  1. Not long to go now mate, make sure the camera battery is charged for Saturday
  2. Strange isn't it? I love the fact that the dash lights are on all the time. Tbh too if you can't see that your lights aren't on (regardless of whether you're in the city or not) then you need your eyes testing.
  3. All great advice here Nixy. I'd say in the dry you're pretty unlikely to reach the limits - don't worry the Z isn't the handful you may expect it to be.
  4. They have auditions at the hotel next to me, hear them getting filmed out on the bridge - had some well funny moments watching that!! Far more enteraining than the program
  5. First was an E reg Metro 1.0 City X!! But that wasn't the worst - that honour goest to a B plate 1.3 Mk1 Astra - poo brown with beige interior. Snapped the CV joints and it then sat on my Mum & Dad's drive for 12months while I had big plans for it - Cossie rear wing and everything! I'm glad I never had the money to do it!!!!! It ended going to the scrappy for 20quid.
  6. Great cars weren't they Nixy? Reminds me of college - couple of the lads had em but proper, proper quick ones. One was on an old H plate (whats that? 1968 I think or something like that) a 1480, high lift cam, exhaust, well sorted suspension & brakes, a Jack Knight straight cut box (with a 50mph 1st gear!) etc etc etc. The thing would hit 130 and it got there quick but cos you're only about an inch off the ground it felt more like a plane! Most of my life lived outside Blackpool and there's tons of proper country roads round there, had such a blast being in the passenger seat of those things flying round blind bends at 90 with your heart in your mouth
  7. Yep, we certainly did mate - except yours was obviously a nicer model being metallic - mine wasn't!! But it certainly had that lovely complimentary beige interior with the brown piping and beige carpets. WHAT.......WAS........I.........THINKING Do you know actually I remember like yesterday what I was thinking - it was all because it had more power and would wheelspin like mad!
  8. I'm giving my tickets up, I've got a pair - if anybody wants em PM me your address and I'll pop em in the post. Just booked a week away with the lads, get back late Saturday night - won't be in ANY fit state to even think about moving Sunday
  9. Cheers mate , makes a change for you to see her clean eh???!!!!
  10. Yeah but it wasn't half as enjoyable as watching those ladies wash my car from 3" away! She's about due another clay, haven't done it in around 4 or so months. Use other AG products, pretty happy with them but I think on wash & wax Megs has the edge. Thanks for the kind comments
  11. I voted exterior styling.........now wait a minute.......I'll explain. I love the look of the Z, sorry LOVE the look of it, from every angle you can't dispute that it's a lovely looking car. But that big gap on the rear arch when you have oem size wheels - all that space. Great if you want to fit bigger wheels but if you either (a) have no disire to or ( can't afford it looks bad.
  12. Pretty sure a couple round Manchester have one
  13. I have a mate who works at Audi, PM what you want to know and I'll pass it across if you like. Lovely car by all accounts.
  14. Yeah I always hankered after the GTe too but couldn't afford to insure it, so I ended getting the Mk2 GTe a couple of years later. Like you say I haven't seen one in years, although I did see a Nova GTe the other day which is the first time I've seen one of them in years.
  15. Yeah dead right I appreciated it, I didn't care what it was it was mine and that I finally had the freedom, it could honestly have been anything. And as proof of that last statement, in actual fact I swapped the knackered Metro for the "Flying Turd" - a B plate Mk1 Astra 1.3 in a stunning shade of brown. Yep, completely poo brown. Great 2nd gear on it though, I think thats what sold it to me. 18 years old and not a clue. You remind me actually Nixy, your lad has a Mk2 Astra doesn't he? He wouldn't be interested in some shocks & springs would he??????
  16. Ah praise indeed, thank you kind sir Yeah, I'm thinking that I'm getting nearer to graduating to other stuff. Been reading a fair bit about Zaino.
  17. A white 6yr old Metro 1.0 City X which still cost me £1300 to insure 3rd F&T (that wasn't even for a full year either!!). God I ragged that car to death - regularly managed to hit 32mph in 1st gear! First car written off - yep you've guessed it the Metro. I think I'd decided that I was some sort of rallying God, it was very snowy & icy and I was drifting round a nice long bend showing off to my then girlfriend but didn't see the not nice massive kerb. Suspension gone, cv joints, driveshafts pulled straight out the gearbox etc etc
  18. ....what do you reckon folks? I've been using Megs wash for ages with their tech wax, but used the 3 step for the first time last week and very happy with the results. The paint seems to be a lot brighter which obviously is down to the cleaner & polish. As with all Megs stuff really easy to use and smells great! My plan is to keep with the tech wax and then go 3 step probably every 2 months or so.
