    RIP 911

Wow I've like never heard that joke before

    RIP 911

991.2 Carrera and Carrera S launched (PH link) 3L turbo engines only in the production series cars from now on, with only the GT3 keeping an NA engine. I know why they've done it, and tbh in their shoes I'd probably have done the same, but this is a sad moment in motoring history. One of the finest things in life is a Porker flat-six engine, right up there with a Honda VTEC and a Ferrari V8 in terms of classic engines that define the driver as much as the car. Strap turbos to it and you may make it quicker, but do you make it better? No, I don't think you do. You lose as much as you gain. Is the new CTR faster than the old? Yup, but you know you really want to be driving the screamer engine instead. Does the 488 now compete evenly with the 650S? Yes, but that 4.5L V8 in the 458 was just about the pinnacle of high-revving NA V8s. There's not really any doubt it'll be an amazing car, and those stats are borderline bonkers (8.2secs to 100MPH with 36MPG!), but this is the first new 911 I have pretty much no interest in. And those new engine slats are ugly as hell: No other lines flow from top to bottom, they're all from side to side. Silly change for the sake of change. So RIP to the proper 911 with a gorgeous NA engine, and welcome to the era of bonkers quick base 911s. Faster, but not always better.
  3. The only two questions you need to ask yourself are these: 1. Do I have a top mounted intercooler? 2. Do I care if people think my car looks awful? If you can answer yes to the first one, then congrats, you can get a scoop! If you answer no to the first but yes to the second, then congrats, you can also get a scoop! If, however, you answer no to both, then a scoop is not for you I'm afraid.
  4. Yaris is the second most dull car on the road, behind an Auris. I couldn't ever own something with that little personality.
  5. Aygo. I would look at anything else. 500 has awful steering and is generally poorly built. Up! feels very cheap for a VAG product. KA, is decent enough car though, a good second choice. Aygo looks good, goes well, built well, handles well. What more could you want?
  6. Until 6 months in when crime has risen, the migrants don't get the nice homes and jobs they thought, public services become too crowded and tensions rise to breaking point. All looks very nice on the telly, but in the real world there's going to be issues.
  7. i believe geo = wheel alignment. when i first read that in context it made me think of geometry. someone please correct me if i'm wrong! Bingo It's like fancy wheel alignment, except instead of just getting the wheels in the green zones as per OEM, you get a car that's tailored to the way you want it to drive. You can turn a car from an understeering mess to a perfect neutral balance to an oversterring hooligan, just by fiddling with the stock camber and toe adjustments. That's how you really extract the maximum from the car, rather than worrying about the nth degree of 1-2 bhp.
  8. MPSS, quality geo, brake fluid and lines if there's enough left in the pot. Or £1000 on trackdays.
  9. Locke, 2013. Tom Hardy at possibly his finest. It's essentially a one-man film, with voices joining in on the phone. If I explained the story it would sound so mundane you'd think I was I mad for recommending it, but Hardy alone carries it off with an acute piece of every day man acting. A must-watch, if you want to see a great actor challenging himself as much as the audience.
  10. Happiness, 1998. Not a happy film, indeed it's quite disturbing, but you'll be glad you watched it. Epic piece of cinema.
  11. That's a great spec, the adaptive sports seats are incredible And with the OPC warranty, which covers all the oily bits with no arguments, that's about as safe a buy as you could get. Worth every penny IMHO,
  12. No worries fella. Assuming there's no cracking on the rear, I'd definitely be hunting for a pair of front ZZ3s. Try eBay as well for some part worms, you may find a decent pair on there with enough tread left on to take a punt.
  13. I'd definitely be replacing those, no question.

    Eibach

OEM would work a treat I dunno, Teins? They're not usually as aggressive.
  15. Man, I'm really annoyed that we never got to the bottom of this I'm going to bump this yearly, just in case he logs on ever again.
  16. Now it's lost all the random stuff, it's much better. I've opened up the game world and the crafting and things, and I can totally see how many options I've got now (lots). Yeah, I'm going to enjoy this a lot. Also, Xboners can grab Witcher 3 at 30% off right now on the XBL store, so I hooked that too for quieter times when I'm done with newer games. Although MGS V & Forza 6 & Fallout 4 isn't really going to leave me any time at all!
  17. Don't Scan and Dabs use ShittyLink for their deliveries? Pretty sure that's why I stopped using them. Any way, forget all that, go and buy MGS V now. It's amazing. Possibly the game of a generation.
  18. None of which changes the fact that the so-called modern Christianity still hates gays. If that's modern and forward thinking, then I'm out. Fine, ISIS are significantly more wrong and mental than Christians. So what? Both have abhorrent views towards parts of society that have NO place in the modern world. In that respect, Islam is as backwards and f*cked up as Christianity.
  19. So you're cool with the whole no gays thing then? 'Cos that doesn't seem very modern or factual to me.
  20. If religion disappears then all of this is moot. It's an outdated silly belief that serves zero purpose in this world, unless you want to justify killing innocents or homophobia.
  21. My point was that religion can be twisted however you see fit. What about gays, and abortion then? Pretty sure that Catholics aren't happy with the latter, and they're quite a big outfit
  22. Erm, that's exactly what ISIS are. They're a small bunch of nutters of Islam, in exactly the same way that Westboro are a small bunch of nutters in Christianity. It's all arguing over who's got the best pretend friend. Christianity is possibly more hypocritical than anything from Islam. Glass houses and all that.
