  1. Oh well, thanks all for the advice. I think I`ll break the microphone out and use a clipped version on the sun visor. That may improve matters - we will see. Still no clue as to how to dissasemble the unit so I guess its just me and the screwdriver and I hope I don't get blood on the roofing.
  2. Daily use, lots of miles, great fun, depreciating as fast as Chris'I's but so what, it is great fun to drive
  3. Well done mate, it's not exactly what you would call a 'fun' course is it I am a Project Manager and as you already know, if you don't have PRINCE2 you are pretty small beer and will miss out on all but the most junior posts for interview. Next step MSP. I`ve just done that one and it is an utter b*st*rd of an exam!
  4. Sorry, I can't see how it can be the reception. I have the problem when talking to Lady Pardon, never mind getting as far as the call itsself. Nope, the phone and aerial reception aren't the issue. No ideas for opening up the mike area that don't involve trial and error or brute force?
  5. The phone system can't hear me very well, it can't decipher what I am saying unless I shout loudly - even parked up with the engine off. It can't differentiate between phone book entries. People I can report that they can barely hear me unless I put my head right by the microphone and shout - not easy to do when driving...!
  6. I`ve mentioned this in an old post but I think it may need a new one in order to attract some attention I think my phone microphone is dicky and want to swap it out as a test. I can't see any obvious way of removing the central console in the roof and don't really want to get the screwdriver to it in an experimental and probably damaging poking session. Anyone dismatled this unit before that can give some pointers as to where to apply pressure to remove it? (where are the darn screws!) Cheers
  7. It's likely that the steering wheel is off centre because they didn't have it centered when they made the adjustments. Best to get it double checked though. Many of them are lazy grease monkeys who adjust front tracking at one rod end only. What they should do is centre the wheel and check and adjust both sides. What they actually do is put one wheel straight and adjust the opposite side to suit. Bingo, wonky and annoying steering wheel
  8. Tsk. Where do you think my shiny new exhaust came from.. I popped in for biccies, I mean badges, but ended up with the 5Zigen Back to thread, essex to sunderland is about 4.5 hours, possibly 4 if you are naughty. Its' worth it.
  9. Are you sure about the idea of a single? The sound it makes is probably quite unique but it is going to look a bit strange on the car.
  10. Hmmm.... true, but a biscuit bonus would have been a treat I like anything with a cream centre, like those gingernut ones with cream in, hint, hint, when I'm back in a few weeks time
  11. Cruise control at 55mph today on the A1. registered 46mpg finally settling on 43.2mpg over 5 miles. Before you ask it was down to 32mpg as soon as the truck got out of the way !

    White?

It's the hot colour at the mo...
  13. Yep, my recent P1 at Big Phil's was £320 including good oil and new DS2500 pads all round. A hefty saving on the prices you wre offered and more than enough to cover the petrol for a nice drive up. Phil will make sure you have a coffee and do the work whilst you wait
  14. Nothing here Well you are lucky I am down in Newcastle on sat unfortunately driving down in a c2 Dry in Newcastle today Shame about the C2, that Keilder road is great!
  15. Excellent, well done mate! Piccies please Drive down the other side of the border - it's cold but its clear and dry here today Oh, and the mpg thing is normal. Stcik the car on cruise control between 50-80 mph and reset it. You shoudl get somewhere around the 30mpg mark.
  16. Ok so the windscreen washer pipe has been replaced (wohoo ). ESR reckon that I need both hinges replacing on the drivers side - Nissan do not want to know. It's mor of the inconvenience than anything as it shouldn't be all that pricey, but I want to spend my money on shiny bits not on dropped hinges caused by some previous owner leaning on the door too hard. Phone - who knows. I think I will have to investigate this myself. Anyone know how to get to the microphone? I can't see an obvious way in and don't want to force it if there is a simple way?
  17. I *think* the ECU gets upset about the lower resistance in the the LEDs. You may need ballast resistors fitting. PS. I`ll look out for you flashing around town! Which area of Newcastle do you live in?
  18. Its an hour since you finished. If you can read this then well done mate, I`m sure you tried as hard as possible and I bet you are glad it's over! If you can't type back, try using a pencil held in your mouth..
  19. That's what I`m interested in hearing. So the higher priced fuel does actually give you a better mpg? I`ve got an empty tank so I`ll go fill up with the posh stuff now and see how I do In my 'tests' yes. My Zed went about 10% further on average and at the time the fuel was 9% more expensive. I get another ~5MPG more with Tesco 99RON over 95RON, which would be ~15% improvement so this tallies with the above Hmmm. Tesco 99 has a lot of Ethanol in it. Not my cup of tea for my Z !

  21. Yes that is me Nah, don't fancy Donny, will do the Wales meet instead...
  22. I didn't do Y pipe. I assume you get more noise with that and I didn't want to go mad for starters. I may consider a Y later but to be honest the exhaust is only there for sound and what it looks like and a Y isn't going to improve the car for me. As far as resale goes - at some distant future point - I will keep the old exhaust and strap that back on at resale point, and then sell the 5Zigen separately But hey, I`ve only had it a day so stop mentioning selling
