  1. The TomTom Go I've ordered comes with a free speed camera download. I've treid the TomTom 5 Version on a PDA Phone (the HP i-paq 6515) but prefer the idea of hiding it in the centre console to having give-away (!) sticker marks on the inside of the windscreen. Regarding maps - I'm told (but have no experience yet) that by their nature all maps are goint to be out of date, but that TomTom has the nest ones for Europe, whilst Garmin are the best for the USA (its down to the mapping companies they use). Be careful if waiting 'til June - The new TomTom models, whilst having some nice features, wont physically fit in the centre console because they are 1cm taller. Cheers JohnK
  2. I've succumbed to a 700 - delivery tomorrow. It cost £325 plus carriage. I'll let you know how it goes....
  3. And the TomTom Go 700 is now down to £325 inc. VAT! JohnK
  4. To Mr GTZ - Got your e-mail, and added details to my spreadsheet. But you're the only one to give details so far To Theminel - Of course it counts! I've added it in the Notes column Cheers JohnK
  5. I tried a 700 with the remote and could pretty much do everything I wanted, including entering postcodes. Thanks for the feedback though. JohnK
  6. And given they are just launching the x10 series, which is larger and probably wont fit in the cubbyhole, if you wait a few weeks you should get a good price on a 500 or 700. The 700 has already come down 50 quid in the last 6 weeks! (Which is what I'm doing!!) JohnK
  7. Cracked it. Saved it as .gif file instead of a .jpg and the size came down! Cheers all! JohnK
  8. I'm having real problems getting my desired picture down to 6k. I'm editing it in Photoshop, got it down to 100 pixels, resolution is 72dpi, but it comes out at 12k. If I try saving it at a lower quality the pic goes all hazy. Any tips out there? TIA, JohnK
  9. When I first had my Z I made the mistake of putting a couple of plastic trays in the boot unsecured and they made a couple of marks on the plastic trim - I soon learnt my lesson and now cover everything with a blanket. Today, whilst cleaning the boot it reminded me I'd like to restore the trim. So, how best to do this? Will they polish out? Is there a product I should use? Thanks in advance! JohnK p.s. I have no desire to polish the trim to a shine like secondhand car dealers used to do!
  10. A question for those of you with TomTom Go devices stashed in your glove box ... TomTom have just announced a new model range, the Go x10 series. These have bigger screens and therefore boxes than the Go x00 series. The new dimensions are 115mm x 92mm x 58mm, as opposed to 112mm x 81mm x 66. Do you think one of these would fit in the same way your current units do? Thanks for any thoughts, JohnK
  11. I worked on voice recognition systems in the 1980s. As far as I can see (hear) very little progress has been made in 20 years. I blame the voices - but then I always do JohnK
  12. Great dark side animation - can you do it with a wabbit (pancak optional)? JohnK
  13. I *want* the black one! (I'd keep my yellow one though ) JohnK
  14. Fantastic! Best smile I've had since I got out of my Z yesterday night! JohnK
  15. Briefly followed a Blade Coupe which turne North on the M1 at Toddington. Might have been Des! JohnK

    Mileage

I feel guilty cos my GT4, six months old on 1st March, has done 12,500! This is because: a) I use it to get to my customers I cant stop driving it! Keep thinking about a "work" car - but dont know what I'd get - Maybe another Z!! JohnK

    JUST TAX DISC

There doesn't seem to be a link here ....
  18. Another p.s.! forgot to say how well I think the Z performed. Did everything asked of it without complaint (apart from O/S/F Mr Bridgestone having an occasional whine - Whimp!). Very unlike the old days when you'd have to re-fettle your mount after each session. Makes it very re-assuring to drive it hard on occasions when circumstances permit. JohnK
  19. (I’ve been thinking this over for a while and, hopefully, with the board owners permission, I’d like to go ahead….) Given some of the discussions I’ve seen regarding GT4 limited edition numbers, colour quantities, sale of plates on e-bay, etc, I think it might be a nice idea to keep a REGISTER of the GT4 limited edition vehicles. I propose to keep a small spreadsheet of any information GT4 owners care to send me. This information will NOT be disclosed in detail to any source, but MAY be disclosed in summary form (e.g. How many cars on the register, what colours, and patterns in LE number or VIN). Any personal information supplied will not be disclosed to ANY source without the explicit permission of the specific owner. So what would be good to know? Here are three groupings for anyone who’d like to participate: Group A (Essential): 1) Limited Edition Number 2) Vehicle Identification Number 3) Which Colour (UY or K) Group B (Nice to have): 4) Original Registration Number 5) Date First Registered 6) Current Registration Number Group C (Totally Optional) 7) Owners Name 8) Contact E-mail 9) Contact Telephone 10) Dealer Options Fitted 11) Accessories Fitted 12) Modifications Fitted (Is there an UY TT out there!) If you’d like to participate, please send info to johnk@pceffect.co.uk. Thanks for your time! JohnK
  20. Morning all! Sorry I didn't post straight afterwards but had a lot to do (I was in Paris yesterday for the day - no, not by Z, by Eurostar). I too had a great day, and it was my son's first experience on a track, if only as a passenger, and he thought it was great too. It was 30 years (yep!) since I'd last done anything on a track or competitive (apart from "normal" driving ) and its taken the Z to rekindle that amount of FUN. It was great to meet everyone. That Chilli looks great Ting-Tong! The TT was a real kick-in-the-back job even if the clutch didn't like my driving style - Thanks Mark. Nice to meet you all and thanks for posting the pic. If you've got any more of mine Steve, pls feel free to e-mail to johnk@pceffect.co.uk Want to go somewhere else now! Cheers! JohnK p.s. Since leaving the track its been great fun to drive around and watch the Distance To Empty steadily increase the more miles I drive!! p.p.s. In those temperatures you've got to be a hardy soul Steve!

    Tesco 99

Oh - I should also have said that I've asked Tesco to refine their website to show which of their petrol stations have Super Unleaded and the relevant RON. They say they've passed it to their website design people, but it might help if more people asked! JK

    Tesco 99

and just in case there are any doubters, the refiners say it has the same additives as Optimax. JohnK (As read in a recent mag. review)

    Back on :-)

Missed you - Welcome back. (If its any consolation, my business server is refusing to send e-mail and has been for more than two days! - That means all my orders are sitting waiting to be processed! - Still trying to work around the problem...) JohnK
  24. I've used Tesco 99 Ron Super Unleaded since new, with the occasional tank of Optimax when no Tesco in the area. One of the Car Mags recently tested the Tesco Super, and came to the conclusion it was everything it should be. The manufacturers even said it has the same additives in it as Optimax. One note of caution: Spent a recent weekend in the Southport / Liverpool / Wirral area. In the Tescos up there the Super Unleaded seems to be only 97 Ron! Down sarf it seems to be 99. Cheers, JohnK
  25. He said the 350Z was a Yob's car! JohnK Proud to be a Yob! (at age 61!)
