  1. Had the use of Hydraulic ramps in the late summer so crawled under to see state of play. ( a little worried by posts on here). Didn't look to bad at first so i decided to treat some obvious areas . However without a plan i went at it a bit hit and miss. The front X member looked shabby so i rubbed it down as best i could approaching it from all angles and letting son volunteer to do some. Cleaned as much up as possible and then treated with Rustins Rust Converter (hastily bought from local Toolstation). Then painted with black Hammerite which was to hand. Of course all this took at least twice as long as i thought it might ( doesn't it always). When dry i sprayed Dinitrol 1000 cavity wax via extension tube inside the member and all over the exterior. Lots more fiddling/fettling done to varying standards but i did notice many holes/apertures disappearing up into who knows where . Should i be thinking of spraying something oily/waxy into all these ? Or might that be a problem, there was a tube inside one of the holes.? Certainly More to do in the spring. Cheers, JC.

  7. Standard size Uniroyal RainSport 3's all corners cos i like the tread pattern, also it says 'Shark Skin Technology' on the side wall so they must be good.
  8. Probably, but it hasn't caused a problem before. I am having a lesson in clamp meter use tomorrow. all that support for a University education is about to pay off. only about 20mA drain at most, deffo a poor RAC battery. I'll call the RAC out and see what they have to say.

  10. I have o throttle controller SP1, plugged into the diagnostic socket , it was therewhen i bought the car. I bought a mini clamp meter Uni T 210ut but i couldnt get any info from it , maybe i couldnt understand the instructions. Battery prob, will call out RAC i think, but if it is i wont have one of their batteries again.!
  11. keeps flattening. buying a current clamp meter to see if theres any current drain at rest, , thats if i can understand the instructions. jc
  12. Sorted. removed strip completley , cleaned it and the recess which it sits in , applied a thin bead of u pol Tiger seal in the gap and pushed the trim back in without sliding it around having positioned it carefully , only a small amount on the roof .... quickly wiped off. pleased with that, thanks Alex.
  13. indeed not difficult even for me , found a fuse box under there!
  14. I intend to respray the wiper arms this week. While they are off I was wondering about removing the lower windscreen scuttle trim and checking the situation , leaves, drains, security of wiper motor , etc... is this worthwhile? and if so what are the difficulties , what i mean is .. can i get it back together John C
  15. yes , i've got a multimeter but i wouldn't know where to go measuring or what readings i would be looking for.
  16. the car had been unused for about a week , certainly no more than ten days but the battery was flat. it did same thing a few months ago so i turned the interior light off in case there was a power drain. Have the RAC sold me a battery thats not up to the job? ( 2-3 yrs old)
  17. thanks just to check ...that doesn't affect the paintwork? assuming i don't smear it all over the roof. jc
  18. it keeps coming out at the passenger side , i dont think its letting rain in . but any way what to do about it? it seems to be not very flexible and i dont want to try pulling it all out without a plan of action . i should think its original although the screen was replaced before i bought it (7 or 8 yrs ago) cheers. keep well jc
  19. what is the problem ? less than a week and 10 posts ...... "still going" ......... what is the limit ?
  20. Ricochet , one please. past ones have been v good.
  21. was looking at what fitting them (the 1749 code items) might be a problem.. the bolt on the tailgate was a bit arkward to get a spanner on and nothing I had seemed to fit snugly. anyone else had this ? on the bright side I can use the delivery tube to hold the lid up, however I need to be careful with it, might need it to return them Msitpro's post is slightly concerning Msitpro...... what is the N rating on yours ? .
  22. point 3 was that their prominent delivery statement was misleading , we have to pay VAT so why quote without it if not to mislead? but the post's main point was about the suitability of the struts, which I may find out later in the week.
  23. So on cold mornings boot lid will not stay up at first. looked around , decided to buy SGS struts @ £29.70 ea. (NitroLift) phoned and spoke to aguy who asked if it had a spoiler isaid yes the std one ( I thought they all did..) so he said you need code 1751 , same price. ordered, to be despatched next day . When they arrived they were code 1749 which is for boot lid without spoiler. I contacted Customer service who said they were ok to use. I later emailed Customer service who asked for the force printed on the side of the strut --which was 470N. they confirmed this was the correct fitment. said all 350Z struts were same length, just set to different forces. I will fit them some time this week ( with slight help from son of Ricochet ), 1 has anyone come across this situation with SGS? 2 With the query to customer service they responded within 24hrs, however the the guy who took my original order got my mob no and e mail wrong , not very confidence inspiring, meaning I had to chase for an invoice. 3 and this pee''d me off tbh.. ...on the home web page at the top it says 'Free Delivery* over £50' . turns out this is ex VAT cost! so ihad to buy a £5 craft knife , no more than £1'99 in Wickes, to bring the cost up to over £50 for free delivery . grrr.. All comments welcomed , except those I don't like JC
