  1. There will be a considerable amount more lag, trust me. Great for a straight line, not so good for the twisties. Just fit some kind of splash guard around the turbo and you'll be fine if you're that worried about it. Cats run just as hot as a turbo and there's no issue with them getting splashed, much like the rest of the exhaust system.
  2. The turbo itself will more than likely run cooler as it's further from the engine. The biggest issue with them is the horrendous amount of lag you add to the system, and having felt the difference removing just 500mm from the intake system makes on a turbo, that's not a particularly appealing thought. Each to their own though, if you want easy straight line power then go for OT, although I can't see it being much cheaper to give reliable power than a standard system.
  3. I very much doubt it, but I'll go in with an open mind. The S will have to be screwed together a lot better than the early launch car I sat in to be worth the money though.
  4. Don't panic just yet, it's not until next Saturday (19th)! I'm on in the morning so it's a 9am start I think.
  5. As much as I laugh at that, it's also probably true: There's loads of guys over on SELOC who missed out because they have the cheek to own a Lotus already, and it's the people that don't that I'm assuming they're trying to coax away.
  6. Brilliant result mate, really pleased for you Nah, it's only because nowhere else will have us!
  7. Look on the ground after it's been parked up overnight, see if you can see anything. Check all hoses and clips, rads etc. Basically just follow the coolant system around and see if you can spot anything.
  8. Anyone get the leaflet with Evo/Octane recently inviting people to apply for a free day at Silverstone on Lotus, driving both the Evora and Evora S on track along with driving the normal one on the road? I did, and I applied, and I apparently passed the qualifying questions on the phone call as I've just got a letter confirming my place next Saturday! I can't wait, should be a really good opportunity to discover just how good the Evora/S is supposed to be both on road and track, and just how it compares to the 911 which is where Lotus are aiming the S version IMHO. I'll try and get loads of pics and stuff.
  9. TS20 is probably going to rape you insurance-wise, it's right up there with jumping red lights I would imagine.
  10. Probably, most people who end up in 911s are idiots.
  11. Greekman's right, the PS3s are aimed at the lower market and don't share too many of the PS2s characteristics. That's not to say they're bad, but they wouldn't be my choice. Michelin tried to get a bit too clever with their branding on this one and confused a few people methinks.
  12. Since selling the VXR really. As fun as turbo cars are in a straight line, there's nothing like the purity of the throttle response on a nice NA engine, the Zed woke me up to that.
  13. Unless you've got money to burn I'd get one that's not car-specific, or at least one that can be transferred in the future and doesn't look daft.
  14. Bland on the outside, stylish on the inside, and they shift like buggery. Personally I wouldn't buy one as I've an anti-turbo thing going on, but I have no doubt that it'll be a better drive than the 458.
  15. Some people have had issues with their TCS systems when running 40 profile tyres in the stock sizes and as such I used to give the blanket warning that it was best not to use them as the car clearly didn't like it very much. However, I have run R888s on both road and track in 40 profile on the Zed, and I had absolutely no issues at all. As such, I personally believe that driving style is more an issue with the TCS than tyre profile, as the more I got used to the car the less the TCS ever kicked in for me and that was before I swapped to the R888s. If you're smooth on the controls and very rarely have the TCS flash up at you (unless you've been deliberately brash on the throttle) on the dash then I can't see any reason why you shouldn't run 40 profile tyres on the 350Z, assuming you keep the stagger front to rear the same.
  16. Weight is the biggest non-human factor involved here. Strip the entire interior, exchange seats for ones that don't weigh a ton, swap silly heavy exhaust for a lighter one, and get some really lightweight wheels on there too.

    Window Tints

The maximum legal tint is 30% for the door glass, and as black as you want for the rear glass and hatch. Anything darker than that is both illegal and stupid.
  18. Didn't know this, but thank god! I'm assuming then that they're promoting the T1-Sport as their new sporty tyre then, which from the tread pattern alone looks to be a much improved design. Not quite available in Zed sizes, but I'd happily run 225/40/18 and 245/40/18 on the car.
  19. Best tyre I've ever used, both on the Zed and in general. They are worth every penny, and will do more for the handling and speed of your car than any exhaust or lowering springs ever could.
  20. Mixed tyres front and back The car's come up an absolute treat though, looks immaculate in those pics
  21. I'll let it go this time, but please ensure that any photos you put up in the future have the required piece of paper on them, regardless of photographer
  22. Looks like others have been stung as well searching the interwebs. 01312 082 025 has been listed as a possible phone number for them, worth a shot?
  23. Haven't watched it for about 3 years now as they stopped doing anything that interested me. I enjoy watching the old ones on Dave, but the new entertainment-first format doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I genuinely don't miss it at all.
