1. Okay here are some pictures seeing as you asked. When I get a chance to clean her up a bit I'll do a real set for you. This is the car that will be at the meet on 28th June with me (trying to keep this thread on topic). I've noticed a few differences between this car and my old one (apart from the roof and the colour that is) 1. It sounds nicer, more throaty and better exhaust note. 2. Softer suspension, less go-kart like. 3. It seems quicker, even though it is heavier. Obviously there are a few more BHP but there are less torques aren't there? 2. Welcome to a friendly place. You have a great Z in one of the best ever colours The smiles never fade from here on in with 350Z ownership.
3. Thanks for that, I'd got through over 100 posts and I still didn't know the time of the meet and I'm still not sure. I'm going into Bristol for 10am to drop off my daughter and then I'm free. I need to be back in Bristol by 3pm to pick her up so I'm sure somewhere in there I can have some fun with you guys. My car arrives tomorrow while I'm out on a photo shoot So my wife will sign for it and then she'll go out for a blast no doubt.
4. I'm struggling to get to grips with this thread. It's very drawn out with 130+ posts and it's hard to find exactly what is happening at what time on what day. Is it possible to cut down the 10 pages of banter to just one post with the list of who is coming and when? Or perhaps start a new thread with an invitation to a specific meet up? I am keen to meet you guys and bring my new 350z roadster and I'll gladly put my name on a list if I could find out how.
5. I love the wheels. So much so I have bought a set for my Twilight roadster. I want to change the colour to the same as yours before I add tyres and fit them to the Z. Can anybody tell me what the colour is? A paint code number or a name. I like the slightly chrome, bright gunmetal look. It's fab. Thanks in advance.
6. I'll come too in my roadster - very excited - I hope the sun is out.

pics of my z

Beautiful! I think a Z like this in it's standard guise looks fantastic. Just as the designer created. Yours is truly fabulous. As you can guess I'm not one for bolt on plastic bits. The Z is perfect straight from the factory. Enjoy it!
8. I replaced my crappy Bose units in my 02 JDM with 4 Infinity Kappas, front and rear. The difference was astounding. I kept the Bose amps and the original wiring but put an Alpine head unit in so I could use my iPod in the cubby. I kept the Bose sub as it is fine. I used two PAC boxes, 1 as an interface between the Alpine and the Bose amps and the other to enable my steering wheel controls to operate the Alpine and iPod. The sound was sweet and not at all tiring to listen too. I hope this helps. Damien.
9. For me it came down to money in the end. I was not prepared to pay £3k over the odds for a Night Blue car. I spoke to the sales director of the Nissan dealership and offered cash there and then if he price matched Evans Halshaw and he wasn't even prepared to budge £500. I expect they may have paid too much for the car and are hanging on to a dream rather than cut their losses. Or maybe my dealer made a boo boo on the sale price. I'm quite liking the look of the Twiglet (twilight) Grey after all. It will be easier to keep clean with no swirl marks etc. After setting this controversial post on it's way I have read the banter with interest and from what I can make out the most obvious answer to the question has yet to be raised. If the proportion of buyers that select each of the car colours when new is the same as the proportion of buyers selecting similar colours on the second hand market then everything should be fine. For example, if 8% of new cars are ordered in the Chili Pepper colour, then 8% of the second hand market buyers should be looking for the same colour and 8% of the supply should be Chili also. That argument assumes that the supply level is regular for all colours. If for instance owning a grey car upsets more owners and forces them to sell their car early we may see a pulse of low mileage grey cars on the market at the same time outstripping demand. This in turn will force the price down and I get lucky:) Damien.
10. I just sold an Azure 02 JDM with 65000 miles on the clock for £8450. It had 1 month MOT but was a good car in good condition. Expect a UK car to be at least 1K more. My car was as old as they get as it was first registered on the launch day in Japan. Another JDM sold for £7995 on Pistonheads the week before last. Loads of early cars are coming in from Japan at 9.5K at the moment with relatively low mileage. You'll get lucky I'm sure.
11. I'll do some pictures next weekend and post them up. I'll do my best to get to events this summer. The Wales run is my kind of event however I'm photographing a wedding in Cornwall that weekend:( I've taken my Z to Japfest before and I'm always up for impromptu get-togethers if the diary allows. I now face the longest wait of my life. Damien.
