  1. Personally thanks to all of you for making this a good forum to use and to be a member of. That is a good rate of increase, any other curious forum facts figures ?
  2. Don't pad or lie on a CV, I'm sure you have already done plenty and will do more. If you aren't sure about how to start, take a note pad and write down in notes on what you did in the last year or so remembering STAR, often helpful to go back through your diary that might remind you of those "little" extra things you've done. A good IT industry in Oz so expect you have a good chance of being successful.
  3. Welcome, Check the For Sale section on here there are a few well cared for examples. Enjoy your hunt for your Zed, plenty around nowadays so bound to be a good one that fits your requirements. Few problems with Zed compared to some other cars out there and those are well discussed on here, but any specific questions or if you have a car in mind ask away and there will be someone who knows to answer /help.
  4. Welcome, Seems way over the top even for a dealer. Apart from this hope you've been enjoying the car !
  5. Had many long haul flights flying with Qantas, a great airline with a great reputation in having never lost a life or airframe unlike the world's favourite airline. Still more frightening doing a controlled depressurised decent 20,000 feet, when parts of the plane have just left the hull, than a storm when you are on the ground IMO. Sure you have had many good Qantas flights, there is a lot of concern with their currently policy of outsourcing a lot of functions and running old craft e.g.the one with the problem was 17 years old. There is a concern that Qantas repair things now that others would not to keep that reputation. Cause of problem is unknown and speculation seems to be around 3 causes, either way crew did a great job and all were safe. You are right i first flew on this type (747-400) back in 92, they need the delayed Airbus A380 they have on order to start arriving soon to replace some of the older aircraft. I think they get the first soon. The one i know they repaired landed long at Bangkok and ended up on the golf course, they repaired the hull to maintain their no lost hull's record. Boeing need to get on and develop the 747-800........but not sure it will ever see the light of day. But at the end of the day the 400 was and still is a fantastic aircraft. Agree, possibly one of the last Tonka aircraft that Boeing built. Some fantastic quotes by Pax on the recent incident e.g. "why would they put luggage next to a hole like that ", makes you wonder btw: a few cracks found on maint not under inspection requirements have been lucky. No problem with being lucky !!!!
  6. plus a whole load of other things that people will never know about
  7. Welcome, CTR not at all a shabby vehicle, you'll find Zed different but fun as well.
  8. I agree.......KER-CHINGGGGGGGGGGGG money money money

  11. "on the job training" may be fine for learning how to do things but you are right to think about your CV. There are many companies that when they buy IT services specify the standard of training that a providers staff must have. Government work has of course an ever increasing set of requirements. I would recommend you do push to get the "pieces of paper" as well they may not tell how good you are but they will often open a door to get an interview or to get your CV considered in the future. Rarely do people make the most of what they've achieved on CVs, even a lot of the so called professional CV writing is not what it could be. When you write statements on your CV or any annual appraisal type of form you need to try and get across a few things that describe the Situation in which you did the work, the actual Task you performed, the Actions you did and what the Result was. Not always possible but keep it in mind (STAR).
  12. Welcome, Definitely worth a return trip and you should get something reasonably substantial, let them do the proposing on how to resolve it. Enjoy the car, especially on yet another sunny blue sky day as today !
  13. I hear its pretty windy on Jupiter but not been you sound very well travelled, do tell A few years ago we were removing some 70' pines and wind got up over night and one brought itself down right diagonally across a neighbours garden and shrubbery, luckily they were very good about it but his shrubs were about 12" tall after that. Hope your stay on the planet is uneventful from a weather viewpoint, at least you weren't flying Qantas recently.
  14. If this doesn't tug at your heart strings nothing will. We've all seen the faces of those ravaged by the floods in various regions of the world and now Ireland. This 'award-winning' photograph of the recent flood waters rising in Ireland captures the horror and suffering there. The heart and resiliency of the Irish people really shows through.
  15. you'll be cutting a hole out the floor and shuffling along flintstones style Now that's a mod I haven't seen done! I had that feature in an old 1275GT Mini drilled out to 1400cc, not quite enough space to get a foot through but the floor was all drilled out. Was quite a nippy little thing
  16. Inevitable that the time will be beaten, just a matter of what with what power and at what cost.
  17. Better go get some more then. It had a little need on the drivers door of a bit of attention shall we say. I think I've seen this one before but memory isn't what it was.
  18. Not heard that one before on cam chain, main concern here is too many faults for the car not to have been maintained to a high standard. e.g. if you had tyres worn unevenly would you leave it ? would you tolerate clicky axle, maybe but I doubt it. Check out some others on here a superb Sunset for sale by Ollie at a bargain price(I'm nearly tempted to buy a second with this one), a lovely Red and a few others. Those that are from longer standing members may well have more history known by the group.
  19. All fixable but not worth it for you. Move on find another, plenty around to choose from.
  20. In Frome car park today, no card to card it though.
  21. BULLFROGS & zyxm JOBS A woman went into a store to buy her husband a pet for his birthday. After looking around, she found that all the pets were very expensive. She told the clerk she wanted to buy a pet, but she didn't want to spend a fortune. 'Well,' said the clerk, 'I have a very large bullfrog. They say it's been trained to give ***wjobs!' '***w jobs!' the woman replied. 'It hasn't been proven but we've sold 30 of them this month,' he said. The woman thought it would be a great gag gift, and what if it's true...no more ***wjobs for her! She bought the frog. When she explained froggy's ability to her husband, he was extremely sceptical and laughed it off! .... The woman went to bed happy, thinking she may never need to perform this Less than riveting act again. In the middle of the night, she was awakened by the noise of pots and pans flying everywhere, making hellacious banging and crashing sounds. She ran downstairs to the kitchen, only to find her husband and the frog reading cookbooks. 'What are you two doing at this hour?' she asked. The husband replied, 'If I can teach this frog to cook.......you're gone.'
  22. Looks lovely Agree plate wait will save on depreciation hit, if you can bear the wait. Perhaps it will give you time to get that list of little alterations together
  23. Someone is going to have a little bit of fun junky
  24. Quick update and thoughts / opinions. ZE-912's replaced the std stones, always hard to tell on first impression when comparing new to older worn tyres but now having run them a few hundred miles and on a mixture of roads I'm fairly familiar with a few observations. 1) I think I feel more of the road surface than before. 2) Maybe a tiny bit more noise but not significant, more of a different tone. 3) Pretty ok on grip no surprises and on the rainy days definitely better but then comparing worn v new. Overall they are OK I would not say the best tyres I've had on a car and not in Toyo or 452 status from reading others comments (I've not got a direct comparison and other cars all have plenty of grip on the tyres).
