  1. Well, I enjoyed our mk1. Very light which made it ideal for nipping around town, sure it was gutless after 50mph but then they all are (look at the similar 0-60 times), and whilst it was hardly the last word in driving dynamics the fact that we lost very little over two years made it a veritable bargain. I never found any issue with the few Aygos I drove in terms of the gearshift. It was nicely positive, for what it is. If it was me I'd be buying something lightly used, a bit larger and pref with a diesel engine for a bit of torque (Clio/Corsa/Ka), but for brand new I think the Toyota is the way to go if you want to look at residuals. Plus, as I said the new one is uber-cool and makes up for the fact you're pootling around in a tin can
  2. I'd be looking at the Aygo too in that budget: Will almost certainly hold the value better, and the new one is a bit of a looker in the orange too
  3. Ummm... It looks like a Beetle?
  4. But ultimately slower Stripes have gone now any way
  5. That's because it's ridiculously expensive and not entirely well put together in places.
  6. I couldn't put it down, seriously fun game.
  7. ..........for a reason. Exclusivity Are they deliberately limiting stock then? I didn't realise that, my bad.
  8. Well, no actually. With all the different things you can muck around with on a DSLR, it's only as good as the person using it. If you have no idea what you're doing with it (like the OP sounds like, with all due respect) then you're just going to get really poor results. A decent point and click camera will yield better results than any DSLR in the hands of someone who can compose a good shot but has no idea what f-stops, depth of field and the like mean. What he really needs isn't the flashest whizziest DSLR he can find, as any of them are miles out of budget. A solid point and click with a good lens will do the job very nicely.
  9. ^^^ As above, anything like that will do. Just get one from the big two (Nikon or Canon) and you won't go far wrong. DSLR is miles overkill for simple shot. Tbh most smartphones have decent enough cameras these days, certainly the flagship Samsung/LG/Apple ones.
  10. Sorry, wasn't saying that anyone here in particular had said that Vettel was a bad driver. He's better than Ricciardo, of that I'm sure, it's just that he's struggling to adjust his driving style to the car more than most this year. That doesn't make him worse than DR, it's just that he prefers a particular kind of setup which the rules don't allow this year. No different from any other driver on the grid in that respect. I still say that Lewis, Alonso and Vettel are the three best drivers on the grid by some margin.
  11. It will never get better, and will at some point leave you stranded.
  12. Hamilton had a dreadful season a few years back with McLaren, when he was pretty much shoving Massa off the track at every race. Sometimes it happens that you have a bad season, it doesn't necessarily suddenly make you a bad driver. I don't care how good the car is, you simply don't become a four time WDC without being really a bit special. If it was that easy, then Webber and Barrichello would have WDCs to their names too.
  13. Two things: 1. Bulletmagent was taking the p*ss. That you didn't realise that is actually a full-on facepalm moment. 2. I was being realistic, not disrespectful. What is this, Sicily?! Converting a 350Z to have four seats is a bloody stupid idea, and anyone who attempts it without massive re-engineering of the entire structure is also bloody stupid. Hope that clarifies matters.
  14. Really? They're quite stand-offish with me.
  15. That's not a fair comparison Steve. You can tell when a cyclist jumps a red light in the exact same way as you can when a driver jumps a red light. Using your comparison, you can still tell if a car is speeding using the mobile phone if you film it and then compare landmarks: That's how the CPS do it, albeit they don't usually have to rely on mobile phones. I can prove very easily that a driver is ignoring road signs telling them to stop or give way, not wearing a seat belt (easy to see at 30mph, try it!), on a mobile phone etc. It's just as simple to see the obvious things, no matter your mode of transport.
  16. Very few car crimes are subjective. DWDCA/CD/DD are the only ones I can think of. All others are objective. i.e. speeding, jumping amber lights, not wearing a seat belt etc.
  17. I bet more drivers don't speed daily than do. I don't think cyclists break the law more than drivers, it's just that they're more noticeable when they do because they're a rarer sight on the roads. Same reason people think all sports car drivers drive like hooligans.
  18. I like raspberry flavour windows
  19. I wear headphones in the MR2, but they're noise cancelling ones just so I don't go deaf! On occasion as a cyclist, I've skipped onto a path to 'skip' a red light, but only when there's no pedestrians and it's a single lane crossing due to a narrowing of the road. I'd never do it on a major road, or on a crossing.
  20. I'm still surprised that the new version isn't for sale over here. It makes no financial sense to continue selling two version of the same car. My first thought would be they're trying to shift old stock over here first, and a 16wk wait on a new silver one does go someway to confirming that. That's verging on special order lead times.
