  1. As i said (you should read everything ) Turbos are "cheating". Basically they pump more air in the cylinder, hence you can get more fuel inthere too to get a good mixture, so the generated explosion is bigger.
  2. Is this going on the 15th guys? Had a look thru the last three pages and couldn't see. I could well be about for this. You can all see the 'before' state of the challenge!
  3. I'll get me coat then...... I don't like the fact it's bigger than the bit you screw it in to. Isn't the Lexus one a perfect fit??
  4. Badges here: http://www.courtesyparts.com/350z/emblems.html And how the hell could changing a badge invalidate your warranty It changes the drag co-efficient if you change it therefore putting more strain on engine parts in reaching original performance.
  5. As I understand it the net result of the turbo is a greater 'explosion' in the cylinder so more force produced (and torque and power therefore increased). I'll take cover now....!!

  7. Can't help with the hole questions. As for the sticky stuff, firstly use your finger to try and 'roll' as much of it up together and then lift it off. Anything left, if it's just a residue then an older cloth and polish should get it off. If it's left thicker and won't roll off then try a credit card corner to push it off.
  8. I'd go with that. Just proves the stat sheets don't tell the whole story. The front tyres on it were squealing a little whereas the Zed was just relentless with it's grip in a straight line.
  9. And read the very article yesterday. Not disputing they love the Zed. They just love anything German or so expensive anyone in the real world can't afford it IMO. First article I can think of a Zed didn't come out on top with the price taken into account.
  10. No idea mate. But there is an element of one rule for some and another for the rest on ocassions.....
  11. Persoanally speaking Sarnie I think they've got a bit too much detail on them (little raised and lowered details on the inner rim etc.) From a distance look cool though.
  12. I'll never drive a Bimmer either! I have seen a couple of Civic Type R engined proper Mini's though. Now that...is scary!!

    In the club

Off which set of wheels though??
  14. OK, fair enough. Like I say, it was a windows down conversation. 218bhp in 1100kg is still pushing some. The Zed had no trouble in a straight line. Was just impressive for a mid sized hatch.
  15. lol - cheers mugwump! Sorry if I'm being thick, how does that work with the diesel peak torque being so much higher than the petrol off the same equation??
  16. On my way home saw a kitted 56 plate Mini giving it some beans down the slip road and it slotted in in front of me. Traffic was slowish (50 odd) and when a space appeared put his foot down. It went considerably quicker than any Mini I'd seen so stuck with him for a bit. Traffic, speed limits and restraint kept everything steady and then where I come off there's a lovely sweep of right-left-right motorway regulation slip road onto a dual carriageway. He gave me a flash so we went for it and was surprised a) by the Zeds grip and by the grunt of the Mini. At the next lot of traffic lights I pulled up alongside and he wound down his window. He checked what mine was, I checked what his was. Apparently these are two seater 280 bhp Mini's! Only 2,000 in the country? Anyway we were chatting at the lights and someone tooted and he said 'Shall we go?' and booted it (in a 60 limit btw!) and I followed suit. Surprisingly in first and second the Zed pulled away from him (that was where it ended as speed limit reached!). At next roundabout he pulled up and raised his eyebrows. So despite an obvious weight disadvantage, the Zed can clearly plant it's grunt very well. Was very impressed by this Mini though! Anyone else driven or had any experience of these things? P.S. Hope the above isn't inappropriate.
  17. I was in mine in the inside lane. 53 plate in the outside in the traffic because of the bomb stuff near Wycombe.
  18. Gotcha! So how can a car with a 5 bhp power difference have a 110 lb ft difference in torque??? Coz the way the curves are? Look at the rpms associated! The petrol one has max hp at 5600 rpm the diesel one at 3500 rpm Agree that the curves are like that, but if the turbo / & diesel bits doesn't do anything to the relationship, why is the peak torque so different?

  20. Link doesn't work I have heard that you can say that a family member from another country borrowed your car and they have now gone back home! I also heard that if the letter is not sent registered post then you can claim to have never received the letter and therefore they have not informed you of intention to prosecute within the 14 days that they need to? Anyone else know of anyways to get away with it? My bad - see Neo's link. Like the idea of a foreign relative - how would you prove insurance?? Also like the idea of the registered post, did it work Sarnie?? I don't know of any other ways with cameras except I think that when you turn from one road with one speed limit, inot another with a different limit, there has to be a sign within a certain distance of the junction telling you so (or something along those lines). Ming??? I know loads for being pulled over.......!!
  21. So is it turbo diesels this doesn't work for? Example - Astra 1.8 petrol Power - 125 @ 5600 rpm Torque - 170 @ 3800 rpm Astra 1.9 TD Power - 120 @ 3500 rpm Torque - 280 (!) @ 2750 rpm The diesel one doesn't go into the equation? (using the other info on the net)
  22. Just watching the news: some geezers are taking police to European Court of Human Rights because saying who was driving denies them the right to remain silent! I hope they b**dy win!! This will be the third time, the last was around midnight on a (almost) deserted M25! I am so sick of these cameras!! One of the prettiest things I ever saw was a Ferrari F355 and Lamborghini Diablo flying around the south west corner of the M25 one night at about 1 am. Clearly not fussed, the two of them were on the far (far!) side of a ton and setting off all the cameras as they went. So pretty seeing them flash in the distance!! I hope they win too mate and nothing comes through.
  23. When this happened to me I got a letter..... Normally if you've seen them the gun has seen you and if it's over the limit for anytime at all I think they add it to the list. Only one I've not been able to get off too. www.speedtrapbible.co.uk - know your rights!!
  24. Yeah, much as I love Autocar I'll be astonished if the feature is in depth enough to keep us happy. Now if Evo had done the same...... ........they'd have chosen a Porsche or a BMW??
