Have to admit I've not stayed in a lot of hotels, ...also mostly cheaper places so you usually only get basic tea/coffee making facilities but I've never come across that sort of thing before. The reception consists of a little slot that's low down so that the receptionist can't see you etc... In general the rooms are quite nice though! Seen ones in Brazil and Colombia, not Japan. I just hope they have really thorough cleaning staff, unlike the peep shows in Amsterdam which I've been told smell awful. I would expect that though considering the mentality in Japan is "the custom is god", so the cleaners would be in big trouble if they didn't clean it well.
