  1. Actually the best way seems to be ... re-insure with Bell and then cancel the policy after a month!! They are only charging a £45 cancellation fee, and then refunding all unused money. Which is amazing considering im cancelling my bike insurance which was re-newed in september and only getting 40% back. So its working out about £110 for the month as oppose to £200-£300 on short insurance
  2. Hey guys, So im being shipped off to Oz for a year with work, with not much notice, its being a maybe for about 3 months but only got conformation yesterday and fly on the 22nd. My insurance is up on monday, so its not worth renewing. Does anyone know of any good insurance companies that offer short term insurance? So I can try and sell it within the next month? Or do I need insurance to sell the car?? I have a motorbike which I will just use for work. Or ... is it better just to put the car into storage and get it when I come back in a year?? Like I just dont want it to deprecate too much more over the next year, and with petrol prices rising will it be harder to sell?? 04 Silver GT Coupe
  3. thanks sorry for the increadble noob question but do you think that would cause the vibrating sound??
  4. agh @*!#! so its a take it to the garage job then?
  5. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4814189/IMG_4745.MOV Ok its not the best movie ever but hopefully can give you an idea! It wasnt vibrating that bad tonight, but I know if I took it as far as the traffic lights it would start to go bananas! Its just its pouring out! There was a problem with it about 2 months ago, and when I got the mechanic to look at it, the heat shield had rusted away 2 of the 4 bolts so he said that cause the car isnt used for racing or anything, he could remove it and it wouldnt affect the car. This was a nissan guy too. Does that sound right? Just incase you notice the lack of heat shield in the video
  6. ah was gonna try and do a play on the beach boys song here, but thought it would be waisted! has anyone else experienced "bad" vibrations when idling, especially when starting the engine from cold, but its increasingly becoming all the time now, like just at the traffic lights. It sounds like a vibration coming from the back box exhaust general area? As soon as I accelerate or even rev it goes away, but take the foot off the gas and it comes back. Its quite fast and loud enough to notice with the radio volume at 12. I know its probably nothing major, but its really taking the fun out of the car, and Im worried if I take it to a stealership they'll prob try and flog me a new suspension or back box? Any thoughts guys??
  7. sweet! ... I think? Is there any idea on how to re-attach it?? could it be causing the vibrations?? Its not too thin... similar to an oven tray? about maybe 2mm
  8. HMMMM!! not sure if this helps, but was felling around the back bumper and the small flap in between the two pipes is a bit loose, there is a bit of give in it like. so I was feeling underneath to see where or how I would attach it to make it more secure and I put my hand up around the back box (is that the right term) and there is a metal tray just balancing above the exhaust box?!?! Its just sitting there, I can move it any way I want?? Any ideas on where this belongs and could this be the boyo making the noise?? thanks for all the help!
  9. yep like a noob I did!! was supposed to head down to the carpark and just leave it in gear, but ran out of time packing! can I do this myself or is it a garage job?
  10. all feels tight?!! ... ?? Do you think it would be worth taking it to a garge with a ramp and shaking everything underneath to see if anything is moving there??
  11. thats what im hoping and not a leaf or spring, but how do you start looking for something that only starts to vibrate at 70?? is there anything that usually goes loose in that general area??
  12. Nope not since ive bought it!! I washed it today, and gave the alloys a clean, but the sponge is still intact so no debris in there, and I gave the wheels a shake on the moterway and they seem pretty solid and tight?
  13. Hey guys, just back from a month in Thailand and the car has been a complete headache! Firstly the battery was dead when I got back, but going by threads on here thats a common enough problem when left for a while. But now was just on way to see mates, too her to the motorway, everything was fine and when I hit above 65-70 even in 6th gear I was getting a REALLY LOUD vibrating sound coming from what seemed on the rear wheel area on passenger side. I can only discribe the sound as someone putting a ruler inside the spokes of a tyre and constant loud vibrating plastic'y sound. At first I thought it was coming from the boot, so I took my bags and jacket from the cargo net and put them in the passenger seat, pulled off the hard shoulder and as soon as I got into 5th gear it started up again. Pulled over again, checked inside and outside the car, even checked the rear numberplate to see if it was that that was vibrating ... everything solid, pulled away, kept below 60 for ages and no sound, put a bit more on the gas and it started up clear as day, like very loud! This cat and mouse game of pulling onto the hard shoulder lasted about another 20 miles before I turned home as wasnt too confident on the 110 mile journey. Any suggestions as Im going mad, everything seems solid under the car and inside the boot. Def coming from the mid rear to passanger rear side of the car, and very loud, but driving through town ... and nothing??
  14. looks great, Im having a go for the first time this weekend!
