    mods

Hi there SAFC99, here is how i see it, Modding this car depends on your budget and what you want to get out of it. (same for every car) If you are looking for bolt on mods and real BHP gains, then save your money. The only real bolt on mod that gives you any real gains is the plenum spacer. If you however, bolt on an induction kit, plenum spacer,Zorst...this would change the sound and character of the car and give you a big grin everytime you drive it. IT will not show any power gains. better performance overall?? apart from the above kit to sound better, change the brakes to PF/DBA combo discs and PF pads, change the brake/clutch lines and fluids. Get yourself an uprated suspension kit starting from £500 upwards to £1200 depending on your usage of the Zed on track etc. Ohh 1 more thing...before you spend any money on any mods...get yourself an advanced sports car driver training!!!! All of thses recommended mods will change the car completely from what you have right now....still wont show BHP gains on paper though! for that spend about £10k and go FI... now your turn....what would u like to spend money on??? bigphil@ESR and Kevin@Envy are my recommended trader on here.....but im sure that members who have dealt with other traders will recommend them to you shortly!
  2. The adjustment is a bit complicated and needs to be done in tandem on both sides....doing one side will throw the other out....you need a knowledgeable experienced place to do it...can be done yourself if you are really into maintaining your own cars mechanically....but need ramps and alignment tools etc...preferably a 2 man job if done at home!!
  3. you will feel a loss in Torque...but then i guess the added sound effects will compensate!!
  4. An induction kit, im sure you are familiar with that. Popcharger?...well that is the name of an induction kit manufactured by JWT: Jim Wolf Tech. They are an aftermarket performance parts specialist and they have named thier induction kit as a popcharger. Due to its pricing and value for money performance (noise ), it has caught on well in USA and abroad. Thus having the manufaturer designated name commonly used than the generic part name of induction kit. hope that clarifies your Question. Thanks Bobby
  5. bite the bullet Mark. here is my take on this. you have over 16 years of work experience with the same company and by your own admission is worth about £30k in redundancy payment. This is considerable amount of money by the year end. Regarding your perks being cut down:- have this been the case since the company was taken over by new management 2 years ago? if so they can always justify changing the perks in the intrest of management strategies etc... but if it is recent and exclusively to people in your own situation...then you may have a case for grievience with HR/manager. As pointed out in detail by AndySpak...keep records of all communications. Escalate it via proper channels. Keep a view to getting through the next 9 months but they should also know that you are on thier plans of constructive dismissal and if they try to push you to save £30k..you are not having it. Let me assure you. It will be a miserable 9 months....but its all about your priorities and the management knowing what your priorities are. as long as they know you wont be pushed around and they cant save the £30k, they will let off your case...maybe... bobby
  6. There's no escaping the fact that the GT pack considerably helps when selling and also improves residuals. The big question though, is how much of the £2500 cost do you actually get back when you sell? Whatever % you lose from the initial cost of the car will also apply to the £2500 Therefore if a £30k non GT maybe be worth £15k in 4 years time a GT pack car would be about £16,250. Well, thats how I would view it if I was purchasing a zed. True, but as i found when selling mine, most were not interested if you had the standard model and actually cancelled appointments when they realised it was not the GT. Hence yes you may get slightly less money for it, however to sell it is actually harder so you may find that you get considerably less that you expect. Used cars: everybody prefers the GT spec. which means it will harder to sell the non-GT spec car unless you price it significantly lower than the GT spec. £1k difference in price for a used car does not really do the non GT spec car any favours at re-sale time. there for IMO the difference in price will be more than £1k atleast in the used car market..if its not..then the GT spec alwasy gets sold.

    GT-R

looks liek we all got worked up over nothing...lol!
  8. decatting will decrease torque on the VQ35 engine. It requires a bit of back pressure to give you the torque that you are used to. Many owners have commented on the slight loss in torque during this mod. yes it does sound good decatted!

