take the car allownace on this one !!!!! for an 18 month lease you would be spot on for a new Z in 2010.
  5. use 99Ron from tesco. sound and engine performance seems smoother and better. cheaper than Shell v power(98 RON). I regularly get between 240-280 in london stop and go traffic. I have managed 32mpg on a motorway run once. bobby
  6. it was designed to look like the retro challenger...and for that design idea..it looks spot on!!!! the challenger as a muscle car wasnt everyones cup of tea anyway..its a niche market....but in usa..even niche is a lot of cars!!

    GT-R

My apologies if i came across sounding like a dealer!!! I am not one..I manage a business and I am fairly decently clued up on my economics of limited knowledge and experience!!!! Whatever I have said on here is my interpretation of real world market behaviour and nothing more. Coming back to the topic here of potential GT-R owners being unhappy with nissan pricing.. all the details you have quoted above make sense...but you are in a privileged position with engineering professionals at disposal for maintainance..what about majority of GT-R owners who aspire to import one?? Legal aspects: you can import parts, but if nissan stops traders in Japan buying a new car and exporting them out of japan..then you will have a problem on mass imports here..volumes will be low...unless the first batch of cars come into auctions in a years time...you wont have many numbers to export out of japan...I hope you get what im trying to explain here.. Pricing: Like the US market..if more of us are going to chase an import model here...prices will go up for the very limited cars that are on sale now!!! for the first 1-2 years tilll volumes come up on the imports..the demand vs supply of the car will push up prices....at that point in time the Uk pricing of the car will not be too expensive when you work out the price, service, warranty costs as compared to owning an import!!! (apparently they are providing 3 years free service and warranty for £65k)...work out the math in detail people...figure in the traders cream on top of the pie...serviceing and parts shipping costs....I agree there will be an advantage in total cost over a few years..but not worth the hassle IMHO...atleast not worth for a person who is spening 45-65k on a car!!! I guess that my statements will not hold good in 1 yrs time when more people actually take a risk of importing it and putting up thier experiences of owning it in the UK!!! But until then...it seems too much hassle for too little monetary gain and much more unanswered variables in the equation of ownership experience. However, for the adventurous...I will be waiting to hear more on your experiences on the import scene for the GT-R!!! Good luck to all that decide to wait..and all that decide to take a leap of faith now. Bobby

nissan plans high tech, highly trained, sweet smiling and apparently high IQ staff in bling bling dealerships for the GT-R. 35-40k for a GT-r sold by nissan in uk is a loss...guaranteed... and...i dont think Gt-r's have been selling in volumes here at £45k to say that there is a 15-20k difference in import vs uk spec car...correct me if im wrong on this. but i saw a white one somewhere for a feb08 delivery and that was advertised at £55k.....ther is a potential, assumption, probability that imports will save you, if you are lucky..£10k ish.... plus with all the restrictions on ECU's and even legal threats from nissan against high volume imports by single entities (personal or corporate) will make imports a tough call... no parts, no service, no warranty. they will not even attend to a non uk spec GT-r next year even if you offer to pay through the nose!!! i agree a race engineer somewhere or top tuners in uk can work on it once they get a piece and play with it...but how accessible are they to all potential GT-R owners if they decide to import? I agree...its worth a risk to save some cash...but peace of mind until you sell it on??? for 10-15k on a 60-65k car??? I doubt that very much indeed. bobby

$75k is £40k cos of exchange rates....that has nothing to do with the actual cost of landing the vehicle on UK forecourts. a mc meal costs approx $5 there and approx £5 here...almost the same...minimum wage there is approx $6..i think?? £6 approx here as well... I dont think its correct to look at exchange rates and feel that the pricing is unfair on us here. If however we feel that we should get the car at other market prices...then nissan is not the only corporation to be blamed and it should extend to all industries...I guess there is no point talking about it..we are talking about a complete overhaul in consumer good pricing...no chance in hell my friend!!! JDM pricing does not attract customs and other taxes that foriegn markets attract... and apart from that if nissan wants to under cut all competition in JDM and bag sales from other performance marques..then low pricing is the way to go... C2s in JDM costs 13.5 million JPY GTR is 8.5 million JPY (edit: C2s is an import model in JDM and the pricing is different there depending on local taxation rates and there fore the huge difference) The delay in cars reaching us....good question.. as i have stated before..I feel personally that Nissan looks at EU volumes as 3rd after JDM USDM. GT-r 2009 model is for sale in USA only after the summer and we get it 6 months later. USDM do not have a 2008 model for sale...americans always sell next year models 6 months early...dont ask me why..thats americans for you!!!..