12. I bought Twilight grey in the end. The offer was too good to miss. I got the roadster I wanted in a non swirl showing colour I assure you I didn't rush it. I advertised my coupe on Friday sold it on Saturday and bought my roadster on Monday to be delivered on Friday. I'm worn out now so it must be time for a beer:) Damien. I'm very very very excited.
13. If my heart could choose a colour it would be yellow in GT4 spec. But I'd get a few glaring looks and draw a bit too much attention for my liking.
14. They all look wonderful when the sun has just gone down and we are in twilight. It's the best time of the day for car photography. If you get the angle right and choose the right perspective too the car looks like a Porsche beater.
15. So that's okay then because we all feel our colour is the best All I've got to do now is get to love twilight grey (twiglet grey) and I'll be fine. No worries on resale value then. I have a 2007 brochure that features Temper Orange throughout and on the cover. When I downloaded the current brochure from the Nissan site yesterday, the Temper Orange had been replaced with White. The graphics guys had modified the original shots rather than do a re shoot. I thought that's a bit tight. Cheers, Damien.
16. Okay here's a controversial one. I have just bought an immaculate 350Z roadster GT pack UK car with 1 previous owner (Nissan staff director). The car has Sat nav, black leather seats and a black hood. It is Twiglet Grey! The grey car that I have bought is a full £3,000 cheaper than the equivalent Night Blue car offered by another Nissan main dealer and £1500 cheaper than yet another dealer offering a Night Blue without Sat nav. Can the colour really affect the value like this or is it just a case of inconsistent pricing and luck. My first choice of colour would be Night blue and I'd be prepared to spend an extra £500 for it. My second and third choices would have been black or white and I'd pay an extra £200 for either of them. I couldn't resist a discount of £3k to settle for a grey model. It will give me a few funds for lowering springs, summer tyres (Pilot Sports or Falkens) for my new set of GT4 wheels bought on this forum a few months ago. So the question is how much extra would you pay for the colour of your choice?
17. The DVD drive is screwed in from behind. You will need to remove the plastic cover to remove the carriage. You can then replace the DVD unit with another cubby like the one that is behind the passenger seat.
18. I saw that one but I think it is £4k over on the price. The one below is an identical spec but its younger and grey. Unless grey cars are less popular it makes the Bournmouth car way over price. I know I'll need to haggle but £4k is a lot to have to beat them down by, isn't it? http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... 3331123554
19. Red is not an option for me. Night blue is first choice, white is second choice and a silver Merc SL500 is my third choice if I can't get the right Z by next weekend as I need a car. It's a catch 22. With a JDM you have to sell privately so there is no option to look around and part exchange. That has made me car less or should that be careless. I expect today is like Christmas day and that it is a non trading day. So I'll ring round tomorrow.
20. The £20k Night blue at JS Holmes has gone Beadles Nissan in Maidstone are not answering their phone. Obviously no credit crunch there and neither is Evans Halshaw. Cash is waiting but I can't fine someone to sell me a car. I guess I'll have to become less impatient. Thanks for the info on the sat nav. Cheers, Damien
21. I've ruled out the Aston, I'm not old enough for one of those yet. A Zed is way cooler and it is far less likely to break down. My dilemma is the 20K blue roadster from JSHolmes: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... 9329595868 It has more miles on the clock and no sat nav and is the same price as this one from Baileys Nissan: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... 3331369809 I want to get the blue one but I think it is way over priced. How much more was the sat nav when the car was new? I'm not a great barterer but do you think £18.5k in cash is the right sort of target? Any help is appreciated. I'm not out to rip anyone off I just want to get the car for the right price. I need to use my head and not my heart.
22. Z sold! It took 1 hour on Pistonheads to get a catch and within 24 hours my car has gone and I have a pile of cash. I have to wait for the dealers to open in the morning now. V excited! I have 2 Zeds on my radar at the moment. And then I started thinking... I can get an Aston DB7 or a Mercedes SL500 But I've come back down to earth for now.
23. Yep for a posh ad with multiple pics it's £9 for 1 month. It's my first time so I think it is a bargain when compared with Auto trader.
24. Well, I put my 350Z on Pistonheads and I already have a buyer coming from Yorkshire tomorrow. So a sale within 24 hours is a result. £9 well spent. I will then have the funds to secure the 20k Z in Maidstone - V excited! Damien.
25. Pictures of my head unit are here: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/986134.htm You may find it useful. Good luck looking for your perfect Z.
