  1. +1 - like Semenuks yard http://www.pinkbike.com/video/231497/
  2. To be fair it feels like a new bike again now, really happy with it. Considering I'd have had to spend the good part of £2.5k getting something new equivalent to it (plus whatever I get back again from selling the current one), it just didnt make sense. New bearings, bottom bracket and suspension make it feel lovely again I also got my old damper and CSU from the forks, and air can and body back, so I could probably sell them on and get a bit of cash back. The CSU looks brand new which is a surprise given my lack of maintenance of seals on the forks, good to know I can get a few bob on the bay for it. Amanda is really chuffed with her new bike too. On paper it looks so identical to the Myka, but its amazing the difference good parts can make along with a bit more travel. She was flying down the local loop yesterday quicker than she did on the Myka. I think in reality the medium Myka was probably a bit too big and now she has a small for the Safire its just made it handle properly. Expect her to start doing jumps and drops soon I'd say! How much was your bearing change Mr AK? My LBS wanted £70 labour and £40 for bearings plus other misc bits at another £40. I ended up getting the bearings on eBay for £35 and £35 for some bearing tools and did it all myself in a couple of hours! Now means I can change Amanda's bearings too so they will be getting done more than once every couple of years from now on!
  3. I'm always shocked at these Eco petrols. Never return that much MPG unless you have a really small engine. Our 370z does somewhere around 30MPG on normal longer journeys (bit of m-way and A-roads) and drops to about 25MPG when doing more town driving. The Alfa (2l JTDm2) does about 45MPG on our commute into reading and 50MPG+ across France with bikes on the back. No way you can compare a petrol to a Diesel really, soot chuckers win by a mile, however the Zed is very economical for its size compared to other petrol cars.
  4. The bling arrived (waits for AK to shout ) Forks have been upgraded from 130RLs to 140 FIT RLC Kashima, and shock has been Kashima'd. They feel awesome, its like a completely new bike on the rough stuff. Almost makes it too smooth! Not sure whats made a bigger difference out of Kashima or FIT, but the upgrades are well worth it. Need to get the rebound/compression dialled in now, but out the box as Mojo have set them it feels pretty damn good. And we have a new steed in the stable as Amanda's old bike wasnt up to the task any more. His and hers bikes: Just need to get the old one (and my Tricross and old Rockhopper) sold now as we dont have any room in the garage.
  5. So young Christopher,I must ask. Why are you not doing this with your mate? Because I have no holiday left, honest gov
  6. Looking grey in Reading too. That Wasso has a lot to answer for now
  7. What have you done, we are now surely cursed! Rain for the next 30 days and 30 nights
  8. Good luck matey. As you know lots of Tricross spares in our garage (a complete bike full!) should you need them and a floor/airbed to crash on if you get diverted this way! Looks like you are taking training for next years Alps trip seriously
  9. Surely no one would be stupid enough to remortgage to buy a set of wheels
  10. No disrespect to any businesses here, but if you rely purely on a mobile phone then you are a bit of a muppet. If you need to be contactable ALL the time you need more than one way to be contacted. Annoying when it does happen, but you should plan for it to happen. With regard to proving/knowing who was effected, I'm pretty sure they can find out exactly who was effected. I just depends if its easier for them to just dish out a discount to all vs spending the effort working out who was effected. Not hard for them to do it, but will require a bit of effort and might not be cost effective. No way you can easily prove you were effected and that would take a lot of man power for them to process all the claims. Cheaper to just give the whole base a discount.
  11. New bearings turned up today as well as a few other bits and bobs. So started the evening with this pile of bits: and Which turned into this: Up tomorrow is my suspension being back and can get out on the bike again hopefully
  12. Wonder how that works for MVNO's on O2, like GiffGaff. Guess they pass something back to us themselves rather than getting it from O2.
  13. Yup. Three's advert shows it as being an NFC device anyways. Thanks. One of the guys here has just got one and confirmed it is NFC although he has no interest in using it! Just want to know if the new iPhone will be NFC, if not I will likely go for the S3 when my 3GS finally dies.
  14. The only bearings left working/moving and not notchy on my bike are the headset! Was tempted to swap them out so that the whole bike has a new set, but they seem fine. Bottom bracket was seized tight on the non-drive side so have a new Hope stainless one in there now. Frame bearings felt fine, but thought while the shock/fork was out of action, might as well whip them apart and test, and found all bar a few were notchy and some were seized. Lesson learnt - check bearings more often! Very strangely, Evans Cycles were very helpful and removed the 2 double blind chainstay bearings, for free! Apparently they are quite hard to remove without the right tool from Specialized, as being double blind there is no way to easily get a drift onto them. And if you do then you can easily knock out the inner race and bearings leaving behind the outer race in the frame They also have a tool for that as it happens quite a lot!
  15. You had enough of the bouncy bike now so back to the HT, or are you trying to make the Lakes feel as rough as the Alps? Our stable of bikes has grown once again - will take some piccies soon - but for once its not for me. My bike is currently in about 14 pieces waiting for forks and shock to return from Mojo and bearings to arrive!
  16. Drop the roof and smell those lovely gasses
  17. You failed to spot the major fun factor killer - the SLK isnt petrol 6.5 0-60mph, with 500nm of torque. Im pretty sure that will give the zed a run for it's money in a straight line. Until you get to a corner when the weight of the engine will keep you going straight While it has a LOT of torque, it still wont rev, so just doesnt have the same fizz as a petrol. I'll admit it will probably beat a 370z in a straight line once moving though.
  18. You failed to spot the major fun factor killer - the SLK isnt petrol
  19. Does the current S3 do NFC? We have some bling ones at work that do, but they're not for the public unless you happen to by an Olympian
  20. Crankworx Slopestlye at Les 2 Alpes is currently live on webcast at http://www.crankworx.com Quality is great for a live stream, have it playing on the tv no probs
  21. In that case, its what Colin described (oil change interval) rather than low oil pressure warning. Low oil pressure will show as a little yellow oil can symbol on the dials rather than the info screen.
  22. Got a pic of what flashes up? If its the oil low warning symbol then thats not the same as the prompt that Colin is describing I dont think.
  23. We can always create you a custom status (til the shiney new things come and ovewrite it!)
