HELP NEEDED - Rear lower brace

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Anybody know where I can locate an aftermarket rear lower brace for my zed. Need it for Friday to get it through the mot. preferably something around the £150 mark or cheaper as it isn't a complex piece. the original looks like a W.

Cheers in advance

Wasn't this discussed recently, just remove it to get through the MoT, its not compulsory?

Then get yourself an Ultra Racing one on order?

oh really? the mot reckons it's holding the fuel tank in which puzzled me. yeah all the ultra racing ones are out of the country at the moment. are they the only aftermarket company that make them? seems a strange one.

I'd be very surprised if a thin rusty piece of metal was in some way integral to the fuel tank... Still, probably not the stupidest thing a car manufacturer has done!

The fuel tank is held up by 2 metal straps that run front to rear, the W brace does not touch or support the fuel tank in any way.

In case that helps

Here they are (The red bits with black rubber covers)

and to prove you don't need the W brace for the tank to stay up

Are you sure? Few on eBay and this company states they have 6 available when I last looked.

Hope that helps.

Just go in get it done without the W brace and sort yourself a nice aftermarket one in your own time, if the MoT tester tries to fail it because it supports the fuel tank then get yourself a tester that knows what he is doing (sorry to sounds harsh but I have heard enough ridiculous stories from MoT testers talking nonsense and trying to fail things that are not even on the inspection list)
