  1. Also have a look at UnRAID, it's a bit more flexible than Synology but you need to be a bit more techy with it. That said, if I can do it anyone can! You can mix and match drive sizes, add in media servers like Plex, and there's so much other stuff out there as well.
  2. That's just silly.
  3. Welsh, no contest. England have been decimated by injuries, which is going to rob us of a decent showing sadly.
  4. I'll tell Jo you said that
  5. Cables will all be hidden, this is just a temp setup for today. Well, the TV is staying on the wall and the unit stays there, but the speakers might move a bit to improve the soundstage (they're in desperate need of a new calibration now) and that sort of thing.
  6. Lights reflecting, I know, and not my choice of programme! Honest though, it's stunning. For an LED the blacks are very black, with all processing turned off too, and it's a wonderfully smooth picture (again, no tricks). Setup was a breeze with it connecting correctly to the AVR and the interweb, and I just needed to tweak the colour and contrast down to get an acceptable picture. I'll do a full calibration tomorrow, and try and get some pics of it from other angles in daylight. TVs have definitely come on a long way, this is very impressive.
  7. I've absolutely no idea what happened in that photo, looked fine when I uploaded it to PB! Let me see if I can get another one, hang on.
  8. New house, new TV. And the camera was wonky, the TV is bang level before anyone says it It's not calibrated yet, but it's very impressive out of the box. I love it
  9. Tbh I hate Pirellis with a passion, so I'd flog the decent pair you have then get something better matching all round. MPSS, Eagle F1, hell even FK453: Any of those would work, assuming they're available in the sizes you're after.
  10. You have no idea how gutted I was when I found out I was wrong on that one, I was totally convinced I was right when having the argument with him
  11. If you're going mix tyres, be aware of the possible consequences: Have a read of the Sticky in this forum so you know what you're risking. Tiny changes in the speedo aren't the problem, it's whether the TCS has a hissy fit with the difference. Some cars are more sensitive than others!
  12. They're wrong. As a general rule, insurers who write off cars in A and B class do so because the car is pretty much a mess, and you simply wouldn't want to spend that much putting back on the road. Their own 'rules' state (as per your link) that the cars cannot be put back on the road, however as the owner of the car you can do what you want with it. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_check The wiki explains it pretty well. As long as it passes MOT and the VIC, then you're good to go. How am I so certain on this? Because I was proved wrong by a mate who bought a Cat B MX5 off Driftworks, and is driving it perfectly legally. It should never have been a Cat B in the first place, but the insurer classed it as that. When I'm wrong about something, I tend to make sure it never happens again! So yeah, you can put anything back on the road, if you can be bothered to do so.
  13. You can put any Cat car back on the road, but only C, B and A require a VIC certificate
  14. Yeah, you need to be sitting fairly close to appreciate the difference in the resolution, but no close you can see the individual pixels. Regardless, I still maintain there is no such thing as a TV that's too big for the room.
  15. I actually bothered to do the maths on this one, and the TV is under the upper limit between 1080 and 4k for the distance we'll be sitting from it, so it should be perfect. In theory...
  16. Only when it's excited!
  17. I hadn't thought about that. Much.
  18. More than I'm prepared to admit on a public forum the missus can read It was £2500, give or take a bit for delivery then cash back on the card. 4k looks ace, but the interweb infrastructure doesn't exist enough to support it, plus I'm not buying another AVR and another BD player and then another set of 4K BDs either. Plus, the Japs are going straight for 8K, and it's not like HD is even the definitive content everywhere yet.

    Ohhhh Yes...

SV? Already? Shame. 458 is due to be replaced this year, possibly at Geneva. Expect a turbo engine this time sadly
  20. It's a Samsung 6400, to replace my old 55" 7 series. Technically a step down, but I figure that tech has come on a long way in that time so should be the equivalent. Standard HD as I don't believe that 4K will be worth it in the next five years, plus have you seen the cost of 75" 4K TVs?! Hopefully I'll get it up on the wall sometime this weekend.
  21. We're men, we always round up
  22. My tiny winky is legendary. Why else do you think I bought a Porsche?!
  23. You can have the box to play in, if you like?
  24. Don't think I'll need a bigger TV for a while now.
  25. I'm going with a local firm, half the price but I've had recommendations so hopefully everything will be fine.
