Macca.01
Just bought my Zed Monday absolutely buzzed Trying to insure it If I insured on the day it was 1400 Day after 1300 Friday 940 Well worth looking in advance rather than leaving to last minute Gutted I can't drive it yet but a heads up to those play around with the insurance day as you may find it cheaper Hope this helps
veeg33
Yes, they charge you extra as they know you are desparate to drive it. I usually check 3-4 weeks in advance. However it's not easy sometimes if you just bought it. I was lucky that I managed to switch my old insurance from 1.6 Mini Cooper to Zed with no extra charge. Then get quotes for renewal 1 month in advance for cheapest price. When I bought the Mini, I have to start with new insurance, but managed to secure a drive away 7-days free insurance (being quoted £2,500 if I wish to continue for next 12 months), drove it home, parked on my drive and started the insurance 2 weeks later. A bit risky if it was stolen ...... Edited March 16, 2016 by veeg33
rabbitstew
I noticed this with the wifes insurance on her Kuga. I got a quote on a Monday, then when I got another quote on the wednesday the premium they quoted was miles less! Same company, same details! Mad. Macca.01
Yeah that same as here unfortunately as I'm 22 they wouldn't offer me 7 day drive away Thankfully mine all locked up until Friday and yeah I just bought it so couldn't do in advance Yeah mine was same company crazy just waiting few extra days it drops so much
GreenLandy
The first time I insured, I had a similar issue. I entered a date a month away to get the lower price (used confused.com or similar). When I clicked through to the insurer, I changed the start date to the next day and it didn't affect the price at all

350_Jer
I've just got the insurance sorted for my new 350, the company I was with wanted £2800 ish to insure me (34 y/o, 12yrs NCB) bearing in mind they were charging me £270 a year for my previous car which was a heavily modified BMW e30 track car which was quicker than my 350! Apparently as they are modified specialists they didn't like the fact my new car is completely standard. Ended up paying £360 a year in the end with someone else which I was pleased with
Ukeraa
Zero NCB (no accidents,I was at uni/travelling for years), commuting to work included (I drive to Coventry from Essex bi-weekly), 23 years old = £660 a year . One of the only reasons I can afford the car is because of the low insurance, I initially put it through GoCompare as a joke and it came out cheaper than any other car I was looking at!
