  1. Well then if he knows what you need, then ask him! Also, he may be your mate now, but if your engine goes pop and he doesn't think it's his fault, I can't see him shelling out another grand of his own money just to keep you happy. Seriously, just tell him you want a price to get your engine back to where it should be AND a price for an engine that will take 500bhp (or whatever), and then pick your option. That's the point where you can post up here and tell us what someone who has actually seen the engine says you need, and we can then either agree or disagree based on the evidence. Bloody hell Bradders, you don't half make life difficult for people that want to help you sometimes!
  2. Since we don't know what's wrong, and we don't know your budget, how can we answer? All of this can only really be answered by the guys doing the work, but can I make a suggestion? Don't source your own kit and get them to fit, just let them get everything for you and haggle the price down the best you can. Last thing you want is for something to go wrong after the engine is complete and then they turn around and say that it's not their fault, it's the parts you supplied. Pay the extra, save the peace of mind, it's just one battle to have then rather than two.
  3. I don't know what's round any corner today, that wasn't the point I was making. Driving quickly round a country bend isn't the same as being as high as a kite and driving at 90mph through a housing estate at night. One we all do without really knowing what's round the corner, one is just utter twattery of the highest order. I was actually a really slow driver in my youth, I never really felt like I had the confidence to go quickly
  4. That was pretty much exactly what I was going to post as well.
  5. Sure, we all did stupid things as kids that could've really hurt ourselves, but I would imagine that at least 99% of people I know have never done anything that could have killed so many other people with relative ease. I don't care a jot if stupid people want to do stupid things and risk their own necks, that's their lookout. It's when they can take other innocent people with them that I start giving more than a couple of owl noises.
  6. I once smoked a massive reefer, and ended up eating an entire block of cheese to myself. I'm not sure that's the same crime really.
  7. That's done the gene pool a favour, thank god no-one else was hurt. It's the families and the emergency services who attended I feel sorry for.
  8. Ah, is that what that is? I just thought the soccer yobs had bought new shirts.

    which tyres?

That's... Utterly ridiculous. Unless they're bright pink, then you want something that gives you grip and comfort and poise and control. What it looks like is utterly irrelevant, you can't even see the tread most of the time! I've heard most excuses for picking a certain tyre over another, but that's the silliest one yet. Don't be so daft, buy something within budget that keeps you on the road, not something that you think looks pretty.
  10. Is this still on? I thought it finished the other week.

    which tyres?

Not true. All it means is that Bridgestone paid Nissan the most money to have their tyres on the car, nothing else. It's like saying that a Chevvy Aveo must be an amazing car, because they're on the Man United shirt The RE040s are notoriously crap, and they were OEM fitment right up until the HR came out when Bridgestone moved to the far superior RE050As.
  12. I went off PH, picked the cheapest cars that weren't obvious sheds. £16K for a bunch of 370s, £18K for a bunch of M3s. Bearing in mind the BMW will wear the mileage better, and the ages are within a year of each other.
  13. I'm amazed they've held their value so well, tbh. Given that an E92 M3 is only a couple of grand more now and running costs will be broadly similar, that seems insane that the 370 sits where it does. Great for owners though!
  14. You need a better salesman, my guy actively encouraged me to have a play See, I found myself far more comfortable driving the 458 quickly than I did, for example, the 991 T4S. Couldn't tell you why, it's almost intangible, but the whole package just oodles feedback and I guess that gives the confidence as much as anything. I'd hope the 488 to be more of the same chassis wise as it's pretty much the same car.
  15. Normally I'd agree with you, but the 458 is so bloody good that even I felt happy slinging the back end around on roads that actually aren't that wide, and I'm far from a Lewis. Maybe you'd never get to feel just how quickly you could get round a corner in terms of ultimate pace as you don't want to be going that fast, but you can definitely feel the balance of the car and how above normal stuff it is if you're prepared to play with it. Whether you'd feel as happy flicking the 488 around as you may have to deal with a spikier throttle, I don't know. Be interesting to see how you find the Cali T, I was far more taken with it than I thought I would be. Sure, the noise isn't 458 but then the Cali wasn't 430 as it's a different market, however it did make a better noise than I expected. Certainly had more than enough shove, although the steering is still a bit numb around the centre.
  16. Something like that, yeah. What a waste of a car, people who do that should be shot.
  17. I run mine on fairy tears and squid ink.

    Oh Dear....

Styling exercise, nothing more. And a poor one at that, those quad tips are pure chav.
  19. I'll be driving my cars as normal. They've all got roofs, heaters, and weren't made in the 1930s, so I think I'll survive.
  20. One of the better drivers I've ever been out in a car with, that's for sure. Your level of car control and feel is especially impressive.
  21. That, I will never get. I can understand buying the uglier car because it drives better, but the uglier car that drives worse because it's rare? Nope, don't get it.
  22. Best thing to do with locking wheel nuts is throw them in the bin.