I dont blame nissan on the pricing... I agree with the previous post by mugwump its a product that nissan is using to upgrade its brand image globally. apart from that..the statement of ripping off brit consumers in teh pricing is not true! USDM porsche c2S $83800 GT-R $75000 JDM porsche c2S £65000 GT-R £40250 UK porsche c2s £68750 GT-R £65000 (expected pricing) The information is taken from regional websites for both manufacturers..It clearly shows that Nissan is competeing with manufacturers in the same league with almost the same prices....I personally dont think nissan is ripping off brit consumers. and before any of you comment on the above..I dont work for nissan neither am I a shareholder in any nissan company!!! bobby

I guess maybe they think that the sales volume for EU in terms of a japanese sports car around the base 911 pricing is negligible compared to USA and JDM volumes???? As a manufacturer looking to build completely new infrastructure for the launch of a particular car....economic sense prevails on the side of higher volume markets I suppose?? I mean ..how many £60k jap sports cars would sell in EU compared to £35k jap sports cars in JDM an USDM???? the same rules wont apply to mass market lower priced cars though...as the volumes are high in all markets...it only makes sense from a cost point of view on the GTR and the likes... JUst my interpretation of what nissan might be thinking..thats all bobby
  13. Nice one....perfect view of today's political correctness bullcrap!!!
  14. i dont have a my07 car..so i cant comment on the holder lights...but from all the rest of the lighting assemblies in the Z.. i would guess that those interior lights can only be accessed from behind the door panel/trim. my rough guess would be...remove door card and sort it out from behind the card then fit back..be careful with the clips though...!! bobby

UK cars are delayed for suspension revisions, dealer finalisation, and service center process and set ups. they plan to launch with 3 yr free servicing included in the price!!! now that will need good back up which is currently in the planning stages...no point selling a car if they cant service it yet in the uk!!! so i guess it will take a year for them to sort out the back end mess before they sell the car.. bobby
  16. the camaro's are testing at the ring as we speak!!! still due for sale in US for 09. probable uk launch as a LHD version. and I definitely would get a camaro post z.. the character and feeling of american muscle is something to be experienced IMO.
  17. dude....take her out the night before you fly out...and make it a special valentines night in advance...that way you can let the news out the next day and do a runner...still have a place to come back to...you score brownie points for bein sensitive...and best of all..you still get the lonely stewardess on valentines day!!!
  18. Compared to standard Bridgies????? get those toyos or anything else for that matter... Bridgestone are more durable..yes...decent in the dry...yes.. everything else (ride comfort, performance level in comparison to other brands, price/performance etc) not too good IMO Bobby
  19. dont be surprised if people start running away from you!!! its only cos we dont want to share in the presents that the girls would shower you with....its all urs matey!!!! he he
  20. well the £120k ferrari costs roughly $120k in usa....in today's value..its half price!!!! but yes asian countries..most of them have a strong duty structure to discourage imports and allow domestic manufacturing sectors to gain market share. its all part of those developing economies trying to gain good foundations before being competitive with foriegn established companies. I remember the same was followed in India about 10 yrs ago....its only been about 10 years since they opened up the market for foriegn companies..(if they invest and produce locally)....and a car there costs roughly the same as in UK. and the quality of products from indian manufacturers have gone up considerably to be competitive to foriegn companies..... the crazy prices in some countries are nothing to be afraid of...thats just the way it is my friends... try the middle-east for cheap cars..lol but then it will be LHD.
  21. want noise? shift down to 2nd and bury the throttle into the carpet...oh..dont forget to roll down your windows..
  22. They got kicked off here for not offering us the same discount as the OC ahhh ok...didnt know abt that...my bad...!!!
  23. try these people....high reputation and experience in cars...lot of people i know have actually been stunned by what they discovered about the standard Z.... these guys know what this car can do and they will teach you exactly how to drive your Z for maximum pleasure, safety and control. try em out. http://www.catdrivertraining.co.uk/ thanks bobby
  24. its a completely different car from the normal Z. its a bargain at the price that he is willing to sell at and very very rare....the only fault of that car if at all it is a fault...is that the rear bumper is not of generally acceptable styling.... Ohh and I think its an auto as well....but then that just makes it more easier to live with in the city on the commuting circuit. wish I had the cash....it is a beast and who ever buys it is goin to be grinning for long time!!!
