  1. Turns our the oil temp sensor was kaput, after getting it replaced normality has resumed!
  2. Nah no unusual smells or hotness. If it wasnt for the loss of acceleration ( and either the engine warning light or flickering oil temp gauge ) I would be none the wiser that something was amiss.
  3. Just realised I've added this to the wrong section! Could a mod move this to the 370z section please?
  4. Hi All, I've had some issues with my 370z ( 26k miles on the clock, not been consistently hammered ) for the past few weeks..... About a month ago the amber general engine warning light came on and as the car was due a service I killed two birds with one stone and asked the nearest high performance centre in Edinburgh to investigate the engine warning whilst carrying out the service. The investigations didn't uncover anything of note and the mechanic suspected that the warning was probably tripped with the oil temperature being over the threshold that would trip it, so he reset the warning light, "cleaned" the oil temperature sensor and said if it cropped up again to bring it back for further investigation. I drove home and the car seemed ok for the next few relatively long trips I made in it. A couple of days ago I was driving home from work and glanced at the temperature gauge on the dash and nearly shat a brick when I saw it had maxed out. Luckily I was close to home so finished the journey and left it for a bit to cool down. Since then the oil temp gauge flickers about wildly ( usually maxing out after 5 minutes or so of driving ) and the acceleration has diminished drastically ( to the point of being able to put the foot down in 2nd and above without much of a kick ). To further muddy the waters, I took it for a drive today to see how it was and the oil temp gauge has went back to normal and the acceleration is back to normal levels BUT the same amber engine warning light has now come back on. I've booked it in to be looked at again on Monday. Has anyone experienced these kind of issues before?!? Cheers for any advice/thoughts. Roy
  5. I'm pretty sure i've experienced almost every one of those over the past ten years!
  6. I like the look of the squad but Stand-Off could be our achilles heel. I would have taken Wilkinson if he made himself available. Sexton needs to find form and avoid injury and we will be alright. Rory Best's ommision is a strange one even though he is out of form I would still have taken him over Tom Youngs. The Aussie front row is a definite weakness (not as bad as it used to be though) to be exploited so if we can dominate them there then everything else will click into place. People take a look at that squad and think its all about crash, bang and wallop but I think people will be surprised by the skill level of most of those players. It all depends on what kind of game Gatland sets them out to play. I'm going on the official tour for the 3 test matches and the Melbourne Rebels can so CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
  7. Been to all the International Series games so far and am a Packers fan. I got into it about 15 years ago with the coverage on Sky. I've been a rugby player for many years so its kind of up my street. It does take a while to get your head around the many many rules but once you get into it you realise it is a highly tactical and skillful game. As with all professional sports, the guys on the TV make things look ridiculously easy, doing things that us mere mortals could only dream of doing.
  8. How about this? Couple weekends ago at my local shopping centre car park? To say I was a bit miffed was an understatement.......and before any smartass says it the space in front of me was empty when I left!! :-)

    Tyres

My original Bridgestones are close to needing replaced, I've had a search around the 370z specific forums to see if anyone has any experiences/recommendations for replacments but there doesnt seem to be too many topics around apart from Ebized's thread about putting Ultrac Sessantas on his. Whilst i'm not on a particular budget, ideally i'd be looking for something around £250 - £300 a corner with potentially a bit more though if anyone has definite recommendations. My only real requirement is a tyre that runs quieter than the 'stones, Just having a quick browse around I spotted the Pirelli P Zero Rosso, does anyone have experience of them? Any thoughts appreciated!
  13. I live in Arbroath so I'm thankful I don't get back from work till nearer 6pm most nights so miss the worst of it. Wouldnt mind them spending the extra time resurfacing the road if you knew it was going to last much longer but you just know within a year or so the potholes will just reappear.
  14. lol, we live in Arbroath and work in Dundee so you may see us in either place quite often!
  15. Cheers! You down there often? I see quite a few 350s out and about in Dundee these days. Had a 350 JDM before this one.
  16. Was probably me! Was the reg S* *** ? I use the DW Gym down there at lunchtimes but was there after work last Wednesday.

    P1 for a 370Z

Alex Noble in Edinburgh had about 4 GTRs sitting in a row, was tempted to ask for one of them as a courtesy car

    P1 for a 370Z

Just got mine done for £196 all in at Alex Noble in Edinburgh. Got the sticky boot release (known issue) fixed under warranty too. I got the 1 year RAC cover too
  19. I bought a 370z from Evans Halshaw in Aberdeen and it was a debacle from start to finish so I cant really recommend them. No idea what the service section is like (i'm not inclined to find out) but the sales side is best avoided in my opinion.
  20. Would agree about the tramlining. It was a bit disconcerting the first couple times it happened and not something Ievery really noticed with the 350. If you dont have a firm grip on the steering wheel it can run make you swerve a bit awkwardly at low speed. I have a few regular daily routes and it happens at the same spots everytime. Must be something in these patches of the road which makes it more noticeable. Would be curious to know definitively what causes it and if it could be covered by warranty.
  21. Ive noticed this as well and it seems to be intermittent. I dunno if its the cold weather up this neck of the woods (East of Scotland). If it persists when things thaw out a bit i'm going to take it to the dealers (having issues with the boot release as well). Your right though that It can be a bit embarassing considering how much the thing costs.
  22. Bit late but that was me back then! My missus gets embarassed when I wave back to fellow Z drivers I've since moved on to a Black 370 with same number plate!
  23. I have a question related to the above. I have had issues with the boot not clearing the lock mechanism when the button is pressed (requiring two hands to open it etc). I read this post and thought i would see if the "Penny Trick" would make a difference. However when I looked closely at the two spring mechanisms, the right hand side spring is bent into a curved shape (almost like a quarter of a circle if you know what I mean). Upon removing the rubber casing, the piece of metal which runs through the actual spring has completely bent. I'm guessing this is what may be causing the boot not opening properly as both springs are not fully engaged when the boot is closed?!? Two things, what on earth could have caused the spring mechanism to bend like this (assuming its not meant to be like this)? I took the whole mechanism off the boot to see if i could straighten it but with all my strength it wont budge one little bit. Secondly, where would I get a replacement one?
  24. I'll give it a go this weekend. I've got some sticky backed sound deadening stuff left over from the install, you think it will eliminate the rattle if I line the inside edge of the panel with some of that before putting it back on?? Its weird that its the only area of the interior that has been affected.
  25. I've tried jamming stuff along the ridges of the compartment panel without it having much effect. Any idea how easy it is to remove this panel as I dont want to damage the plastic while doing it. That way I might be able to jam it in place a bit more securely.
