Quick question for those that are handy with spray paint.

I need to mask off a curved area before paint. I'm assuming that there's a more suitable tape for this (and one with a cleaner/sharper edge) than the white paper like stuff for home DIY jobs.

What is it I'm looking/asking for? From the numerous car restoration/customisation programs I seem to now watch, there appears to be a blue(?) coloured tape. Is this it and what's it called?

Any help would be appreciated (especially masking a curved profile).

Cheers, Ian

The blue stuff is the same 3M tape used by detailers, it's low tack, water resistant stuff unlike the white variant - it can be bought from places like Polished Bliss (on my phone so can't currently provide a link) and is a fair bit easier to follow a curved line than normal masking tape but still takes some concentration. However I have never used it for painting so I don't know if there's anything better for that about.

A motor factor retailer that deals with car paint sundries not Halfords, you can buy Fineline tape, for the masking. Is the thinnest mask tape use for detailed work. Its similar thickness to PTFE plumbers tape. :)
