  1. Guys I've been quoted £1400 to get the pads and discs replaced at my local dealer following a service (Ancaster, South Croydon). I'd rather sell the car than spend that much - what a joke!! Any ideas where i can buy OEM pads/discs and get fitted? I could go down the upgrade route but not really sure where to start and also what the costs may be.....but i dont really want to be spending more than £5-600 all in incl. fitting. Thanks Sean

    P3 and Oil

I'm taking my car to the dealer on Saturday morning for its P3. They are charging £350 all in. I know this is steep but is my only option. (FJ Chalke in Wincanton) In order to try and save a little, which oil can i buy and how much do i need? 5l?? Also, where can i buy it?? Thanks guys. p.s. as you can tell, i'm failry new to zed ownership!
  3. Hi Caroline, I am also a keen cyclist and have been taking my road bike to pieces every weekend to get it in the back of the car. Hasn't done my boot any favours as there are now lots of scratches etc! How much was your rack including p&p from USA? Do you think it would support 2 road bikes? Also, is it obvious when the rack is removed? Thanks, Sean
  4. I've got my car booked into FJ Chalke in Wincanton, Somerset for a P3 service and they have quoted £350 all in. Having read the servicing pages, this is obviously expensive! I actually live in London and my parents are in Somerset so i thought it may be cheaper to get the car serviced when down there next. Does anyone know any cheaper places in South London (or Surrey) that i could go to instead? Also, has anyone actually used FJ Chalke before? Thanks Sean

    Exhaust broken

Thanks for all the replies! I did exactly what Genghis199 did and took it to Longlife where they cut out the two flanges and replaced it with a stainless steel sleeve welded to the rear section pipe and clamped to the centre pipe. Sounds normal now so hopefully will last. While i was at Longlife (In Carshalton Beeches) the guy said he would custom make an exhaust from the cat back for £449 fitted. Anyone had any experience with Longlife? His workshop looked like it catered for boy racers so not sure if it is going to be what i want. If/when i buy a new exhaust, i want a good quality system that doesn't scare the neighbours. I don't want my car sounding like a Nova with a wastepaper basket for an exhaust! Thanks Sean

    Exhaust broken

Thanks for all the replies. On further investigation, the two flanges are still together, it has just come apart at the rear pipe from its flange. Nissan say it will cost £420 to fit a new rear box but that price may escalate if they break the centre piece flange when removing. Is it risky to get a welder to try and repair or should i go with Nissan? Stupidly took it down to Kwik Fit where the local cowboys were umming and erring over numbers - final quote from them was 670 from the cat back, though not sure if this would be OEM... Other option is Milltek where the guy has quoted 890 fitted, but then i'm not too keen to splash out all this money just yet. What do you think - you're thoughts are very much appreciated! Thanks, Sean

    Exhaust broken

Hi, I've only had my Zed for 3 months and already the exhaust has gone! It has 20k miles on it and is a 54 plate - is this common? It has gone at the flange joint between the centre pipe and rear section. I am taking it in to Nissan to see what the damage is - do you think i can get away with just having a new flange joint put on or it will it require a new rear section (or worse, a whole new exhaust!). Also, does anyone know the cost of a OEM Rear section and whether there are any other alternatives - i dont want to spend silly money on it though! Many thanks, Sean
  8. Thanks H5. I'll try that tomorrow!
  9. I know a lot of people have problems with their systems but none seem to have this one...i have trawled through the previous posts! Mine was working perfectly up until a week ago when i took the car to a jet wash. When i got back in the car, it was all misted up inside (i mean the windscreen was almost dripping wet!) Anyway, since then the CD player doesnt work...when i put a disc in it just sasy 'Check Disc'. I am assuming this may be due to the moisture that got in when wasching the car. Anyone know how i can fix this? I've had a couple of long drives with the heater on and it still hasnt cured it.
  10. i've had my Z for 3 weeks now and have noticed this as well. When compared with my girlfriends VW beetle, the heated seas in the Z are very poor. I often accidentally turn my on when resting my are on the transmission tunnel and i don't even realise it they are that bad!
  11. Thanks everyone, i picked up my new car on Saturday morning and have already used a full tank of petrol just 36 hours later!! The car is awesome. I have bought a 54 plate in Azure Blue with GT pack and am loving it. Will post some pics when i get a chance but will need to clean it as it is looking a bit dirty after all the miles this weekend! p.s. the only thing that bothers me is the lack of a proper tonneau cover!! Is there anything out there that properly stops anyone from seeing what is in the boot? I was a bit worried when i parked it in a multi-storey car park when it had my overnight bag in it which had my laptop in it!
  12. does anyone know if it will fit in the back of the car?? Obviously will need to remove the front wheel! Failing that, are there any decent roof racks someone can suggest (or other means of carrying my bike!) Thanks
  13. Thanks to everyone for all the advice. I am going to see the car below on the weekend so hopefully it will turn out to be a good'un. It is in Hampshire and i am based in London so not too far. They also have an 06 plate with 40k on the clock for the same price. Not sure i want a car that has been doing 20k a year! Will keep you posted Cheers, Sean http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/787167.htm
  14. Hi guys, I am in the final throes of buying a 350Z and thought before i take the plunge it would be a very good idea to ask advice from some people that really know about them! I've test driven a couple now and am looking to buy a 2005 model with 25k on the clock for £12,500. It is a one owner car with full history. Can anyone point me in the direction of known faults to be weary of? Also are there any hidden costs associated with owning the car? Is servicing expensive? Many thanks for any help and hope to be part of the forum very soon! Sean
