  1. I can confirm they are painted and lacquered. I bought them off Zmanalex for £800 and I've just sat on them for a few months. If I sell them I'll probably put them on Ebay and accept market price. The wheels were from Big Phil apparently but I know no more. The colour in the pictures is not quite right as I took the pictures on my compact camera. My dog is black too - so I'm not quite sure what happened there. I expect I over exposed the shots somewhat. I'll do some more accurate shots for ebay if I list them. Cheers, Damien.
  2. They are definitely silver grey but not as metallicy shiny as I would want on my grey car. They would suit an Azure or dark car. £160 to paint them any high tech colour you like was my quote. By high tech he means multi layer black chrome etc. I'm not sure what colour to go for. I might stick with my Rays and sell the GT4s or splash out and buy a set of Racing Hart 521s in 19" with the black bits. If I go down the Racing Hart route I'll sell the GT4s and keep my Rays for the winter. I'm running 20mm spacers on the Rays and they look fantastic with that offset. Damien.

    UK GT Z

    I've had an import 350z and now a UK 350z. The differences are negligible. Not worth more than £500 on a 50k mile car. You can get what you are after for £10k or an import for £9.5k - your choice. Pistonheads is the place to look and drive a hard bargain because they are there to be had. I bought my UK 08 roadster with 3k miles on the clock from a Nissan main dealer for £18K so £10k should easily be enough for a great UK GT car with 40K miles on the clock. The Pop chargers for sound ( better value than exhaust and makes a nicer sound without a lot of dB's.
  6. It may well have been machine polished because it had a card from a pro detailer / valeter on the passenger seat when I got it from the dealer. It felt amazing like it had been clayed etc. I must try to get my flecks to pop this weekend
  7. Mine's an 08 also with no remote. It has a joystick in front of the screen. The start up screen asking me to agree to some legal stuff every single time I start the car really winds me up.

  9. My car is only 6 months old and there is no sign of swirl at all, it looks really shiny. At the moment is has got 2 coats of P21s (one week apart) and a coat of this: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/ ... d_339.html I wait with interest to see how the Dodo Juice Supernatural looks on a GM car. I find it is a law of diminishing returns with the lighter colour. Kuru, Ebisu and Azure really reward their owners with a brilliant finish once waxed. On the good side, my car looks reasonably clean for longer than my Azure did. Damien.

  11. I've found that with GM or Twilight Grey as it's now called a shine is a shine. I originally used Autoglym SRP followed by EGP and it looked fabulous. I have also used a tin of Colinite concours wax but that's a sod to use. I have P21s but It does not improve on the Autoglym combo and I have a bottle of Chemical Guys wet look gunk that smells like bananas and looks green. The truth is that my Azure 350z looked a whole lot better for the wax products than my grey z as you could really build up a depth to the shine. The lighter cars are harder to improve with more layers. I always do one side first at each stage so I can see the before and after and with my grey car I'm often left wondering if there is a difference. The rewards seem less with a lighter car Oh and the Chemical Guys wet dream finish lasted about a week and now water doesn't bead at all. So tomorrow I'm back to P21s (soft wax) and a layer of EGP to seal the shine. EGP lasts for about a month:) I hope this helps.
  12. Hi Bosh, Welcome to the forum. I'm only down the road in Nailsea. I had a 2002 JDM for 3 years and it was fantastic. The squeaky brakes can be sorted with some anti squeal grease on the backs of the pads between the pads and caliper cylinders. This may be a short term solution as I had the same problem when I fitted EBC pads to my JDM. I eventually had some anti squeal shims supplied by EBC for free and my local garage fitted them for £10 a corner. Cheers Damien.
  13. I have bought a Sony tape converter for my 08 roadster and it sounds fantastic - way better than my Belkin FM transmitter or my mates iTrip. I couldn't believe the difference. I've had crappy tape converters before but the Sony one is really impressive. I bought mine from Amazon.
  14. I'm afraid I did not take pictures while I was driving and I was on my own without a spectator. The adrenalin rush of this kind of driving is fantastic.

  16. I have a set of refurbished GT4 wheels for sale. I bought them from a trader on here and they were originally big Phills stock. I was going to fit them to my 02 Azure GT but I have now got a Twilight grey roadster and I want to fit Racing Harts. If you would like these rims please PM me with an offer. I can courier them to anywhere in the UK. They are not perfect like new but they are great for everyday use. PS: The dog is not included
  17. Here is a bit of a write up on my ACF rally driving experience today at Fountain Forrest near Bristol. The day started at 08.30 with a welcome coffee followed by a briefing. We then went down to the lower circuit to have our first 1:1 sessions driving a rear wheel drive Mk2 Escort and a front wheel drive Peugeot 205. Both cars were full rally spec and set up well. After 5 laps in each car with expert tuition we drove another 5 laps solo in the car of our choice. I chose the Escort. It had a very light flywheel and was cammed for max power at high revs and was quite a handful:) There was plenty of sideways action and it felt like a drifting session on a bumpy surface. It was easy to get airborne and great fun. We then went up to the forrest section and were introduced to the Sierra Cosworth with it's big turbo. The rocky surface was far less forgiving and the circuit was exciting and narrow in places. Big rocks, trees, jumps and water ditches made up the terrain. We drove both the Sierra and the Peugeot on the forrest stage accompanied by the resident experts who gave us pace notes and advice throughout the session. The last session of the day was a passenger drive in the full WRC race spec Subaru Impreza turbo. I felt really pleased with my performance today and I really got into a rhythm with the rear wheel drive cars. The Cosworth Sierra felt a bit like my 350Z - 320 bhp rear wheel drive etc. It was louder, a bit more angry but didn't have a radio. A drifting day is going to be my next investment

    How much are the Racing Hearts? Surely one of the traders must know. Can we arrange a group buy? I recon that they are the best looking Z wheel by far.
  19. P21s is what I used on my Azure but I found the Autoglym SRP followed by the Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection lasted way longer and had a deeper shine. The trade off is the EGP leaves a white dust on your cloths at the removal stage that can static back onto the paintwork and the EGP needs to be on the car for a couple of hours to 'set' before buffing to perfection. I even recon the Autoglym products give a superior finish to that of the Chemical Guys Wet Dream (WET MIRROR FINISH ULTRA SLICK NON-STICK GLOSS MAGNIFIER) That's what they call it! I used some of this stuff on my new Z and it's okay but not deserving of their hype. I tried Collinite too and found it a bugger to use. I have a whole tin sat in the shed virtually untouched.
  20. My 08 350z with 3800 miles on the clock has the same release bearing / input shaft baring rumble in neutral with the clutch up. I've been told it's a Z thing
