I've been watching this sale. It has some "interesting" characteristics... The item has been closed twice and on each occasion a new item (with a new closing date) has appeared. It does have a Buy Now price, but under my watch none of the three entries has had a bid against it. On the posting of the third item, I asked the seller why it kept disappearing and then appearing under a new item. His reply was that he'd sold the first and second items and the third was another one he had. (The reply was very patronising). I'm surprised that he would have more than one of these, so I wonder if they are not official Nissan items (which normally sell for much more). Anyone bought one from him?

Just in case anyone's interested.... Removed plates. Rear had eight(!) pieces of fixing tape. I suspect that was because on delivery I complained that it wasn't on straight so they probably pulled it off, put four new pieces on and offered it up again! Front had two fixing screws near the top PLUS four pieces of tape. When removing the front I noticed it hadn't been centred... Discovered I needed to have the screw holes in a different place or the coloured caps would be over differeng colour on the plate. This also meant I could centre it correctly. Removed all traces of tape adhesive. Didn't have a hair dryer (those of you who've met me will know why! ) but its pretty hot out there anyway. I used Meguiars Bug & Tar Remover to get the last traces off. Then polished round the rear plate area (but not where the tape was going to go). Put tape on rear plate an offered up, trying to memorise distances all round. Then took backing tape off, offered up, paused and then pressed into place. Drilled new holes in front plate to make sure caps would blend in with plate detail. Offered up and marked plate holder where holes needed to be. Murphy's law dictated that one was very close to one of the original holes but I took the chance and went for it. Used power driver to take self-tapping screws through for the first time. Removed screws, fixed adhesive strips to sides and bottoms of plate, removed backing, started screws through the plate and then offered up and fixed. Lastly, I'd noticed that one of the heads on the old screws had started to corrode, so put a tiny drop of engine oil in the new screw heads before closing the fixing cap. All looks good. Took the opportunity to touch up a few front bumber paint chips, as well as the chips on onf omy Brembo calipers. Whoever said Halford's Gold was a good match for the Brembos need to visit my optician!! Pic. attached should show the legend on my new plate (FancyPlates turned the Z into a logo!). It also shows one of my replaced RPA Sensors that has been painted as per the suppliers instructions - not quite as neat looking but hopefully the paint wont come off this time!) Thanks for all the tips guys. Never did find the Dental Floss - must be with my false teeth somewhere....

I wondered if that was the reason for the screws at the front - much more likely to lift with a headwind! Any tips on drilling the holes in my new plates. I plan on using the current plate as a template, drill a small hole with a HS bit and then work my way up through the sizes... Thanks,

My Z has the front numberplate attached by two screws, but the rear has no visible fixings so I'm presuming double sided tape. As I've just acquired a new set of plates from FancyPlates I'd like to know: If they did the rear by tape, why not the fronts? Is the tape supplied with the plates by FP sufficient for the rears, and how many pieces should I use (They supplied two sets of four lengths)? And is there anything else I should look out for when doing the swap? Thanks,

The thing that really annoys me about these drivers is that in order to overtake the 45mph speed in the 60mph zone the only safe way is to exceed the limit during the actual overtaking. And just think, when they start equiping cars for road pricing, "they" will know where you are all the time and will be able to issue speeding tickets for *any* transgression of the speed limit! Enjoy your Z while you can!

Stone Chips and Nissan's Excellent Customer Service.....Not!
WoREoD replied to Neil's topic in 350Z General
There was a Nissan ad mentioned in this thread. I still think this should be reported to the Ad Standards agency with Nissan's letter as evidence that the ad is misleading. -
I'm in West Oxfordshire and soon to be heading "home" to South Oxfordshire. Hi! and Welcome!

My Ultra had its 18,000 service last week and whilst there had its limited edition plate fitted! Now I am a number! They also replaced the RPA Sensors with some new ones that had been correctly painted. They dont look quite as nice but hopefully will retain the paint better than the previous set.

My fly-killer was in for service last week and I asked them to look at my crunching downshift synchro problem. My dealer (who I trust!) said they couldn't find anything significant but they changed the gearbox oil to a synthetic one as that might help. After two days driving it seems that: a) almost every shift now is "clunky", and when cold, the first few shifts need me to be very positive. Any comments on synthetic oil in the gearbox?

Dont know about a Nismo limited edition, but the GT4 was available with the so called 300bhp engine, and 76 of them were yellow and, more relevantly, 100 were Kuro black. And, of course, you could order them with a spec that included Nismo bits and pieces. Could it be an unsold GT4? Check the Z badges on the side and if they have bronze tinge to the outer rim it could well be (there was another GT4 on here recently which was 06 plated).

Types of RPA Sensor:

Two things: Dont forget Tesco do 99 Ron at some stations. Check here for details: http://www.greenergy.com/products/99_oc ... tions.html RPA Sensors. I've spent hours on this one. There are several different types fitted - seems to vary by dealer. The most common one looks like a disc within a larger disc but with a recess between them. This recess should NOT be painted. The kit comes with small masking rings to stop the paintshop doing it but most just throw them away. If those recesses are sprayed the paint can lift very easily, particularly when washed with a power washer. I'd always washed mine by hand but the local service dealer did a wash for me at the end of service and suddenly I had flakey paint! Have fun!

I think this has been done before. One in the back, one, almost vertical in front of the brace, one on the passenger seat and one in the passenger footwell! Good luck!

Mine's 9 months old with 18,000 on it - but I've enjoyed everyone of them! Welcome! Ultra is the only colour! p.s. If you'd like to add your car's details to the GT4 Register send me an e-mail. Personal info is kept confidential, the object being to keep track of these exclusive limited edition models. johnk@pceffect.co.uk -

The b*srt*rd should have his hand chopped off! Very sorry to hear. Seems no matter how carefully you choose your parking space there is always a risk of a jealous cretin around. Hope you can get it repaired with the minimum of trouble. -
I haven't got one, but you might want to decide which one you want, standard or GT4?

I've finally managed to isolate my gearbox crunch! It happens when changing down from 6th to 5th, and also from 4th to 3rd. It happens if I go straight through the change, but I can avaoid it if I pause for a fraction of a second in the neutral section before completion. I guess it doesn't happen when I go 5th to 4th because its a slightly longer change because of the dog-leg. I'm going to report it when the car is in for a service and other remedial next week, simply because its now seems to be happening regularly and, I'm sure it didn't happen at all for the first few months. Anyone else had similar symptoms? Cheers!

Stone Chips and Nissan's Excellent Customer Service.....Not!

Dont forget the Advertising Standards people. They can have the Ad withdrawn. But I'd rather not have the stone chips! -
Called in to get "something for the weekend" (99 Ron) and was surprised to find we were signing for credit cards instead of PIN-ing. Have the fraudsters moved on from Shell?
-
... (the paintwork of course!) Noticed the other day that the the paint on one of my Brembos, near the top, is fading. To be more precise it looks likes its worn off! I'm sure there's nothing rubbing on it. Its not stone chips (I've got those as well). Anyone else had anything like this?

I occasionally get a crunch into 3rd from 4th (and also into 5th from 6th) at medium revs. I began to worry about the box, but it seems to only happen on selected days. I'm suspicious that when I'm in a hurry and stress levels aren't low I'm not concentrating enough on the change and may not be de-pressing the clutch enough. A bit worrying but I've got a longer warranty to worry about it and work it out.