    GT-R

that info was posted on the OC this morning and Marshalls are a registered trader there!!!.. well What did I keep saying about the pricing??? there is no £25k rip off happening people! and the only option is the sat nav. Now how many imports do we need here in the UK when you have the top spec car in UK @ £55k? bobby
  10. I might sound a bit rude...but this is what i feel about the whole fiasco. proven facts...i think... 1. cyclist jumped a red light. 2. cyclist wihtout safety equipment. 2. motorist speeding. the motorist should be fined, banned or whatever for speeding. but the death wasnt her fault. The death happened cos the cyclist was irresponsible and thought he could get away with anything cos he is a cyclist and the law alwasy favours cyclists and pedestrians over motorists. in the end everybody lost. the cyclist lost his life. the motorist also lost her life...5 yr ban and prison term..ur life is over when u come out....unless u have some hell of a personality and character to get back on ur feet again. I think the law needs to be firm on all sides...the fact that the motorist was using a phone wasnt prooved.and therefore her speeding only contributed to an aggravated injury...the injury as such was caused due to a reckless cyclist. awaiting a lot of stick for this one !!!!!
  11. it had nothing to do with subs.... like mentioned by others...some coding stuff gone wrong mayb...anyway.. all back and running now! most members and users did not know the direct address to the forum....those who did had no problems...those who tried getting in via the usual web addresses had a bit of a hard time... anyway sorted now!
  12. on avg...from what I have seen so far...the Z gives about 4miles/litre...this is in london driving style!!! at £20 (about 18litres) you should get around 65 miles unless you push your right foot through the floor and touch the road. the glitch here is that you are depending on the DTE reading for your info...DTE readings are directly linked to fuel gauge and MPG calcs of the ECU. I personally dont trust the DTE reading...As that is calculated with a buffer of about 10litres in the tank at least. (you can drive another 40-75 miles atleast when the reading is -----) but in your case I dont think there is anything wrong... 30miles DTE + 65miles fuel - 30 miles = approx DTE of 20-30 miles. So nothing to worry about...IMO. Hope it works out the same way in your calculations. Bobby
  13. spend £15 on autotrader, dont change your prices from the original price that you put up a few days ago. See how many bites you get on the ad! ring up a few dealers with good reputation in the market and check out their buying prices. if you advertise £17k and they offer you £15k... I would still sell as you have discounted it to that price effectively on here. I guess it is due to the colour which is brilliant in the summer...but there has to be a buyer who wants that colour and appreciates the look of the car...unless someone comes along that way...waiting is the name of the game bro!
  14. beavis, have you been declaring your pension contirbutions on your tax return? and claiming the rebate?
  15. tesco 99 is cheaper than vpower and almost the same as 97 ron....
  16. bobby

    Brembos????

