Same engine as the MR2 Turbo - 3SGTE. I have a 3SGTE retro-fitted into my 1988 Mk1 MR2. Mine is actually a Celica GT4 (ST185) engine but runs an MR2 Turbo LSD gearbox. Strong words. Check your documents, if a policy is set up for automatic renewal then it will be stated in the paperwork. Also, it sounds like it may be lucky they did renew the policy as the car would have had no insurance cover in place for the last few days, not good if you have been on the public road or if you car was damaged/stolen in this period. Feel free to check back when you are up for renewal. We've had issues in the past with younger drivers with no RWD experience having high value claims, specifically on 350Z's but after a year claim free of having the Zed, we should be competitive.

The insurer you are with cater for mods but do struggle with some. They are set up predominantly set up for standard UK car insurance so it is understandable that their call centre staff may not recognise some modifications.
