  1. Geepers. Is that near a lock?? No lock anywhere near, the river is a relatively small one and there is a bridge over it, which acted a bit like a dam, quite common to have a couple feet of water over the road and into car park in the winter. I should have taken a picture a few years ago when the car park had 1 car in it and you could only see the roof, very hard to identify what the car was from just a roof outline and nothing else.
  2. Flooding is indeed terrible we've had a few localised ones over the years and it takes an enormous time to recover from them. There's a pub in one of our local villages that has the typical marks and water height on the walls for different floods, the highest is about 5' above the floor.
  3. After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt.' So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office. She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too.' And then the fight started..... ************************************************************ My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table. My wife asked, 'Do you know her?' 'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.' 'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?' And then the fight started... ************************************************************ I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... he was a DWARF!!! He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!' So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?' And then the fight started... **************************************************************************** A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.' The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.' And then the fight started...
  4. Welcome, Great you are enjoying your car so much
  5. OK a few replies, without knowing your interests / age / who you are traveling with etc., here are a few suggestions: Delft is a nice place for a quick visit. Authentic Dutch 17th century city center which is sufficiently small. Don't think spyker (located in zeewolde in the middle of the Netherlands, in the "polder": the area of land recovered from the IJsselmeer) is doing any 'drop in' visits. It does organize events, but these need to be arranged and are probably rather costly. http://www.spykerevents.com/About August 16 - 24: the "grachten festival" a classical music festival in the Amsterdam canal http://www.grachtenfestival.nl Here is a calendar of events taking place: http://us.holland.com/calendar.php Could be nice to see the big dikes in Zeeland. A quite impressive feat of civil engineering http://www.deltawerken.com/English/10.html?setlanguage=en South of Limburg is quite pretty. Maastricht is the capital, and for Dutch standards quite bohemian/french city. It has some nice old Roman spa buildings ("thermen"). In the neighbourhood are some nice caves of soft limestone. Nature lovers will surely enjoy a nice walk on 'the veluwe'. http://www.develuwe.nl/
  6. We have to remember that Mark and Liam aren't as bright as us, Stew. Lol - I would hope Liam is otherwise I aint going to him when its time to remortgage Of course he is, how do you think he lined his pockets to have that Lambo ?

  10. awe Vienna couldn't find a quick way to load a sound and couldn't be bothered to load elsewhere and link, you two
  11. Share another one from history. Techie made some changes and didn't document them one evening to "improve performance", following day onlines all up except for Credit card authorisations, so ALL UK shops for about 80 high street brands had to do phone call authorisations for about 3 hours on a Friday morning, caused absolute chaos, can't recall the numbers but if you think that one of the stores was a department store that has "Blue cross" sales you might begin to get the number of tills involved. Quite a few others I've come across you might not want to know about. Amazing how reliant society is now on computer systems and the geeks you talk about.
  12. Me thinks you aren't going to do much today now !!! How many days to go or are you counting the hours ?
  13. Heard of another one on an old ICL machine (going back in time now), there were 2 commands LKF filename short for LookFile and another command KF filename meaning Kill File and guess what kept happening ! Who would design such a thing.
  14. http://www.dpreview.com/ One useful digital camera review site. There are a few screen problems with Lumix and Panasonic do not accept it if it the screen just breaks, we've had one that was in a drawer and absolutely was not touched and the screen had just cracked, seems a common problem although pics were good. Got a mixture of Canon Ixus very good / Olympus super zoom (digital SLR beginners) very very good and superb qlty pics for price and a Casio Exlim (lots of toys). Great focus depth from Olympus and at 10meg good clarity.
  15. Happy Birthday for Sunday, enjoy enjoy