yes you are correct. you dont have to spend that kind of money at the dealers.
  17. ""It may be in the same league as those cars performance wise, and possibly running cost wise, but the concern for many is, will the extra £10,15, 20k over import prices be justified in the dealer support needed/offered?"" There will not be a £15k price difference. mayb £10k max if you really want the price differential to stand out and try hard at it. From what I know so far, service costs for 3 yrs are included in sale price, however, I can confirm and give you more info after Geneva which will be more detailed than standard Q&A sessions at the GT-R stand... ""If you hear anything about post track inspection can you please please post as soon as you get the info as that would make it impossible for me to buy a UK model. Take your point on pricing is more than just list price. My bimmer is 47k list so know things go up in price and GTR will be different to Zed, but I am half way in price terms already. Do you also know if we can get parts from the US cheaper than JPN. Given the exchange rates I think it would be cheaper that way and given the number that ship in the US, they may hold more stock items than UK dealer will."" I will share any info I get regarding the track day inspection costs. Parts prices are still too early to say as they havent come out in the open markets to compare prices. Low volume production, warranty period..they all contribute to low parts availability in the open market. It will be a yr or so before there are actual parts stockists world wide for us to compare and buy cheaper. Until then we all take what we get!!! ""And we all know Nissan's service record to date is shite! Why would a GT-R be any different? It will still be the same idiots providing the service but just reading out of a different manual and using different equipment."" I'm afraid I have to disagree on that statement. Nissan has planned High performance Centers-HPC's world wide to cater for the GT-R. Low numbers of specialist HPC's to take care of the electronics, 3-type paint job and the high tech running gear on the GT-R and specialist sales training as well. I will agree to your inference that nissan have been shite so far in customer service and the possibility of them screwing up again is very high....but I would like to think that they have so much reputation at stake to screw up the plans for the GT-R. especially with low volume initial sales. Guess you will have to get a uk GT-R and get it looked after at nissan HPC to confirm your experience with them, as none of us can possibly confirm if nissan is still going to **** it all up at this crucial stage of business with the GT-R!
  18. Jap cars dont have servicing included. everybody talks about the GT-R like its a micra on steroids. It isnt. It is a car comparable to Porsche, lambo, fezza etc. The servicing and parts of these cars will also be in the same league. Nissan has made a car worthy to be in that league of cars. Prices may be cheaper to buy...but dont be fooled friends...it aint going to be cheap to run! Yes..you can get parts outside the dealership, use non dealer places to work on the car..pretty much do everything we all do now to cut costs...but how far long down the years would that be possible for every GT-R buyer to do easily?? I have been talking to some people i know in the US dealer lists..indications this early are that part prices are in the supercar league. So unless you are running a lambo/fezza/porker now...dont even think of running a GT-R as an upgrade from the Z..lol.. Regarding track inspections...nothing is confirmed yet..so we are all still wondering what it will be.
  19. I find it very intresting that everyone on here is concerned about the 40k price in japan? the porsche there is approx 80k!!! I had given a comparative price between the 2 cars in JDM, USDM and UK markets. the japanese car in japan is obviously going to be cheaper than an import car in japan. And if nissan is trying to beat every other sports car manufacturer currently selling in japan, I dont think that the 40k price in japan is something to base opinions on. on a 40 k car shipped out to uk 1k shipping and insurance (minimum) 41k +10% duties 45.1k +17.5% VAT 52.3k before SVA, model report generation, registration or anything else. Even at JDM prices the car will be approx 54k on UK shores...im sorry but I just dont get it when everyone talks about a 40k JDM price and equates it to our market here... If nissan sells a EU car with full serviceing and warranty for 3 yrs @60-65k here....im not complaining for less than 10k. Like i said earlier..different story altogether in 2 yrs when you get used cars shipped out from JDM for £20k but even then we are all here talking about getting the car now, brand new...
  20. the spec-V isnt going to come anytime soon....the 2 trims are gt-r and gt-r premium i think...which will cost approx 2-4k higher than the base price. The likely pricing should be around 60k. The geneva show is when the GT-R is launched in EU. and prices in all markets along with nissan HPC lists for EU will be announced as well.
  21. from what ben has said.. i think it is about 55k the total cost was on the road. and the uk prices will be anounced at geneva in 2 weeks time...so we can all put a rest to the debate on that one!!!!
  22. the new vxr- 400bhp+,v8,4doors brand new for 35k. 25k should buy a nice one in 2 years and you can experience muscle car smile.....i would buy the stang but then thats LHD?
  23. my deepest condolences to you and your immediate family suffering this loss. Stay strong and support your family at this time..this incident is part of life and it is something you have to face today or tomorrow... so chin up mate.. Once again my condolences to you. Bobby
  24. http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11976 Lol! Guess your refering to www.350z-uk.com guess I am not under any opinion which one is better or worse, I agree Mark...Likewise for me too...and I know that there are more members who do the same..... nice to see the ldifferent levels of enthusiasm in all matters Z!!!! But ill tell you one thing...Ian can give you some serious advise on your lens choices and usage...and if you are not happy with Satsuma's advise..im sure he will refer you to other people that are more well informed. Bobby
  25. I think that is the problem. normal aspect ratio's are 18inch 45 height. since you have gone 19inch...it is best you use 35 height. however the problem here is not that...the problem is that you are using different aspect ratio's for front and back!!! 40 in front and 35 at the rear both on 19inch rims....at any given speed, the wheels in front and rear will rotate at different speeds to each other...that will throw off the TC no doubt. I suggest you test drive a matching 40 or 35 tyre to keep the height equal and see if the TC goes off again.... I am pretty confident that is the problem. Thanks Bobby
