'Sticky back plastic' looks OK but a (for example) engine cover showing the weave and polished nicely doesn't...... Like you say Jim, each to their own. Just a little surprised a material generates such a dislike.

The way I see it, it is of interest to site members what we do as we do it so to speak. I have plenty of ideas and just enjoy working on the engine bay. H5 said from day one he would do his all in one go and i said I would do it bit at a time. I looked into the bay today and found something else to polish that I am SURE no one has polished on their car yet and although it is not obvious when it has been done properly it WILL be noticable It is little things like that i am sure will make all the difference. For once in my life I believe that it is being in the race that counts and winning is second!! Ming the Happy It's probably nothing to do with the bits you're thinking about polishing up, but it occured to me as soon as I got the Z that the material on the top of the radiator and the surrounding area is particularly dull. Is it made of a thermal plastic or something that it has to have that strange finish? It was the very first thing I noticed when I lifted the bonnet. I am sad in that one of the first considerations I have when buying a car is what I can do under the bonnet! There are options available that I am considering but other things are first. The most common one - and there or the one I will almost certainly NOT take - is a carbon fibre replacment. I will have to take it off to see what is underneath it and what it does before I decide exactly what i am going to do but i am sure I will do something! Infact I have just had a brainwave. Any of you guys driven one of these things?? Looks aside, be scared of the pace. 60hp maybe but the grip is hideous - it makes anyone a driving god (ask the Hamster!). As for the looks, I think it's a Playstation Generation thing. I love the fact it's built for a sole purpose and it's had bits stuck on to keep it on the road. Have you seen pics of the Zed racers in Japan, with the huge arches and spoiler. Ugly and beautiful all at the same time IMO!

gonna get worse mate, sorry mine was an occasional thing, and after a few months I ended up crunching every single time I was changing gear... new gearbox under warranty. Dealer even admitted Nissan had new synchros in it... I always do 4th to 6th as redlining in 4th leaves you already at a very high speed... Same here, that's why I found it. Gotta wait a while thought, apparently they've got a product recall on the Nissan Gote or something equally attractive.

It's the sort of thing you hear about and I spoke to a friend this morning who actually met someone who had exactly that done - the tip of a finger taken off by his own family for and indiscretion!!! He won't be doing that again! It is so pointless. Probably so they can go and throw them at each other on the way to kicking a cat or something equally as worthwhile. Scummy little sh!tes. Couldn't agree more Ming, I just have an incentive to do this now. In order for this not to be a one sided thing I will show some of the bits as they arrive. Just not yet! It is looking good mate, keep going. As for those pictures, I thought they'd been destroyed....... Not sure where you found those! It's all good fun so far. As much as anything talking to like minded people who see changing anything on a car a personal challenge. And boy can some of them step up to it! Don't worry Sarnie, I'm trying not to 'copy' anything so it's not a like for like judging effort.

Latest idea, is I'm going to keep it all bog standard and spray paint it myself with cans of Hammerite from Halfords. I will also use some self adhesive film to cover anything I think needs it and go with a lime green theme. H5 the planned and happy....... If that doesn't work, I'll justhave to beat you with plan B......!!

No idea? If the tracking was out, would that affect the way my tyres are wearing in this particular way? If the toe is out (ie when the front wheels 'point' away from the car. Left wheel going left a bit, right wheel going right a bit, when the steering wheel is straight) then it would effectively drag the inner edge in a straight line. Sure there are other examples tho.

Bound with electrical tape for now mate but i will be looking for the proper sized samco bend in black sooner or later to finish it off properly. PS The induction kit has a lovely 'gulp' sound if you boot it as it really sucks in air!! I know a place that MAKES hoses. Not just any old hoses but.............. . . . BRAIDED STEEL HOSES!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to go visit them over the weekend and see what if anything they can do for me!! There are a couple of other visible hoses that could also be replaced I reckon.
