they are really good. I beat the ever loving crap out of my phones and it still looks brand new under this case: http://www.otterbox.co.uk/en-gb/galaxy-s6/commuter-series-case/sam4-galaxy-s6.html I even tried the (older) defender case but it was a bit overboard, felt like it would have been safe to drop under a tractor with that thing on but it was too cumbersome.

Instead of saving money with a cheap android handeset, I some how ended with a S7. Had it for a few days now, and love it, so much more customizable than iOS, a much better camera, expandable storage but most impressive of all no longer need to worry about battery life all the time!!! Wife now wants one to replace her 5S :)

Also couldn't resist in ordering this, may be a gimmick but at £90 worth a trial.

I'm lucky to get 4 hours of screen on time with my G4. Admittedly that's with the old battery. The new battery I swap to occasionally fares a bit better, but the G4 really doesn't have good SOT. Aside from that it's a great phone considering the price you can get it for..

My Note 3 used to have terrible battery life, I read up on some tips for cleaning up apps that you don't need and general Phone 'housekeeping' and now it lasts for ages. You have to do like 10 mins housekeeping on it weekly but it makes one hell of a difference!! :D

Must admit I'm loving the S7 had it for a week, it's awesome. I was so bored of new phones but this one has really made my life better for work.

I dare not order the headset incase I lose myself in a world of VR porn and dont come back

My iPhone 5's battery is slowly dying, it's lasted me well and I'm half tempted just to get the battery replaced for £59, but some of the cheaper Android phones have caught my eye.

Especially the One plus 2, £250 gets you a lot of phone. Have always had only iPhone before (Plam Pilot way before), but happy to try something different. Anyone got any experience or Android devices or in particular the One plus 2?? Max budget is £250-300.

Should add not all interested in getting another iPhone, I'm done with Apple and gradually shifting eveything to Windows based devices.

depending on where you live, i can change that battery for you for 20 quid

Not sure about porn, but the Gear VR shop have some interesting content already. The resolution is not great at moment, think Quake 1 quality, but the head tracking is really really impressive, and I find the headset is actually more comfortable to wear compared to 3D glasses.

I'm sure the next S8/S9 will up the resolution to improve things, and it may be a good enough reason to tempt me to upgrade. For FPS games this is the way forwards, they just need to get some kind of arm/hand tracking controller.

This is one of the new games just released, its a free roaming arcade shooter. Can see lots of potential in this VR business!!
