  1. To be fair clutches are fitted to quite a few other makes of car too. Diagnosis of a clutch fault by any professional mechanic is not hard. I suspect things have got a bit lost in translation here. Clutch replacement isn't necessarily a bad idea on an older car if you are taking it apart anyway to get to the slave, and especially if yu are keen to flog a few parts and labour options to the punter, but to then not have it fixed after all that work is plain crap workmanship.
  2. Have you taken off any heat shielding? Maybe its getting very hot and melting the underseal in places? That really whiffs.
  3. I know naff all about Porsches and to me it looks like a Porsche. Granted there may be lots of technical changes but it doesn't look 'reimagined' to me. What's different?
  4. "Suitable for vehicles with a 12 volt battery ONLY" Phew, thank goodness he said that, I was going to fit one to a LEAF to extend the range by 20% "or more!"
  5. You still use lard? Pete D'y'know, cooking with veg fat like sunflower oil is really bad for you. When you heat veg oil you get all sorts of nasty carcinogens. And I run a lot so need the calories
  6. Tesco lard is 99p but Lidl lard is 97p. Will my chips taste different? Is my frying pan going to throw a rod or crack my ring? How confusing.
  7. Yes to let Alex give you a proper diagnosis (not sure Alex actually offered to actually fix it or not) and perhaps an opinion on what did and didn't need changing. But perhaps Infiniti Glasgow might be a good place to get a second opinion if you want to have a go at Nissan for poor diagnosis and failure to fix. Implying slave cylinders with on 'rear wheel drive 350z's don't really have that issue' is just silly as any car can have this sort of problem and your symptoms do point to this. as a likely source. However, you have had a lot of other work done and whether you have paid top money for the parts and labour is another conversation. Its easy to knock dealers on this but they make no bones about pricing and for any type of car they are never cheap - nothing new there and a lesson everyone learns at some point. By my calculation you paid £1,100 for a clutch kit and the labour to fit it. This strikes me as a normal (haha!) dealer price so yes you should have expected them to correctly identify the slave rather than simply replace the clutch, but providing they eventually fit the slave at no cost as they said they would, and providing this fixes the issue then I'd say you have no complaint, other than the ridiculous delay, attitude and service. If its driveable get it to Alex first to be 100% sure where the problem is. If its not then get it back to the dealer - you have no choice. Write a letter to the manager to take with you but its the failure to fix, poor diagnosis, service and delivery back in an obviously dangerous and unfixed state that are the points to make, not the cost (other than you have paid a lot so expect decent service). Clearly its the clutch so don't be concerned about that extra price to get it back to them as the work is effectively under guarantee. Make sure you say the mechanic said he would replace the slave at no cost and he hasn't. that he said the breakdown return would be covered and that if it isn't fixed at no charge you will raise a complaint and seek to recoup the money for the unnecessary clutch change.
  8. That sounds plausible. If I were a trader I would be a bit peed off too if couldn't buy 10 packs for £65 but a MOTP could
  9. With all the fog about, a shock news announcement http://eveningharold.com/2015/11/02/dense-fog-sees-bmw-drivers-back-off-to-safe-distance-of-seven-inches/#more-213283 and a VW emissions update http://eveningharold.com/2015/11/04/epa-discover-volkswagens-fitted-with-fireplaces-and-chimneys/
  10. The first girl I ever kissed with true feeling was when we were both at school and quite young (13-ish). It only lasted a month and we never thought too much of it after that and went our separate ways for many years, in fact never really spoke (although I still thought she was hot). She died in a RTA when I was about 21. I'm early 50's now and passed by the church where she was buried recently. The grave is still there, snoopy carved into it, looking forgotten and a little overgrown and I found that quite personally moving. Its weird, sometimes we invite sadness perhaps so we can test how we feel about it. Even when we knew someone so long ago and it means nothing to our current lives, it can evoke some strong feelings. I've always wondered if its more a man thing. My wife doesn't seem bothered by old flames but I never forget them - I just prioritise her much higher.
  11. In my experience the front bearing can be almost disintegrated and still have no discernible play. This has happened to me twice which seems more that coincidence. You will need to find an open area and do some turns to load up the front wheels in turn and see if you can isolate it as a bearing.
  12. haha, oh yes sorry, they fit my inifiniti which is more like a yacht than a car Q50 or G35 ?? FX
  13. haha, oh yes sorry, they fit my inifiniti which is more like a yacht than a car
  14. I have no point. But new tyres and big tyres and expensive and all that.
  15. I posted this in another thread and didn't get any comments. That's fair enough in someone else's thread so I though these fellas deserved one of their own I repeat, look at these monsters Ok so maybe you have seen bigger but they are the biggest tyre I've ever bought for one of my cars. Next size up (22") are for hummers only!! (probably)
  16. Stubby and yes they make you go faster on account of the reduced drag.
  17. But, if there is the merest sniff of snow/ice/slush on a minor incline you may regret that choice. If you can afford them, put them on. Swap back in spring. With two sets of tyres both will last for years so in the long run its no financial loss. Mine get fitted on Thurs, but not for the Z it's true. Look at these monsters
  18. Hmm well ok but in the interests of fairness I had no complaints about the price or service from them.
  19. I know, I hang my head, sorry And Suprawookie, triple-dibs is just rude, ok?
  20. You again! That's double-dibs now. Are you stalking me? No need for a PM, you know the drill and I've still got your address
