  1. so my suspicions that they might snap is a fair one. Hmm Can't see me getting time to get this sorted before a week on friday.
  2. Sorry - meant the Y section. The problem is I don't think there bolts on the y section as they are built in as studs so if you snap them off then you have to start drilling out some holes and finding some bolts which is not the easiest to be doing unless you have proper ramps etc
  3. Around a couple years or so ago I had to replace my backbox as the flange on it was gone so I managed to get a 2nd hand back box and center section. At the time we did not fit the center section as we could not get the bolts to budge between the center section & manifold. Now my flange on the center section is half rotten and letting gas out so I really need to get it sorted. I am tentative about replacing it myself fearing that i might snap the studs off the manifold which obviously would not be good. My 350 is a 04 plate so the exhaust has been on there 6 years now. Has anyone done a DIY replacement of this on a 6 yr old car or should I pass it onto Nissan/local dealer so they can screw it up?
  4. Personally I would change the lights for some closer to normal ones. I just don't think the matt black lights suit the rest of the car. As for the roof go with real carbon, wrapping is just way too easy and common place now. Its the modern era M3 mirrors.
  5. In the end I happened to be in...Asda and they had some oil that was fairly good 5W30 stuff and also had the special LongLife requirements that the Mini needs for £32 for 5L which is actually very good.
  6. Yup but I don't think thier delivery is good enough to get to me for tommorow morning.
  7. It looks out but it may not look at bad in the flesh. A camera will often make the colour difference look worse than it is, specially if there is lighting around it. It may be worth taking a look in the flesh
  8. Don't have an account and last time I was there they would not give me one. Got a Mackro but by the time I have driven there it will negate any savings as halfords is 1 minutes away rather than hour round trip.
  9. I need to get some oil to service my girlfriends mini so thought. Hmm lets just check Halfords to see - Thier oil ~ £42, Catrol Edge £45. I then thought well I will pop over to the Camberly Auto Factors to see what they can do...they have 1 oil make and its £50! Had not heard of the make myself, maybe it was a really good brand but I don't need a really good brand. Tried one of the other local ones and they were £47. Its just wrong that Halfords is the best place to get it. I would order off the internet but need to get it done tommorow really. Rant over. Edit: Well even Opie oils would be more than halfords so looks like they win!
  10. You'll probably find the only reason its working is because the aerial is plugged in. Pull it out and you might find the head unit no longer works
  11. Agree 100% H5 - My agree to disagree with regarding Dblocks in that I think there is a place for flashing in the audio world.
  12. 3rd or what ever on the not worry about rear speakers. Save your money on the rear speakers, spending it on better equiptment for the fronts, amp and sub and you'll not even notice they are not there. I always like to say how often do you go to a concert and have speakers from the back pointing at you! now thing of the size of the cabin in a 350
  13. Lets agree to disagree then. I am fully aware of Talk Audio and have been on there for too many years. I have seem many a big high DB install use flashing. As I said its all about for the right job. As you said its messy and it would be suicidal to use it on door skins (unless you want some black windows on a hot day) but there are certainly some applications for the stuff. (And yes I have done a direct comparison)
  14. There is also the ICT version which now does not need any cutting - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/ict/p~50-256.html?cat=0
  15. No thats a myth its crap and messy. I would say its far from a myth. For certain application it can do the job very well for a very little outlay. You may often need a few layers of it to get the same effect as Dynamat but in the right setup it can be the right stuff to go with.
  16. I didn't buy the 'wrong' one. I bought the pucka iPhone cradle with a pass-through connector in which is designed for the iPhone. At the time there was no hint that Apple were going to release a redesigned phone that HAD to have a case (specially as the last two iphones have been fine without a case) AFAIK there is no iPhone adjustable pass-through bracket other than just the generic mobile one which does not look as nice. The one you have is not suitable for me as it mean plugging the connector in every time which I know I would not be bother doing.
  17. I've got a brodit but did not go for the 350z bracket as its far from cheap. The passthrough cradle I wanted was £35 alone. Could not face another £15 on the bracket. Remember that if you get any sort of case then it won't bit the normal iPhone cradles. Its bloody annoying that just after getting a decent setup in the car I have to take the case off to put it in the cradle....meaning most of the time I don't bother defeating the point of having it.
  18. Yup those 3 parts should be it. When you install it you may well need to wire up a ground lead as most 350z don't come with one in the factory loom (stupid bloody nissan)
  19. Nice and simple. If you want to retain your steering controls - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/ict/p~29-645.html?cat=0 + Adapter for the make of head unit When connecting it up don't connect up the RCAs as you will ne using after market amps. This will do power and steering controls Double Din Facia - http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/autolead ... html?cat=0
  20. Pretty sure I used 15 or less sheets and which weight around 800g so that actually 15kg which is small. You can loose that on a diet lol. You also don't have to plaster a panel in dynamat to make it effective just placing strips in the right places is virtually as effective with a much better coverage per roll
  21. Agree with all of H5 comments. For those saying "Oh don't put more weight in the car" lets put this into proportion. The weight you are putting into the car is a FRACTION of the weight of a person. I presume none of you ever take a passenger because that will really screw with the performance! Spend your money on quality equiptment and get those doors sound-deadened as the metal is fairly flimsy. I was amased how soft they were and what a difference dynamating them made. Spen the money on front speakers. Don't worry about the rear ones for now. You will get a much better sound by getting good front speakers than agerage in front & back.
  22. I looked at...1! At the time it was the only black 350z GT under 20K (but quite a chunk) but after meeting the owner and finding out it was a family car and they were getting divorced I realised they needed to shift it ASAP. I was blinkered when i went to look at it. As it was my first 'real' car I just loved it and so missed a few things like just how baldy the wheels were, a 1" ding in the buttom middle bit of the bumper. That said overall it was a good car. 4 years on it was the best decision i have made. At the time mine was only 2 years old so being so young there were less 'major' things to keep and eye out for. If I was looking now for one of an older age (like a friend is) then I would be much more thorough.
  23. The area you are masking is way too small. Your always going to get some harsh joins with such a small area as shown by your first efforts. You need to open up the area you are spraying but also do it much more graduated in layers to blend it out a bit. All that said its still VERY hard to get it so you can't see it. It will probably be good for a temporary fix but you will want to get it done properly before selling otherwise people will wonder what other bits have been done on the cheap
  24. Would be intersted to see the door shut just to see how it looks.
  25. Also would recommend Mazuma. Sent my 3G off them them and got a credit note within 2 days. Screen had two bad scratches but they did not adjust the price they game me full price. Also means you get to keep the headphoens/sync lead and don't need to worry about all that side.
