  1. Great write up, and not badly done I suppose. But blatantly obvious it was thrashed regularly and no idea what else would have been changed that could cost a fortune if it went pop....
  2. So say if you were to have a drag race, are you saying you should shift before redline? I always thought you should shift as late as possible As soon as you hit peak torque, it doesnt take long before you are not gaining power, so better off changing up. Also you have very little time before you redline, so yes, change up as soon as you get to peak torque to avoid hitting the limiter Surely you should change at the point the torque in the gear you are changing to is greater than the gear you're in. So if the decline isn't sharp and the same or more torque isn't available then it may be quicker to stay in the gear. Think CTR VTEC, and if you change gear at the right time you're right in the sweet spot for the next gear. Get it wrong, and it's horrid!
  3. There's a new member looking for most of those bits that was searching for a breaker very recently....
  4. Martin is in direct contact with the family so they're aware and very grateful for all the words and offers of support.
  5. PLEASE DON'T USE THE WHEEL CLEANER! Sorry to shout, but the acidic nature of it gets into every nook and cranny, and when split rims are involved it's a whole world of pain.
  6. I would try something like Poorboys SSR1, which is a very light polish and is silicon free. Should do the job. T-Cut is effectively a paint renovator and was developed to literally remove the oxidised layer of paint from the car.

    Loss of music

It's another knackered BOSE..... It is a fault with the unit. Can either be warranty replaced, or there is a repair at Clarion (the manufacturers of the unit) that can be found in the discount section.
  8. I would start with a mild car shampoo, and give it a good rinse afterwards, then dry them, then go for a drive to spin the last of the water out of the wheel. Then dry them again. As Chris says, it depends what the finish actually is. Find out, then the removal of the stains can be undertaken. I would then seal them with jetSEAL 109 when done, they give proper protection.

    parts website

    Have you tried www.partsgateway.co.uk ?
  10. I've just logged on and seen this, am gutted to hear it. Life isn't fair but sometimes it dishes out a right kick in the nuts. Phil is one of the most genuine guys I know, and if there's any justice he'll make as full a recovery as possible. Sorry to hear it Andrew, if there's anything we can collectively do, we're here. I'll be keeping everything crossed.
  11. Battery dead. It's going to need a trickle charge over the winter. Anyone recommend one? Thanks.

I'll have a word with a relative who has some other Arcam kit and is looking to expand it in their new house. I'll let you know if they're interested
  13. Would love to go, but the Zed is very dead at the moment.
